You have to be careful with chiropractors for sure. There are ones out there that will keep you coming weekly or monthly as long as you are willing. I don't go to that kind. I go if I need to go and mine will wonder what he has done wrong if he hasn't fixed me in 2-3 visits.

DH and I are thankful that we haven't needed prescription meds to this point and pray it continues. No one in our house takes prescriptions. In fact, if we do go to the doctor because we are having an issue and they want to issue a prescription, we almost have the deer in the headlight look when they ask us what our pharmacy is! Now we just tell them Walmart, but for a while it was...uhh, ummm, and they might suggest one!

I'm really glad you don't need prescription meds and I pray it continues. I've been on cholesterol meds since 2000. My dad had a stroke at the age of 43 because of high cholesterol and at the time his triglycerides were around 900. The doctor test has me in mm in my triglycerides were over 1100! He called me personally that day and started medication.I don't want to live the life my dad has led since he had his stroke. He never got to go back to work. his speech and coordination were affected greatly.

Hi Catherine and Kathy!

I hate going to the Dr. too, but as I've aged, my DH has convinced me it is a necessary preventative thing to do. I'm pretty healthy other than old age aches and pains, no medications, but I do have sleep apnea and have to use a machine. My DH always encourages me to at least get a mammo and a yearly checkup. (I did skip last year though.) I try to stay away from clinics and hospitals...too many germs.

I've gone to the chiropractor when my back becomes too sore.

Kathy, I hear you about not wanting to end up with a stroke. That's how they convinced me I needed a CPAP because sleep apnea affects your heart and not breathing at night can cause a stroke too. Scary stuff.

Oh Kathy, your poor dad. To have such a significant stroke at such a young age. My maternal grandpa died of a series of strokes but they didn't happen until he was older and weren't as severe as your dad's.

Oh my goodness, we had the most wonderful surprise this evening. DH, DD2, and I were home and someone knocked. DH went to answer and I couldn't hear who was out there when who should walk around the corner but my SIL who lives in Idaho. She and my brother drove down today to be here for DD1's graduation. They came over to surprise us - mostly DD1 - but she wasn't home! She was with a friend practicing for a duet they are singing at the Friday program. So, she doesn't know they are here and we aren't going to tell her. I'm so excited that they came. A card came in the mail from them and I was honestly disappointed when I saw it in the mailbox. Sneaky, aren't they? I'm so happy to have them here and can't wait till DD1 knows!

Morning everyone as by the time you read this it will be morning.

Gracie I accidentally clicked on your name instead of your post on here...you are so glamorous...love your profile photo.

Specialists and Drs....Catherine I agree that some chiros can have you on what they call their preventative programme...first weekly for months, then fortnightly, then monthly. I used to go to one until hubby said all I was doing was helping him buy a brand new expensive car....so I stopped going. I just go to a physio now if my back is out....2-3 sessions max and fixed, plus exercises.

I have seen a few specialists in my time...ENT/plastic surgeon, Gynecologists....a few of those....specialist for my colonoscopies, Dermotologist, Eye specialist and I always see a Dr when I know I’m sick. I once was so sick and badly diagnosed and ended up in hospital for 8 days with a kidney infection, septicemia and pneumonia. I thought I’d never get out of there again and my number was up. The only other time I’ve felt close to this was when my cyst on my ovary burst and I had blood internally. I’m grateful for the care I had during those times.

Sleep apnea is scary. I keep asking hubby to go and be tested as I have to dig him in the ribs when he stops breathing when he lies on his back. Two friends have it....one is in a machine and the other just a mouthguard.

Catherine, how wonderful that your DD2 has found an outfit...and heels for the special party. I used to be similar at that age....not really into heels...now I love them lol.

As for today.....I’m back from the Drs, $90+ for meds and have just popped my first duo antibiotic. I have a bad ear infection and also a crackle and slight chest infection. The ears are the worst and she wants to see me again on Saturday. Usually they don’t give antibiotics for the ears but she said they are so inflamed. She’s told me what to expect when they pop. Not looking forward to that bit. I have painkillers too plus a nasal spray...a different one to my nazonex. I’m to do my saline spray first....yuk. She says they are two different issues and no connection. No idea how I’ve got this. DIL1 is telling me that our DGS is still snotty and she hopes not from him.

At first she thought I had shingles....second time she’s thought this but no signs of a rash. I’m just so glad to have seen her and now hope the meds kick in quickly. I know when I’m unwell when I just pull on my trackies and go out only brushing my hair. I usually won’t go out without some lippy on as a minimum, and my hair is hideous after 3 days in bed but do I care....nope. Everyone in the Drs looked just like me lol.

Back in my jimjams but going to lounge on the couch for a while under my new comfy throw rug.

Hope that you were all well and had pleasant dreams. Happy day

Kathy your dad was very young to have a stroke.

Catherine, it was a nice sneaky surprise you got. We did that with my sister 2 years ago after her major op...we walked down her path and she saw us and thought she was seeing a ghost. She lives in the UK and was recovering after ovarian cancer. I’ll never forget the look on her face and her asking why was I there and how had I got there....she was in such shock. Enjoy your time with family.

I’ll keep this short and sweet...ha!! Sis Jayne appt for mama is already set for tomorrow. And other eye tue. Blahhhh still need to find a new PC day c I so am heavy on my heart about the one I am stuck with atm..... so not happy with her and it’s gotten worst since my last visit. Horrible and rude and I surely wanna tell her and her nasty staff who had some nerve and attitude that when I go that 3 that will no longer sign thier pay checks!! They forget that if people don’t elect to go there they’d have no pay check or job. It’s not a tide but the truth and after my last visit I’m so disappointed in thier lack of professionalism. To slip into thier Philippino language when they speak perfect English is very rude and clearly they are speaking so I don’t understand what they saying. Bit as god would have it both Des and I over heard them saying nasty stuff about me . And they wonder why so many people left their office.
Well I pray and hope all is well and don’t mind me being in and out just so much going on .
Sis Jayne glad your back but pray you get to feeling better soon!!
Oh my Sis Kathy Ewww at those critters so hate them !! In that retired group to rehome is there hunter green or anything that dark green? I seem to have such a hard time getting that color and turquoise.i have a few shades of green just the hardest time getting the one looks closes or is hunter green.

Big Sis wow nice porch and do you water those plants high up ? Gosh talk about lots or work there to keep those plants alive and thriving on a daily basis!!

Wow Sis Ann and it’s not even Friday either!! Well your so great when it comes to taking the grands and you still have all that work in getting ready for your company

Aloha and love everyone!,

D-Day at 75. Did anyone see President Trump give his speech at Normandy this morning? Seventy-five years since the invasion at Normandy in 1944. That’s the year DH was born.

After years of argumentative and unhelpful primary doctors I finally have one who listens to me and takes time instead of running patients through like cattle every 15 minutes. My dentist and I had a falling out after I made a major screaming and tearful complaint about his lackadaisical treatment in front of people waiting in the front room. He was a total jerk. My dermatologist is the absolute best and so helping when I developed the plaque psoriasis after being bit by bed bugs, even gave me hugs. Sooooo, two out of three is good!

Jayne, oh my goodness, are you feeling ANY better at all? You poor girl, I feel so bad for you! Hugs and more hugs, from a distance, of course.

Little Sis, are you exhausted by all these doctor appointments by now? Keep your chin up, dear, we are all keeping you in prayer.

And yes, I take each plant down every morning and talk to it and touch the leaves. I want them all to be happy! They are my green babies. I have the instructions that came with each plant tucked under its pot, some need partial sun, some full sun, and some shade, so I have them on shelves according to what they need. This is my latest therapy, it has taken the place of paper crafting for the time being. Once I get that durned back porch the way I want it, THEN I can get back to my lovely cards. Speaking of the back porch, today is the first day of the sale, and I’m so hoping the owners didn’t decide to keep that potting bench because I have such plans for it. :(

Below is a photo of the corner where I want that bench, also one I didn’t mean to post of the other corner, lol. Still stuff to get rid of in the room, and where that chair is, I would like a big white wicker chair. So many ideas, so little money, lol. DH put up the shelves around the window sides of the porch, and with the leftover barn wood he put up a board on the brick wall so I could hang stuff up. I pulled out the old rusted and bent nails that have been on the porch for 30 years and then pounded them back in the old piece of wood.

Oh my gosh, I have to post this photo of a big beetle that almost flew into the house when I let Dusty out last night! It’s HUGE, over 2 inches. I was lying in bed later trying to identify it, and again this morning. What I found is called a Stag Beetle, harmless unless irritated, and it eats decaying wood. I suggested to DH he may have brought it home with the old barn wood. Now the poor thing is out of its habitat. The articles I found said to please not kill them, they are beneficial to the environment. I have never seen one before!

Kandie...eek re the beetle. We get them that big too. Yuk. Another yuk re the spiders.

Yes I’m feeling much better tonight thanks. I’ve had two lots of antibiotics and sprays already and think they are starting to kick in. The pain in my ears is lessening. My cough doesn’t seem to be too bad tonight. Small things but I don’t do sick well. I’m hoping tomorrow I can get back to normal. I want to play. Doubt I will see the poppets this weekend but we shall see how I feel by Saturday.

Have a wonderful day. Your porch looks lovey and I can imagine a big white wicker chair in there.

Good morning! It is a lovely, breezy morning today. Yesterday it was near triple digit weather, if not triple digits. So warm, I had to turn on the AC last night when we got home to cool the house off. But it cooled off nicely so we were able to open the windows and enjoy fresh air. Thankfully, we are headed for a cool down for a couple of days, then the heat is back.

I told you all my exciting news last night. Now I have to be careful what I say to DD1 because we don't want to spoil her surprise!

Jayne, I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. Yay!

Vickster, I'm sorry to read that your primary care physician - and staff - are so rude and pray you can find a good doctor to deal with. You are right, they have forgotten that without patients, they would be out of a paycheck! Praying your appointments go well and just praying for you with all that is going on.

Kandie - your enclosed porch is wonderful. Praying you get the potting bench!

Yikes, that is a big beetle! If DD1 had encountered that when taking Honey out, we would all have known about it because I'm sure she would have screamed!

Hmmm about the spider post. That is concerning as that is generally how I deal with spiders on the floor, the stomp and twist!

Ann, what a great idea to have Jack help you plant flowers. I'm sure it was fun for him plus he was probably quite happy to be helping. Great memories! Sorry that Athena barfed again, poor Athena and poor you!

Jayne, so glad the Dr. could determine what was wrong! Sounds like a lot! You poor gal! So glad to hear the meds are starting to work! Have a good sleep!

Sis Vicki, hoping all goes well with all your Dr. appointments! Hopefully, you'll have all of this behind you soon so you can really enjoy life again! Hugs Tita! (oops it autocorrected to "tits" LOL).

Catherine, what an exciting week for you and family! I would really have a hard time keeping the secret from DD1. Wow, DD2 has really moved out of her comfort zone with a skirt and high heels! Such a fun week for you!

Ann, so sorry to hear about Athena, poor girl. Hope you find some time to relax with all your preparations for your end of the month family gathering.

Kandie, such fun with your plants and lovely porch! What a great hobby and so many new friends to talk to! Crossing my fingers for the table you'd like to get.

Kathy, I think I've had as many medical doctors as you have had. Hopefully, no more doctoring for awhile! Maybe, we got all of that nonsense out of the way and our senior years will be great! One can only hope!

Have a great day all! I may have missed some posts, Hi Shirl, Sharon, Annette and Melody, too.

Mahalo Fairy Much Sis Gracie!! Funny it changed it to tits !! After all they are going to be the focus for today’s appt !! Especially the right side!!

Aloha my prayer warriors need those prayers to make sure it’s just they didn’t get good pix and needed more and not found something that they are focused only on the right side.
Then tue is sure coming along fast and furious and gosh I am so already in pain just thinking of thier in house specialist Mr Digger. My hand is still black and blued from him our last visit and still pain resides in my hand still . It not even gone and I have to endure this man again!! Yikes and now double yikes!! Please in your prayers can you ask for a special that it won’t be horrific like the last time or ask that I feel no pain plz? You know it’s bad when I’m worried more about getting the iv in then my actual surgery
Well all have a great day !!

Kandie, we call those pinching bugs because it looks like pinchers on the front! I don't kill them because I just don't like the sounds and feelings of squashing things that a big.

Went to demo friends to go through the stuff she's getting rid of. She always let's me go through it first. Then the rest of our group goes through it at class. We went out to LSS. She got my clear spectrum noir sparkle brushes in and never called me. Luckily she still had them. I also got two bottles of tombow glue and two new oxide inks with refills.

Hi girls, I’m checking in before bed.

Jayne, I’m so glad your antibiotics are starting to work.

Little Sis, I’m also glad you have one less appointment to worry about now.

On Mr Beetle, I did read that it is also called a pinching beetle. I still can’t believe I’ve never seen one before.

Well, I was the first one at the sale; I got there an hour early. DSS1 yelled at me to go away, they weren’t open yet, which is what he tells me every time, lol. Then he said come on in, ma Kandie, which surprised me because NO one gets in early. He said make myself a pile by the checkout area and just pretend I was working there. So I did. YES THE TABLE WAS STILL THERE, whoohoo! DH will bring it home tomorrow. I found some stuff for the porch, old wicker plant stands that I’ll paint for footstools. Two vintage tablecloths that were stained but had a pretty pattern, a rickety little white table on its last legs (is that called primitive or shabby chic? some other stuff. DH was working in the back yard and getting frustrated because someone was tearing off the price tags of all the lawn equipment. Glad I don’t work there anymore.

I hear a dog snoring so I should turn out the light. Wishing everyone a good night and better tomorrow. Bye!

I didnt take a lot from demo, Ann. I kept saying this is cute, but would I use it? I am trying to be better at buying only what I will use. I have sets I really should go through and get rid of. I'm so afraid I will need it the minute I get rid of it!

I did get some DSP that I will use on a project, got buttons galore, mica flakes for shaker cards, treat cups for cards filled with candy....I think that's it. At my LSS I got a three pack of the spectrum noir brushes, two bottles of glue and two more oxides with refills. Now that I typed that, it seems familiar. Maybe I already told you!

I watched fireworks from my kitchen window! Our town is the first in the area to have their carnival. I didn't realize fireworks were planned for tonight! I kept hearing the booms and then DS1 texted to ask if I could see them. I was about to tell him no but I can hear them and then I looked out the window and saw them! Last night we had hot sausage sandwiches and funnel cakes. I love funnel cakes!

Yay, Kandie! So glad you got the potting bench. I, too, look forward to photos of your enclosed porch.

I just got home with DD1 from getting some last minute things for this weekend and i should be getting things done but had to pop in here and see what everyone has been up to.

Well, almost time for bed for me.
My DH brought my mom up today and she's staying overnight. I'll take her home tomorrow. We "beer butt chicken" on the grill and then we played cards. She loves to play cards.

Kathy that funnel card looks yummy! Sounds like you got a few good finds at your demo's sale.

Yay Kandie, you scored your table and some other goodies at the sale! Good for you!

Goodnight Ann!

Yay Sis Vicki! One more Dr. visit over with! I'll keep you in prayers for future eye surgery too!

Catherine, the big weekend is almost here! Enjoy!

Well, have to get to bed, my mom will be up early tomorrow. Goodnight all.

She actually wasn't having a sale. She had a yard sale weeks ago. This was leftovers and she was giving it away! So tempting to haul stuff, but still have no room for stuff I may not use!

Happy Friday and good morning to all!

Jayne, so glad you are on the way finally to recovery! And guess what? I found a white wicker chair in the basement at the sale! But I tell you, around here, starting a sale on a Thursday means dealers attack everything in sight like a school of piranhas. They will actually argue over stuff! I’m so glad DSS1 allowed me early access because they weren’t even looking at prices, just piling stuff up, and I’m so glad I got some things before they did.

Ann, are you refreshing flower beds or creating new ones? Don’t you find it relaxing to dig in the dirt and create beauty? And oh no on Athena barfing again. I may have forgot but did the vet say what was causing her vomiting?

Catherine, it’s Friday and graduation is just around the corner! I so look forward to seeing photos!

Kathy, I asked DH if he killed the beetle or swept it off the porch. He said he took a broom and just pushed it into the flower bed. I’m glad he didn’t kill it. Super find on goodies your LSS was getting rid of! Can’t wait to see new creations! And oh my did that funnel cake look GOOD! I can almost smell the warm butter and cinnamon from here!

Gracie, I’m so glad your mom likes to play cards and you have enjoyable times. Good memories you both are creating.

Good morning Shirl, Sharon, Annette, Melody and anyone I have missed!

i had something happen yesterday that is really bothering me. I had seen the inside of the sale house a few days earlier, we had gone in the front door, I remember the layout, and I had peeked into the crowded garage. Yesterday the access to get in was through the garage. DH was standing there, and I said I’ve looked at everything twice and don’t think I’ve missed any rooms. Where is the access door to the garage? He laughed and said dear, you’re standing in it. Did you mean the shed?

No, I had meant the garage and totally spaced out I was standing in it. I tried to brush it off as being tired, but a man standing nearby gave me the strangest look.

This event has really upset me. Am I getting senile? I haven’t had an episode like that since right after my neck surgery in 2009.

I would like your honest opinion?

Morning!

Kandie, sometimes your mind is on different things and you just don't give it a thought as to where you are or what you are going to do next. I'm sure you had a lot on your mind! Don't worry unless it is something that happens to you all the time!

And take Vitamin B complex!!! It helps with the mind!!

I'm off to work outside again!

We are completely redoing all the beds and rock in the back yard!! Had five pallets of stuff delivered the other day from Menards! Rock, mulch, and dirt!!

Later everyone, enjoy your day!!

Catherine, thinking of your family on this wonderful weekend!! Hugs!!

Kandie, I agree with Ann. At those sales, there are so many things everwhere, you are not really paying attention to your location, just what you are looking at and looking for. And hoping you didn't miss anything important. And 'shopping' is also emotionally and physically tiring, because your emotions are on a roller coaster as you see things you like/want and then have to decide if you are going to get them or not.

AC man is coming to install this afternoon -- yay!

Thank you so much for your feedback. I really was stressed, I admit it. I had tripped over steps going up twice because I didn’t lift my foot high enough, I was worried about stuff I had seen before and wanted for the back porch getting sold before I could find them again, it was so hot and humid in that house that I was dehydrated and could hardly swallow, and people were running around and bumping into me everywhere as I tried to focus. Maybe it was just too much. I know as soon as I left I got something to drink, did one errand instead of the three on my list, and came home and sat down.

Ann, vitamin B complex is one I do not take. I have to buy Zyrtec today so I will add that to my list, thank you for the suggestion. Have fun in your piles of dirt and mulch today!

Melody, thank you as well, and YAY on the AC getting fixed!

I burrowed around DH’s garage and found the drill and screw gun so now I am moving nails around and taking things off the wall in the house to hang in the porch, lol. Here is a photo from just now. I had bought the small wicker rocker, the white twig table, the bigger white wicker chair, the handmade quilt laying on it, the red apron, the clay pots, and the wicker plant stand and sprayed white to make a foot stool. The flower pillow is new from Pier 1. Tonight the cranky old potting bench comes home with DH, and I’ll probably move stuff around again!

(Shhhhh, don’t tell DH but I think I saw another wicker chair at a used furniture store last week and I am leaving soon to go see if it is still there!)

I didn’t realize it but the quilt edging is made from the tops of drapes, like cafe curtains!
