Fun pictures Jen. I worked for Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt when he was Governor of Utah. That feels like another life time ago. Somewhere, I have a picture with the president, before he was the president. But I think the coolest person I ever got my picture taken with was Margaret Thatcher when she visited Utah more than 10 years ago.
Missi- How fun for y'all. I forgot that was going to be on today and I missed watching it.
Lisa- Can't wait to see what your water coloring looks like.
My friend who is a lifelong Republican and me the Dem. (who have agreed to disagree ) both admitted that we'd love to sit down and have a beer and chat with the oppossing president and ex-president (Clinton for her - Bush for me). We are both intelligent and reasonable to know that though we may not like the decisions he (or someday she!) makes, the process is still an amazing one.

Reason: typo
I particularly like the way NH does things. I did not grow up here - have only been here 6 1/2 years, but it is amazing! I have been to house parties and met every Dem. pres. candidate. I've seen Bill Clinton speak too - and regardless of what you think, he is an amazing speaker - no teleprompters when I saw him - I know, I looked. I was also invited to the Rep. ones too - but there is not enough time to do them all. I tried to be informed and took my responsibility as the first in the nation primary seriously.
I would hate to see them change the primaries. Only because it is only in states such as Iowa and NH (population 800,000) that you can get away with the whole house party thing, where you can meet a candidate up close and personal and ask the tough questions. For all the trouble Edwards got himself in, I was darn impressed at a house party when someone asked a very complicated question about farming and agriculture and he managed to answer it.
Just really intersting stuff......
Though, I'd still like to meet Shelli one day!! Is she running for office any time soon?

I was a Poli Sci major in college so it all fascinates me. Even when I was a child, I was very interested in politics. You are very lucky in NH. With the earlier primary here, we did get some candidates to pay a bit more attention to us, but nothing like house parties.
Don't think if I didn't use your card for inspiration that I didn't like it, or won't draw inspiration from it soon. But I was in a huge creative slump this week and y'all really bailed me out! Thanks everyone!
Okay, so working on the lots of layers card and trying so hard to incorporate ribbon into my card, but it is not working...I have a piece of linen thread on it, but is that going to meet the "ribbon requirement" of the swap?
Here are the requirements:
SU Only current products (from Fall/Winter 2008 Catalog or current promotion mini or country living set)
5x5's, 4.25 x 5.5, minimun of 8 layers including your punched images (should be multiple layers as well)
Cardstock should be: Regular SU C/S, Textured C/S layer and DP layer. do not use White as your base card.... use your colored CS please.
Minimun of 2 different punches used (that's easy trust me... scallop with 2 circles, or ticket corner your layers and pierce)
At least one ribbon
At least 3 Brads, eyelets or buttons have to be on the card somehow
The sentiment can be layered and focal stamped image should be cut out and popped please.
Should I post a photo so ya'll can see what I have? I am happy with the card myself, but want to make sure it meets all the reqs KWIM.
I'd love to see what you're thinking, Lisa. Those requirements are sure intimidating!! I get why she has them listed - but I agree, sometimes ribbon just doesn't fit on a card!
Without a picture, it's hard to offer advice. Can you squeeze a knot or a ribbon flag somewhere. Maybe a flag poking out from between some of those layers somewhere? That sounds like an intimidating swap to me. Good luck!
I know many of you make your own soups, but I just tried the new Campbell's Healthy all natural stuff, and it is yummy! Great to have on hand for when you're sick....like me.
Lisa, what if you tied a ribbon around the lower left corner of your Top Note (with a knot)? Or across the middle, with the knot hanging down in that same left corner?
okay - so here are some options...I am thinking that I should order the narrow grosgrain in olive instead of Chocolate if I decide on one of those...
I am listening to my Nana for inspiration - explanation is she sang in Sweet Adelines for over 30 years and their chorus made an album at one point. I recorded eons ago onto a cassette tape. She was a bass and in some of the songs I can pick her out. I found the cassette after thinking I had lost it a long time ago. Yesterday I cried while listening to Pal of my cradle days...Okay, back to the card issue...
Hi ladies! I just popped in because I knew you'll would be honest with me and tell me how this card looks and if you'd like it. It's for the manly swap I'm hostessing and I've just really had a hard time with this one. My other group I had not problems with but this one has given me fits. Please tell me what you think and any suggestions you have. You won't hurt my feelings! Promise! Then I'm going to read and catch up on everyone's comings and goings. It's been a busy week here and DH and I leave for Utah tomorrow! Can't wait!

Wow guys...you'll have been so busy!
Rhonda--your list exhausts me! I have several things on my to do list but not like yours. Wow!
Amy--having the Christmas workshop next month is such a great opportunity to sell those ornament kits! Sounds like your club is really going well.
Paula--glad your cupcake is being replaced, SU really is the best
Kathy--hope your parents arrive safely and you can enjoy their visit even with everything going on in your world
Trina--big hugs to you...please give me a call when we are both in SA for regionals. Even if we just meet up for a short while
Jen--enjoy your scrappin' weekend...I have one coming up in October
Lisa--love the 4th version of your swap card. Like them all but I do like what you did with the ribbon on the last one
Missi--sounds like so much fun going to the Good Morning Utah thing. When I went to CKU about 6 years ago, I got to be on GMU with Lisa Bearnson (from CK). It was fun but man we had to be up early for that! Such a long time ago but such good memories.
I have 5 boxes coming in from SU tomorrow from my clubs last weekend! The UPS man is not going to like me very much. I hope they come early so that I can sort before I have to leave for the airport.
I'm trying to finish up my manly swap so I can get started on my invitation only Upscale Swap and my SA Christmas swap. Plus, I guess I should think about club projects since we are meeting on the 11th (a week early) and maybe think about doing 25 or so swaps for regionals in San Antonio. Those are really low priority though since I've been doing so many swaps the last couple of months.
I'll check back afterwhile to see what you'll think about my swap card.
Thanks for looking!
Sharon

My scrapping weekend has been cancelled. :( The weather is expected to be pretty bad out here this weekend and nothing but rain. So, my friend cancelled it. Come to find out many of the MV ferries are being cancelled too, so we'd kind of be stuck on the island...not that that's a bad thing!
Unforunately, they have rescheduled for next weekend and I can't go. The STBX says he can't switch weekends to watch the kids. Mind you, I love my kids dearly and love being the primary parent, but it sometimes sucks that I have to depend on HIM for a break and the fact that I have no way to do things, if he can't. There's no way I can find someone to watch my kids overnight two nights! My parents live about 5 hours away so that is not an option either.
Really bummed... :( I've been sick all week, so laying in bed, sleeping this weekend sounds great, but I will surely be crying next weekend when I could on the Vineyard instead......
Sharon- I second what Jen said. Great Card just the way it is and I would be happy to get it in a swap. If you feel like it needs something, maybe inking the edges of "Wanted" and "Happy Birthday?"
Have fun in Utah! We've had great (warm) weather here the past few days and it is suppose to continue for several more. It's even suppose to be down right HOT in southern Utah if that is where you are heading.
Lisa- I like the first one (with the stitched ribbon poking out from the side) and the last one (with the ribbon behind let's celebrate) the best. Great card!
Oh Jen, I am sorry about your weekend! I wish I were closer, I would take you kids next weekend. Not having any of my own, that is an aunties perogative. ;)
Sharon - love the card, especially the element with the tab/rope. And have a super great weekend!
My last idea for my card, inspired by Sharon's is to use the rope instead of the linen thread on the mittens...which I would have to order (thought I did, but hmmm, guess I missed that on my pre-order). I have to order more DSP anyway, so that is no hardship. So far I am leaning towards the first one or the 4th one...but now I want to see my mittens with rope.

LOVE the idea of the mittens on the rope. The rope comes apart easily so it would be simple to take it apart and just use one strand on the mittens so it won't be such a thick rope on those little mittens!
Thanks everyone for the input, I like the idea of sponging the edges of the words. I think I have my design in place now. I only have to make six so it won't be hard to knock those puppies out.
We are headed to Canyonlands and back to Arches. We went to Arches a couple of years ago but ran out of time and didn't see/do as much as we'd hoped so we are going back there. We did the hike to Delicate arch so we probably won't do that again because there is so much else we want to do there. If we have time we might go over to the Bridges monument...just depends on the time though. We spend so much time in Utah that we really need to get a place there...maybe someday!

Great News - my swap cards are postal!!!! I even got to the P.O. before it closed, LOL! (like 2 1/2 hours before it closed!)
I realized as I was getting ready to mail them that I hadn't taken a picture. So I grabbed one with my cell phone. Not a great picture - and it really faded out the great contrast on the watercoloring, but wanted to share. For being super stressed, I think the card turned out okay.
Lisa, I love all of your cards. But I'll cast my vote with Jen for the O Olive and Brown.
And, BTW, I'm a Sweet Adeline, too! I did classical singing for a long time, singing with the Utah Symphony Chorus, etc., but when I moved to TN 5 years ago, my MIL talked me into going with her to rehearsal. I was hooked and have loved it ever since. I am on a leave from the chorus here 'cause my life is too hectic right now. 'Pal of My Cradle Days' is such a beautiful song. I'm glad you can
Paula, those are great cards. I am honored that you would case my card - you did a great job! and now I think I'll have to case yours!
Sharon, your card is super! Your fellow swappers are lucky to get this card. Have fun in Utah!
Jen, I'm sorry you're sick and that your weekend is a bust! Sleep and get better.
My dd's amnio showed that the baby's lungs are fully developed, so it's a go! She's going to the hospital tonight and getting meds to soften the cervix and tomorrow they'll start the drip and hopefully it won't take too long.
So we're off to see her tomorrow. I can't wait until next week when I can go back and spend a whole week holding the new baby!
Seems like I've live a week in the past 3 days! Sounds like the rest of you are just as busy, too.
Kathy
Kathy its great! Have a wonderful time with the new grandbaby! I would love to sing again...haven't done much since choir in high school and an occasional turn with the praise team at church, but they don't get as much rehearsal as I need! I am pretty good at melody by ear though.
I am going to order the rope and use that, see how it looks from there.
I love to sing too. I was just thinking today that after my son is a bit older, I would like to get into one of the many choirs around here. I have a friend that sings in three different choirs and I am very jealous of her. Of course, her kids are grown and out of the house. So right now, I'll just settle for singing in the choir at church. And I'd love to take voice lessons and piano lessons again. Guess I need a piano first. I played a bit as a child but it's pretty much gone now.
Kathy- I love the card. Great work under pressure. Have a great time with your grandchildren and your parents!
Sharon- I love Moab/Canyonlands/Arches. We haven't been there for several years. In fact, I think I've been to Disneyland five times since I've been to Moab and Moab is sooooo much closer. I'll put it on the list for next year.
Here is a thumbnail of my card...maybe Paula's idea could work...
Love this. How do you attach the photos like that? (I know, no one should comment that I'm an internet analyst for a big company and don't know the answer myself....)

Love it - I really like the lasso and think the colors are great.
