I concur, Ellie for President! LOL!

Missi - I am not ready for snow yet...still enjoying the fall colors...this is the last few days of them though.

Pumpkin bars were fabulous! DH wants me to make another pan!

Girls, my parents have been in a car wreck....from what I hear through the grapevine, my mom's hip is broken (which is bad since she has rheumatoid arthritis) and my dad's knee is probably broken. They live 2 hours east of me, and they are in the hospital in Ft Smith, Arkansas which is 2 hours east of them. I will be going there in the morning if not tonight. I haven't spoken with them yet unfortunately.

I have my swaps cut for the SA, but that is all I've done. I will update again if I definitely have to flake.

Rhonda,
Don't know if you'll even have time to check in here before you go - if there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. Kids, animals, house, etc.

And not that you even need to worry about the swap, but I'd be glad to finish them for you if you want.

Prayers and hugs for you and your parents.

Rhonda,

Praying for your parents...

I know that it's little comfort now, but my mom also has RA and broke her hip in a fall at my home (when little guy was 2 weeks old). She is fine now!! She walks a couple of miles a day and goes to Curves 5 days a week. She swims in the summer and pretty much does everything she did before. She is on Enbrel, which has been a lifesaver.

If you have to flake, please flake. But, you might want to bring something with you for you and your mom to do! Probably they will end up in a nursing care facility doing lots and lots of PT before they go home, so you will have a lot of waiting around to do, unfortunately. I highly recommend this, instead of going straight home. Both injuries are very painful and they do have to learn to walk again. Thankfully, and I hope yours are too, my mom was stubborn and insisted on doing extra each day to get OUT! One tip - she'd wait on the pain pills until 40 min. before each PT session, so she was at optimum pain relief during the session, so she could do a lot.

I hope all is OK. Please let me know if I can help in anyway.

Rhonda - I'm so sorry your parents are hurt! Don't worry about the swaps! Jen makes alot of good points about rehab. I have been an orthopedic nurse for 18 years and as long as they are motivated and mobile, they'll do well. Pain pills take at least 20-30 minutes to work, pt's in pain don't recover as easily as patients whose pain is at a tolerable level (they can sleep and do their therapy). I have lots of other tidbits for recovery and nurses love to help!
Take care and keep us updated when you can.

Rhonda - I hope that everything is okay. If your parents have the same spirit that you do, I'm sure that will go a long way for a quicker recovery for them. I know I'm not close to you in location but if there is anything I can do from Boise, let me know!

OH my!! So much news in just a short time--it's hard to keep up!

Rhonda-First and foremost, my prayers are with you and your parents. Please be careful in your travels and don't worry about us. Right now, you take care of what you need to!

Jen and Amy-glad to hear you are both feeling better. {{hugs}} to both of you!

Paula-Exciting news for you and glad to hear you are enjoying Disney. Best wishes for a speedy decision and process, I know adoption can be lengthy and stressful!

Kathy-LOVE the baby pictures..glad to see you made it back home as well and I love the box as well!!

Missi-Hope school is going well, it's getting nearer to the end of the semester..best of luck with tests!!

And everyone else with news--{{hugs}} to everyone who needs them, just so much to keep up with!!

My husband and I are trying to stay positive with the Wachovia buy out. He has been there 14 years and it's hard to think your life can be totally turned upside down in 1 weekend...but I know this will pass because if the Lord leads you to it, he will certainly lead you through it. I just have to keep telling myself that over and over again.

Hope the economic situation is being a gentle as possible on my SA family.

Good night from the East Coast..early day in the AM!

Angie I hope your husband can keep his job! Our neighbor just lost his. He is in marketing and by his own admission that is one of the first to be let go.

My DH is civilian dept of defense so it will take longer to get to him, but it is scary for everyone right now.

My dad has been released and is going home (we'll pick him up on our way to Fort Smith in the morning), but my mom has surgery in the morning. I am sorry, but I am not going to be able do my SA swap ladies. (Maybe I'll just send them to you all as Christmas cards ) I appreciate your prayers so much!

Checking in from San Diego! We walked to the beach this evening to watch the sunset. So beautiful!

Rhonda- So sorry about your parents. Adding my prayers to everyone elses. Take care of yourself and travel safe and don't worry about anything that isn't that important (like your swaps).

Angie- Hope the merger is kind to your DH. I love your attitude and I am going to adopt your slogan as my new mantra. Take care my friend.

Jen- Our school does the 20 minute reading thing too. I've heard that children who see their parents reading will develop a love of reading too. My nephew has Aspergers. Several people in my family (me too) have read "Look me in the Eye" by John Elder Robison. It was very insightful to me and left me very hopeful for my nephew's future.

Add me to the "Ellie for President" group.

I've had a busy week. My first interview was yesterday and went well. Very insightful into our management structure but I still think I can do some good there. I have another interview tomorrow and then two on Thursday. I hope I can find enough "interview" outfits that still fit to wear!

I had a camp Thursday & Saturday with 17 people and no one bought anything. Was a little surprised but it was okay - the camp fees were nice. My newbie camp only had 4 people come - FOUR PEOPLE for a camp I spent forever putting together. It was still good though (silver lining) becuase I have a basic demonstrator workshop put together and all I have to do is substitute the snowmen for flowers and I have a spring beginner class to invite people to. The hostess placed a $150 order to get benefits and that was nice. Tonight was my experienced group and it was a $400+ party so with those two and the impromptu order I got tonight, it all turned out okay. Now I can spend some time with DH - he's looking forward to that.

Hope all is well with all of you and I'll keep you in my thoughts!

Rhonda - I'm glad your dad is being released, my continued prayers for your Mom! Hope all goes well with the surgery, keep us posted.

Jen - I cannot speak for everyone else, but if you don't have another back up for Rhonda's swap I am OK with donating the xtra to your card ministry, whatever everyone else decides is fine with me.

Paula,

I'll have to check out that book. We are a reading family. I make time to read the Sunday paper and the kids see me reading that and the multiple books I have going on at one time! My son has started reading the captions in the sports section too. He likes that - easy enough. We never "time" our reading, since I do think reading should be a love and not a "job", but being a teacher, I do understand why they want you to time it - to get some families reading!

Rhonda,

Don't worry about the swaps, just worry about your mom. And be an advocate for her whereever they place her. It will all be OK.

Rhonda - keeping you and your family in my prayers

Paula - I'm so jealous you're at the beach!

Stacy - Hang in there! That's alot of interviews! Maybe you "need" to buy a new fun outfit for them I'm sure your interviews will go well and the outcome will be just what it should be. Way to go with your SU events! And you're so prepared. I have my club this Saturday and I haven't even decided what to do!

Angie - I hope all goes well with your DH's job.

I think I'm caught up with all the news! Everyone have a great day!

Default Question for you all

So in the stamp set "Puns from the Past", there is something that looks like a pizza cutter and says "sorry about that". What is that a pun for ? I'm so confused!

Well, I have that set now due to the free offer. I'm putting it together and was just scratching my head on that one! Let me know how many you want, what color ink and paper and I'll send it with my swaps, cards for your ministry and your hostess set you won.

Well, you are just the sweetest....whatever works for you, but I'm thinking white paper - black, grey or brown ink...whatever... thanks darling!! It wouldn't be a big deal, except I have sooooo many pictures of PopPop's famous pizza with the boys....plus it will be funny to use that for a page!! I don't know....maybe 8? Just stamp them side by side and I'll cut them out and use them as accents! I need to make 2 double page spreads...Make it easy for yourself!! I got Just Jawing with the offer....I like it, but what am I going to do with it?? Which is how I felt about the Puns set too.....Let me know if I can RAK you back with that set....

You all are just wonderful. I love getting all caught up with the chatter for the day - except for the yucky news, but all the support is heartwarming. I consider myself so very blessed to have you all as my cyber/long distance friends.

Hey, ya'll - just chiming in. I've settled in in Houston and will be finishing the Christmas swaps this weekend. Thanks to everyone for your support a couple of weeks back. Things are much better.

Rhonda, take care of yourself and your family. They come first.

No biggie Jen - I got the Just Jawing as well but in the same boat as you - now what do I do with it? We are dressing as pirates this year for Halloween so it might come in handy?

Anyone else want some pizza cutters?

I'm hoping to get my SA swaps done tomorrow and so will get everything in the mail by this weekend.

My mom actually had/has one of those old erasers kicking about. I loved playing with the brush end.

Angie - can you point me in a good direction for a web site to find the pathophysiology of drugs? I need to do a power point on Aricept, concentrating on how it works. Thanks!

I have an idea in my head for my SA swap and a couple for my club on Saturday morning. I want to get everything done Friday after work. It's going to be a late night!

I *heart* this thread, too!

But y'all have been too generous, and I am now in bed, having thrown up all last night. I tell ya, this virtual virus is contagious and yucky!

And to top it all off, my 13 year old DD, who has loved me and shown me great kindness as a teenager until this week, has decided that I am now the mother from you-know-where and is mad at me all the time! I can't do anything right.

She is my 6th teenage daughter. I'm tired. I'm too old to be a mother to teenagers anymore!

Thank goodness I am already in bed and have a good excuse to pull the covers over my head and hide!

I'm feeling old. I remember using one of those erasers when I was in typing class in high school. LOL
