Hello! Happy November !
January sounds good to try a blog hop.
Donna, I'd be happy to try to help.
Congratulations on the new job, Jessica.
I hope you get some news/relief from the specialist, Lori.
I can not imagine having each of your parents in the hospital/rehab at the same time; what a difficult time, Traci.
Good luck and have fun at the craft show, Gloria !
Enjoy your "quilting bee" with your mother, Theresa. You too, Diane.
Take care

It's been kind of quite around here for a few days, so I thought I'd peek in and say "hello" to one and all. Hope you're all having a great weekend of crafting! We're having our annual family girl gathering this weekend, and I just took a quick break. I'll catch up with blogs the first of the week.

Blessings,
Diane

Hi all.

I got busy today making card kits for our card makers club. I was going for a simple card but it turned out having about five layers, five die cuts and a cuttlebugged layer. I was cranking that handle so many times (I had twelve kits to make), but the card looks great and I'm sure the ladies will love it.

My parcel of fabric from the US is now somewhere in Australia, so I hope the take delivery of it tomorrow or the next day. Can't wait to rip that parcel open!

No work tomorrow, so I'll go and do some mowing and yard work I think. That should keep me out of mischieve. LOL

My LSS (which BTW is about 90 mins from my home, LOL), rang to tell me a die I ordered has finally arrived. It's a poinsettia flower in a few different sizes. I won a $10 voucher from this LSS last month for having a great tip to share with the girls, so I'll use that towards the purchase. And what was my amazing tip? I was showing the card ladies how I use wax paper in dies for easy release of the paper cuts.

Did I miss something? I've just gone back and reread your blog and this thread, but noone mentioned birthdays, or at least I can't see it anywhere.

I hope you had a lovely day.

Oops...sorry I missed it too, Donna! Hope you had a very happy birthday. At my age, I'd just as soon birthdays keep slipping by unnoticed, but it's still always nice to be remembered. I'll just send you all my best wishes for a wonderful day TODAY and maybe that will make up for the oversight. I just went to you blog this morning and saw that you mentioned it there.

Have a happy day!

Just a quick hello from me. I have been sick for the last 5 weeks or so. Every time I thought I was getting better, I ended up worse. I was diagnosed with bronchitis on Friday and was put out of work for that day & today. I'm on antibiotics (round 3 but with a different brand this time) and I think they are finally working along with the singulair the doctor put me on. Having asthma really stinks sometimes, I get sick and it takes forever to get better! I hope to catch up here once I'm better (which is hopefully very soon since it's making me crazy not to be able to do anything!)

Just popping in here to say that I won a Taylored Expressions Stamp set and match die for participating in the Hope Challenges. I do believe Donna won something too! Any one else from this group win anything?

Anyone here use TE products? I'll have to go and look at their blog to see what the TE girls get up to.

I always knew you all were a bunch of winners!! Happy for you!! I love Taylored Expressions, Theresa, but don't have their stamps...you'll have a good time with that stamp set and die...and Donna, with the certificate!!. I don't think I entered my cards in the right gallery to warrant a win, but that's okay.

Life has been a bit busy and tiring lately...but thanks for the well wishes with my parent's and my husband's dad.

Kristie, I hope you are on the mend, that is too long to feel bad...so sorry!!

Congrats on the wins, ladies!

Theresa - I LOOOOOOVE TE stuff!!! I subscribe to their Key Ingredients kits every month and usually end up buying at least one stamp set per release or their project pantry kits. The stamps are excellent quality!

Donna - Cat's Pajamas is another favorite company! Happy Shopping!

Thanks for the well wishes, Traci!

Hi girls. Whatcha bin doin'?

I've got a nasty little toothache at the moment, and I'm off to the dentist tomorrow to get it attended to. Ouch!!

Boyfriend and sons have just bought a dozer for the farm and I've been going over after work to sit beside him as he clears the land. It's a really old rattler, but it sure gets the job done.

Donna, have you figured out the 'why' I said what I said. Well, you left me a comment about joining my events out here in CA and would I be in NY for yours. I'm so funny, huh? Oh, Happy belated birthday.
Congrats to all you winners (Donna, Teresa, and Kristie). I guess I could say I am a winner too as I met some fabulous ladies at the last two craft shows and some may be coming to my events. One already has.
Kristie, I love poinsettias this time of year. I have a retired poinsettia wheel and will never part with it. I hope you are feeling better.
Teresa, I hope your tooth ache is gone.
I posted a card a while ago (French Foliage) and I'm so embarrassed because I forgot to change the schedule date and now it is showing out of place. My viewers must be so confused. I have a question. Does anyone know what kind of sealer I should buy for Ceramic tiles. I have already stamped them with Stazon and I think I am supposed to bake them for 20 minutes and then seal them. Is that correct? Take care and I'll be visiting your blogs soon.

Hi Gloria,

Gee, I'm so sorry I didn't hear you knocking at the door. I did see a trail of glitter going down the driveway!

I have never done the ceramic tile thing so I don't know how long to bake them or what to use to seal them. This sounds like something Heather might know.

I can see it now - my husband coming home from work and thinking I'm baking cookies in the oven and they are ceramic tiles ... lol. What a big disappointment that would be for him.

Hi girls,
If you google, Gina K's Stamp TV, she has many video segments and one is on ceramic tiles using the stazon inks. She does wonderful videos...and that is what I viewed before making mine. The "trick" I believe, is getting tiles that aren't too holy, and yet have some interesting mottling. You do not have to bake or use a sealer with the stazon...although I think a clear matte sealer spray might be beneficial.
She shows soaking the tiles in water and then wiping them after the ink has dried, and the ink doesn't come off. I have two here at home that have faded over the past year or so, though.
Another method of doing the tiles is stamping and coloring on white tissue paper, then modge podging with a matte modge podge. The coloring is much more vibrant, but you have to be careful not to smear the ink (guess how I know??). Then you can use a matte sealer. The tiles aren't too expensive, so you could experiment. Hope that is helpful!

Default tiles

Tracie and Donna, Thank you for the tile ideas. I will go see what Gina K has on her site. I had experimented by soaking one tile over night and it did not run nor fade. When I rubbed on the wet tile with my fingers, the ink did smear. I was disappointed as Stazon is supposed to be permanent. Maybe only on card stock. Yes, the tiles are inexpensive and I'm glad about that. I'm intrigued about the tissue with hodge podge. So I think I will play with that too. Thank you again for the help. I wonder what info Heather has?

Just a quick howdy to my glitz gals!! I finally felt Friday like I'm getting better but I still have to stay away from the computer as much as possible. Paige, I sent you a pm. Kristie, I hope you are feeling better too.
Don't you all love that our group spans across the world? My few minutes on the computer daily has involved checking in with stampin up and then quickly viewing the glitz blogs. Hugs to everyone!

Gosh, I feel we should be chatting more so you'll have some fun stuff to read, LOL. I pleased to hear that you're improving though, that's important.

I went to Brisbane on the weekend, but I very nearly didn't go as I planned. I told the boss at the pub that I'd be unavailable that weekend, and that it might be a good idea if he'd hire staff that would consistantly turn up for work, instead of me coming in week after week to fill in for them.

You guessed it, he rang - just as I was about to step into the dentist to get a tooth removed! Told him I'd re-arrange my week end, but warned him I could be cranky given that I might be in pain, LOL. ( I just can't say no to someone asking me to work either) Thankfully just as I stepped out of the dentist he rang back to say he found an alternative. Yay, the week end was all mine again.

I stayed overnight with my mum, had dinner with the ex and daughter (it's always good to still be able to have those family times), went to my card makers club, and lastly had dinner with my dad's wife. I don't know what part of the weekend I liked the best. It was all good!

I've been very busy making my Christmas cards since I came home with my new poinsettia dies. Not much blogging though :( I'll run around and catch up with a few blogs before I head off to bed. Hope you all have a great week.

I notice that the CAS design team challenges are on again. Hmmm.... very tempting!

Good morning everyone! Looks like we've been a little busier chatting here and that always makes me smile. I LOVE staying in personal contact with each of you. Know life gets busy for all, but it is so nice when you can check in and fill us in on your days.

I'll try to respond to all the news here, but my apologies ahead of time if I miss something.

BLOG HOP: Let's schedule it to start Friday morning, 9:00 CST, January 7th and let it run through the weekend...to Sunday night. (Theresa, I'll leave it up to you, sweetie to figure out the time difference and post accordingly.) That way you can post your own things on Monday morning. Does that sound workable? Remember, three projects of your choosing. I had suggested tags/packaging as one project when I thought it might be before Christmas...now that it will fall after that, just showcase three projects of your choice. Probably the more variety, the better anyway. We could do winter/Valentine themes IF YOU WANT, but it's not necessary, since Theresa is enjoying the spring and going into summer, flowers are more than permissible!!!

Kristie...hope you are now fully on the mend and feeling much better. You've been in my prayers and I'll continue to keep you snugly there until you are truly over the hump. Know you have to been worn out just from being sick. No fun. My daughter-in-love struggles with allergies/asthma and I know it's nasty stuff. Sending get-well hugs your way!

Theresa...I'm SO glad you are a part of our group. I love your posts and getting such interesting peeks into your world around the world from us. I just hooted when reading about you sitting beside your boyfriend on a dozer!! You are indeed versatile!! I can't thank you enough for the beautiful, encouraging card you sent to me. It was gorgeous...and so very thoughtful. Thank you for caring so deeply over my loss. I appreciate it so much. So glad you had a wonderful weekend. Don't you just love life when it goes so well like that? What a blessing to have sweet times with family!

Congrats to you wonderful winners (knew it all along). I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Taylored Expressions. My be one of my new favorites. I also am obsessing over the cute little Pure Innocence images from My Favorite Things. I'll have to check out Cat's Pajamas. All good...what can I say? My name is Diane Noble and I'm a stamp hoarder!!!

Traci, still in prayer for all parental concerns. Bless you, sweet sister. I know it's not easy when they are in trouble and you are called upon to offer help. It's hard to watch parents decline, and it's hard to be away from them. You and they will continue to be on my prayer list and in my heart. Thanks for the tips on stamping on tiles. I did it once a long time ago and really forgot how to do it. Appreciate the inspiration.

Jessica...how's the new job going? Hope you are finding time for fun.

Donna and Gloria...your "visiting" episodes were cracking me up! So glad we are a group who can laugh with each other, inspire one another and offer caring concern. You are the BEST group I've ever been a part of. Just love each and every one of you.

Update on me...I just got back from several days with my mom and sister. We had a blast making aprons. I made the cutest Christmas poinsettia one...and have fabric for seven more (four will be Christmas gifts). I'll have to take pictures and at least post here. It was great therapy for all of us, but the exciting thing is I have the bug for sewing again. I used to make all my clothes (way back), but gave that up when patterns got so expensive. Our apron patterns were regularly as high as $19!!!! Thank goodness they were having a sale and three pattern brands were $0.99. Got some adorable patterns. The outcome of that inspiration is that I'm revamping a corner of my craft room and consolidating all of my sewing stuff in one spot. I'll bring my Bernina embroidery machine down with my Elna and have quite the sewing center. Yesterday I took my precious daughter-in-love, Jori, shopping for an early birthday present. I bought her a new Janome sewing machine. It's so cool...I think my mother and I are going in on one together so we'll have one ourselves!!! This is going to be sew fun!!!

I'm rambling and the word limit police are likely to start searching for me if I don't quit. It's so fun to connect with all of you and I can't tell you how much I appreciate you. Have a great week of crafting fun.

Hello everyone ! I hope you are all doing well.
Can you believe Thanksgiving is nearly a week away?

I better get started on Christmas cards, otherwise I will need to resort to store bought this year ! I make every card different. I thought I'd put a pop up Christmas tree in each one this year, but got started on that project a little too late I think =) It's been so unseasonably warm the past month, it hasn't felt like October/November with the holidays creeping up.

Experiment with the tiles and inks you have, heat set and put on a light coat of sealant to be certain. There are many different "how to's". Something I discovered when I made a stamping mistake with black Stazon ink on a tumbled Bottichino tile: liquid bleach cleaned it off ! I soaked it on a rag dampened with bleach for a little while. Also, be sure your tiles are very clean before you start.

Question: when looking at your blogs the other day, I noticed that those of you with the little "blog feed" thingy for our group have a two week old post of mine showing up.. I guess there is some sort of setting that has changed because I've had numerous posts in the past two weeks, but they are not showing up? In fact, I am putting up a new one today: my most recent creation and contest entry. I guess I need to look for a help section at blogger. Weird.........

Morning, Heather!
You are most industrious to be making unique Christmas cards for the people on your list. I usually send out around 150, so I definitely go the mass assembly line route! And I go simple. Great tips on the tiles...didn't know that about the bleach. Very helpful information.

Not sure you can do anything to update the blogger feeds that are behind. I'm clueless on this one. But I checked out some of those blogs and you're right...way behind. Hmmm....I'll think on it, but I can't imagine why it's not automatically updating. Maybe it's a temporary glitch with blogger and they'll fix it soon. Hope you get it worked out. If you find out how to fix, let us know.

Good to see you here! Have a blessed day!

Blog hop themes. I'm thinking 'Winter' would be a workable theme for me. I've got a couple of snowflake stamps that I could put to good use. I could do Valentines too. I could challenge myself to create a pink dozer shaped card stamped all over with love hearts, LOL. Then I could give it on the day, when we're having a picnic in the paddock that he cleared, just for the occassion. ( yeah, now I'm day dreaming )

Weather has been warming up a lot down here. Humidity has been rising and it finally rained ( again!!) after a two week build up. My boyfriend bought me in some new season corn on the cob, which I'm told is fetching top dollar at the moment. The recent rains have produced bumper crops for beans. Thats what my boyfriend plants.

My home backs onto a farmers paddock which has pumpkins growing in it and some of them have climbed over the fence into my yard, so in a few months I'll have pumpkins ready to harvest without the work of looking after them. Once I made up a recipe for Pumpkin pancakes that were simply delicious and perfect for the lunchbox.

Diane, you'll have to show us some of those aprons. My mother has just dragged her embroidery machine out, given it a good dust off, and is ready to go. She's already eyeing off one of the latest models. She bought some really cute fabric with witches hats (the traffic kind, not the halloween kind) and made me a small tote LOL. I haven't seen it yet, but I did tell her to keep the fun fabric to the inside coz if I take it to work with me it will get tossed in the back of the ute.

Hmmm..... what's a ute? I think you call it a pick-up, maybe?

I've had this morning free so i've been having a good look thru SU! catalogues. Looking at current, about to be released, US and Aussie catalogues. I have to say, I'm totally lovin' the stuff in you're soon to be released mini. I'm know we're not getting a lot of it in our new mini :( but I'm holding out that SU! will include some of the sets I like when the next mini comes out in a few months from now. In the meantime I'll just have to watch what you'll all be creating with them.

Speaking of SU! stamps, I really like (no.... love) the two step rose sets they've had in the past. I own Wild Roses, and A Rose is a Rose. Kicking myself that I didn't get Roses in Winter before it retired, what was I thinking!! Looking thru the galleries I sometimes come across older sets like this. Can any of you tell me the names of any of the older two-step rose sets, or link to the gallery here?

I'd love to be able to buy them if ever they became available for sale, but since I don't know the names I'm kinda in the dark with identifying them. If you ever see any for sale somewhere, I'd love a link to it!

Has anyone ever thought if creating a web site with just SU! catalogues, including all the past issues. I'm sure it would be well referenced.

Ladies,

Just a heads up that next week is going to be real busy for me. I will visit everyone as time permits. Although I won't be doing any stamping I plan to have some pre-posts so please feel free to stop by.

Wishing all of you a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!

I haven't seen the soon to be relesed mini, when is it supposed to be released? I stopped my SU club, which means I am not obligated for a monthly spending...which is good because now I can wait and buy something that I really want when I want to. I do have the Roses In Winter set, but none of the others.

My FIL is still in the hospital and having ongoing surgeries, each time taking more of his leg...it has been rough around here. My parents are still in the care/rehab center but have received many many cards from SCS'ers and that has made it a little bit nicer for them. We have wonderful people here!! And I am just wanting everyone to get better soon and be home.

Thanksgiving at our house is not totally set, just waiting to see when Grandad gets out of the hospital and if he can be home, then we go there. So just waiting on that.

Will try to check out the blogs later tonight.

Oh Traci, I sorry to hear about your FIL. I can't imagine what you must all be going thru dealing with this. Stay strong, you're in my thoughts.

While I'm thinking of it, for the blog hop, when you are giving me a timezone, can you also give me a city to reference. My mobile phone has a feature that tells me what the time is but I can only reference it by city name, not time zone. Thanks, that would be really helpful.

I hope someone else is in charge of organizing the blog hop...I think it will be fun and frankly a good distraction. I want to have blog candy also...but I know it's still a little bit away.

DH has been traveling all week and just got home tonight, we ordered pizza and are awaiting it's arrival. Extra black olives for me.

Theresa, thanks for your good thoughts, they are very much appreciated. And everyone's support, too!!

Diane: As for the bleaching out Stazon from tiles, I discovered that when I was trying anything to remove a stamping mistake on a tile. I don't have Stazon cleaner, maybe that would work, too.
This is all I could find that may be related to the Blogger "feed" issues: My Followers Report My Feed Hasn't Updated in Months, Even Though I've Been Updating Daily - Blogger Help

Theresa: Cottage Rose is an old two step set that I know of. Also Rose Rhapsody. Although having an archive of old catalogs is a fantastic idea, I don't believe Stampin' Up! would allow anyone to do that. St. Louis, Missouri and Chicago, Illinois are in the Central time zone if that helps any.

Traci: Sending well wishes for a quick return home for all of your family members. The Occasions mini catalog is released January 4th; Sale-a-bration January 25th. They are both fantastic !

Heather, thank you for your information. You're a wonderful wealth of knowledge. I'll go and check out the galleries of the stamp sets you mentioned and if I should ever happen to see the names in the buy/sell forum at least I'll know what it is now.

Thanks for the city references too!

I haven't ever taken the time to look at anyones gallery here on SCS, that is until tonight. After checking out the Cottage Rose (which I love) Heather pointed out to me, I of course stumbled upon some of her stuff there, which then naturally led me to her gallery.

WOW I'm amazed at all your beautiful work Heather. I couldn't possibly comment on all the lovely projects I saw there. I tell you, next time I go to the tip and I see that neglected old wooden chair (there was some there the last time I went) I'm going to buy it, bring it home with me and turn it into something beautiful. Just like Heather does!!

It could take me a couple of months (I got that patchwork project to get done first) but I'll get it done. ;)

Morning glitzy girlfriends! I'm getting ready to head off to a morning of crafting fun with friends, so I'll be brief here. Will make rounds to everyone's blogs this afternoon when I come home. We're making a little mini album I designed with w Valentine theme so we can post a tutorial at the first of the year. Trying to get ahead of the Christmas rush when crafting has to take a back seat.

Theresa...I have the new mini in my hands and the Sale-a-bration one too! VERY good!!! I wonder when I'll stop saying, "Oh, they've outdone themselves and I have to have it all!"?...Very pretty things. I'll do a little digging to see if I can come up with a list of roses...and if I have any old sets you might want to have. I have a TON of stamps that I never dig out. Also, CST will be oriented to Kansas City...the heart of America!

Donna...
peeked in at your blog and three others early this morning. You are getting quite prolific on your Christmas designs, and they are all beautiful. Know life can get busy, so don't feel pressured about keeping up here. Hope your busy week goes well, and be sure and let us hear how it goes.

Traci...my heart goes out to you and your family, especially your FIL. I just can't imagine the pain and anguish he is experiencing. What a trial to endure. And so hard for the rest of the family to feel his pain so deeply. Please know you are in my prayers. Know your plate is so full right now, but you are a blessing to our group, because you stay so strong and positive. I know your anchor holds too!!!

Yes, I'll be organizing the blog hop for our group and will post directions/guidelines very soon. Just wanted everyone to know about the projects early enough that it would not be a stress in getting them done. I can't wait for it. What a fun thing for us to do as a group.

Heather
...thanks for all your tips...you ARE a wealth of information. I love those crafting disasters that turn into serendipitous discoveries. So I'm glad you discovered the bleach trick. I don't know about Staz-On...it might work too. I have it, I'll have to give that a try. I've been seeing more tile stamping again lately. I'd really like to do something for gifts this year for our church staff...that might be just the inspiration I've been looking for. Sorry, I couldn't be more help on your blogging update problem. I've had a really hard time ever finding solutions to problems through blogger itself. Where are the people behind blogger??? I get more help here on SCS there anywhere else.

I'll have to visit everyone's galleries here too...what a great idea Theresa!

Hope everyone has a fun day...I'll report in after my crafty morning...then check out the rest of the blogs this afternoon. Only made three this morning....

Hugs to everyone!
