Made little goodie bags for a Moms4Moms group at our church this afternoon. I have never made those cello bag toppers before. But I was asked to be a "Mentor Mom" for a table of ladies at our support group for mother's of preschoolers. So I kept wondering what I could give them as a little treat that would make them think of me as a support to call and I thought of m&m's candies (mentor mom= m&m). So I went with the idea...and they look kind of like goodie bags to a little kids' party with the bright colors. They didn't have any pink/white m&m's so they were the bright primary colors. Anyway, they're kinda cute, and most women like a little chocolate. So will take them with me next week when we have our next meeting.

Theresa, what is a "tipper's license?" That sounds interesting...glad you have some variety in your job but that does sound intense!!

And no I didn't grow up in the fifties, about 10 years after that, but I do remember American Bandstand with Dick Clark and Art Linkletter and some others.

Diane, those pictures are great, they do look really happy together...and glad you found dresses and jewelry for you and your mom, that's wonderful!!
If you get the images close together leaving no space for text, you CAN go to the HTML tab (normally you have the "compose" tab open), and insert spaces between the HTML codes for each picture, but that's a little tricky to see where one code ends and another begins. Through trial and most error, I finally figured out the whole HTML page view.

They ARE so happy, I mean...extremely so. Both are older and have waiting a long time for the right person. They know God brought them together and they are powerfully paired. They will do great things for their Lord and Savior together.

I chuckled too, Theresa at the "tipper's" phrase! It just sounds Aussie! You are so fun!!!

Okay ladies you'll need to give me your version of "tipper" - I'm almost afraid to find out now, LOL.

"Tipper" - Tip truck or dump truck. For carting and unloading sand, gravel, etc.

I found a picture on this blog to show what I'm talking about

Despite my initial dread at hearing about working on the highway it has turned out to be a good week at work. Unfortunately, the work gang was told by the big boss that they were to do their own traffic control from now on, so we won't be there next week. A bit disappointing all round, since we were doing an excellent job which left the workers to get on with the road works. Just have to roll with that, and hope something good comes along next week!

I've got a two hour rest before the next job tonight at the hotel. Rest means, doing my laundry, ironing, showering, etc, LOL. You all know how that goes! So far all is looking good for a day of rest (card making, blogging, housework, shopping, etc) tomorrow.

My dad's doctor called yesterday afternoon with the results of the biopsy. He has primary liver cancer and the prognosis is not favorable. He said he probably has less than a year to live (on this side of heaven that is), but he is convening a team of specialist who will become his cancer "treatment" team. At this point we are more likely looking at comfort care than real treatment, but we are going to explore all options and do whatever my dad wants.

I was the one who had to tell them...that was about the hardest thing I ever had to do. Then they asked me to tell my brother and sister. That was heavy. Then we had to tell Jeff and Jori...one week before their wedding. My mother wanted to wait, but I've always believed in putting everything on the table. It's part of life, and sadness often mingles with great joy. We are a strong family of faith, and truth is our foundation. I was so proud of my boys last night. What strong men of God they are.

So a storm lies ahead but God is in the thunder and lightening, and as my dad said last night, "My Anchor holds!" Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. It is amazing to know that people all over the globe are praying and caring what happens to my daddy!

I'll be paring down my business, but I'll be keeping my blogging going. I just don't want business deadlines, and classes to prepare for, etc. I'll have to clear my plate as I'll be the primary care overseer over the time we have. By being less busy with business, I might even have more time for actually making (AND SENDING) those cards!!!

Made the rounds early yesterday and will again soon. Love seeing what you are designing. It's so fun to be connected.

Kristie...I'm sure the LAST thing you'll look at today is this...but wanted you to know prayers are going up for a beautiful day for you. We can't wait to hear all the details.

Theresa...I LOVE all your chats here! You just keep chatting away! We all will as we have the opportunity. Remember, Donna, no stress. This is all about the fun of it.

Blessings on your day, girlfriends!

Diane, sorry to hear about this news. I like the way you're handling this though. I've worked with, and around, dying elderly people, and as an observer I always was fascinated with the way families pulled together or fell apart during these times of stress. I would imagine as a pastors wife you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

I lost my father just over a year ago. For three years he was a ticking timebomb, and everytime I saw him, I knew it may very well have been my last. I was very fortunate to have dropped in to visit him one particular day. It turned out to be the last ten minutes I got to spend with him, just before an ambulance came. Considering I live over an hour away, everything was perfect timing, down to minutes.

Look after yourself.

Yesterday I was laid low with a migraine, so that interupted any creative pursuits I may have envisioned myself having. I did have to go to town, so I dragged myself down there, as my boyfriend had organised a lawnmower for me to buy, and it had to be bought that day. **Grrrr**. So now I'm an owner of a brand new lawn mower, and I'll finally be able to get the lawns looking tidy.

This morning I went to pick up my DD16 from the train station. She'll be staying with me for some of her school holidays. It's always good to have her home. She let out a sigh of relief when I turned on my TV and a picture emerged. LOL. I've gone nearly ten months without one until recently.

I've also squeezed in a couple of cards sessions as well today, so I'll have something up on my blog this week.

Yes It's me again LOL. When you live on the other side of the world as I do, you find that everyone else is napping while your sun is shining.

Anyways, I'm working on a project that requires me to make about 15 cards. For now I can't tell you what it is, but it's something I want to share with this group. So stay tuned! I've got three cards done already and hope to have another couple done before I turn in for the night. When all fifteen are done, then I'll be ready to do the big reveal.

Hi!!!!!!

The wedding was absolutely amazing. The day was everything we hoped and dreamed of. The weather was perfect, everyone behaved, and we all had a great time.

I can't figure out how to attach a picture to here lol. It's very late so I'll try again tomorrow! I have a bunch on facebook already that I got from my sister & parents, you can find me on there as Kristie Meeker Wilson. Or you can try this album link and see if it works!

I must get to bed since I need to up for work in 6.5 hours!

Kristie, I'm so happy for you that all went so well for your wedding day. Your photos are lovely and you can tell it was a gorgeous day. The setting was so pretty. I thought of you several times during the day and I'm just so glad that you could enjoy it all.

Yes, Jeff and Jori are taping their wedding and they plan to take it to my dad and show it to him while they visit him.

Thanks for all your sweet words and thoughts of us at this time. I so appreciate it.

I'm just getting ready to turn in for the night, it's getting very late here. I've had a lovely evening here with my daughter (16) making paper 'Tattered Flowers' for her cork board. She liked mine so much that she had to have some for herself.

My daughter doesn't live with me, she goes to school in the city and lives with her father there. It feels really good to have her sleeping in the room next to me. *sigh*. While she's here for the school holidays we'll be doing a bit of planning and shopping for an upcoming camping trip. She's so excited! Our last camping trip a couple of months ago was such a fun and memorable experience.

Good Afternoon all!

First off Diane, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. My mom had cancer and died last year. I will for sure hold your dad up in prayer. You are so right that God mixes joy and sorrow. Joy to your family in the celebrating the wedding this weekend! It will be my 17th wedding anniversary on that day as well! Its a good day to get married! :0)

Kristie congrats on your wedding! Your pictures look fab! I'm glad everyone behaved!

Traci-m&m's great idea mentor mom!

Thanks to everyone who is leaving me comments. Makes you feel loved!

My life is not exciting as everyone is posting........just working my day job and working my SU! business. My SU! business is helping with repairs on our house. We bought a beautiful money pit in March and it just keeps going on..........not complaining because I know its where God wanted us but I have little patience. Although my hubby did hang our new chandiler this weekend, but alas that is all its doing , no electric to it yet! I've been holding my classes in the room and its super dim, so hoping I can have that burning brightly by this Friday!

Its hard to believe fall is here. My DD is wanting to decorate for Halloween but I told her NOT until October 1!!! You are rushing it kiddo!

Well, I hope you all have a fabulous week!!

Default Question?

OK, here I am back again with another question.....for the blogging iliterate! :0)
I noticed when I'm leaving comments alot of you have a little sentence about the comment box. For example "Thanks for leaving a comment, you've made my day" or something like that. How do I do that?

I want people to know that I do appreciate the effort.... and boy it is for some blogs, I feel like I have to jump through hoops to leave a comment!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi girls!
Robyn, I will let someone else explain that, I had a friend over and helped me and now I don't recall how we added the sentence...I'd like to change mine. And yes, I don't like the comment word verification on, it makes it so much more difficult to leave a comment. You can change it to moderate, so you can delete it if you need to.

Diane, I read your news about your Dad and send you and your family my prayers. A lot of us have gone through losing a loved one to cancer, so you are not alone. But knowing his faith will help to make it more sweet than bitter. I imagine you are going crazy busy with the wedding too...what a happy time that will be!!

Speaking of, congratulations on your wedding, Kristie! So glad it was all you dreamed it would be! That doesn't happen very often, so that's a big blessing. Are you planning on a honeymoon?

Theresa, I have two daughters, the youngest moved out two years ago and I am still adjusting. We see each other often...so I know how comforting it is to have them closeby. Do you do much crafting together? Mine will "shop" in my card store, but she so far hasn't cared too much to try it, she is busy with college and works a lot also...and of course, social life!!

Hi Jessica, and Donna, and the rest of you ladies!

My daughter doesn't craft much, despite having access to a variety of materials and products. She is welcome to use whatever she likes. I don't hold anything back from my children to use. I do however show them how to use tools and products properly.

Occassionally she'll do someting which totally surprizes me. Like the time she said she wanted to make a present for 'someone'. She knew what she wanted to make it, and verbally 'shopped' from my stash. She asked, I retrieved. Some of what she was after even I had to go look for, LOL. She was after felt, sewing supplies, and 'rhinestones'.

So while I stamped she got busy with her project. For someone who doesn't normally craft she was amazing. She designed and drafted her pattern, sewed it all together and sewed on the bling. The whole while I only stepped in when she asked. I believe letting her do her own creative thing, she'll know when to ask for assistance.

When it was all done, I stopped what I was doing for the final show and tell. Then she told me it was for me!! She noticed on an earlier shopping trip that I was admiring a beautiful hand made felt bird ornament for Christmas tree, and she wanted me to have one. No way could she afford it, so she took it upon herself to make one! And right beside me too, the cheeky girl. It was a precious moment, I was crying and hugging her so tight, LOL.

The store bought one was about $12, my one is priceless!

Hi, Girlfriends! Just checking in here to say hi and see how everyone is doing. It was fun to catch up reading all the posts. I'm back home from a few days with parents and needed to do laundry. Imagine that! Doctor's visits tomorrow and Friday, then maybe we'll know how long we have with Dad and how soon we can go on hospice care. I've been spending some really precious time with him....laughing, crying, holding. Wouldn't trade these moments for the world.

Robyn....to answer your question about writing a little something above your blog comment window...
1. Go to your blog dashboard and click on SETTINGS.
2. Click on the COMMENT tab.
3. Scroll down on that page to where it says "Comment Form Message". There's a box to write your little message thanking guests for leaving comments. SAVE.

There you go, easy as one-two-three! Hope that helps!

EVERYONE...I noticed the discussion about WORD VERIFICATION. That's where you have to add the code word that's usually so distorted you can't read it. It really does discourage your guests from leaving comments. For people who are not technical and are barely maneuvering from blog to blog, they will flee the scene if they have to go through those "hoops" as Robyn stated. Managing your comments by requiring owner approval is the best security from getting spam comments anyway.

To manage comments:
1. Go to your blog dashboard. Click on SETTINGS.
2. Go to the COMMENTS TAB.
3. Scroll down to Comment Moderation (right below the box describe in my instructions to Robyn previously. Click on ALWAYS. Now when someone leaves a comment it will say something like "Your comment will appear after owner approval." Comments will not immediately appear. When you click on this the only way to activate the comments is to go to your blog dashboard. There you will see a link for comments needing approval. Click on that link, and your comments will appear. You have to click on each one, and say reject or publish. It's really very easy, and better the work for getting comments to be on your shoulders than on your guests shoulder.

Now one more step...On this same Comments page where you've been working, just scroll down a bit more to SHOW WORD VERIFICATION FOR COMMENTS? and click on NO. That will forever remove that testy hoop your guest have to jump through just to leave a comment. Don't forget to SAVE your changes to this page.

Follow these procedures and you will increase your comments.

Hope THAT helps! I'll be tardy getting around to all the blogs. With doctor appts and wedding, just can't do it all. But I'll catch up and go back to any missed posts.

Have a wonderful weekend. I'll tell you about the special gift God gave to me in my next post...just two days before my sons wedding!

Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers. I am so blessed and encouraged by your compassion. I know I don't walk alone. So many friends are praying and God has shown His strong and mighty presence again and again. I'm on holy ground!

Can't thank you all enough!

Thanks Diane for that word verification lesson. Your blog is without doubt the easiest blog to leave a comment.

I'd like some feed back in how the commenting process works for Bloggers on my Wordpress blog. I know when I comment on a Wordpress blog it is a much quicker for me than Bloggers. Wondering if the reverse was true, ie; its simpler for Bloggers to comment on other Bloggers than Wordpress. Anyways, if there is something that you feel is annoying or frustrating with commenting on Wordpress then feel free to let me know.

Yippee!! I am so glad, that means no comment moderation!!

Diane, you are such a big help on here, I appreciate it! I am planning on driving to my folk's (over the mountains, about 300 miles) to visit this week and help out. So I will be with you on the laundry soon. My mom has advanced MS, so it is a lot of caretaking...but I enjoy it and her!

I hope to visit blogs and catch up a little over the weekend also!

Theresa, I had no problem at all leaving you a comment...and I was able to view all three cards clearly...when I clicked on them I was able to view them larger, which really helps!

Everyone should be able to leave comments on my blog without any problems. I have never had word verification turned on.

We've been having spring showers here these past few weeks. It's so lovely. A lot of Australia has been in drought for many years, and some places have very severe water restictions. The creek through our main valley has not had water in it for several years, but this year it is running again! Stores are now starting to stock sprinklers and garden hoses again. I may go and buy myself a hose and sprinkler for the summer, just so I can marvel at it!

It will take years for the ground supply to replentish. I heard one young farmer (early 20's) say to another farmer (mid 40's), that he's not seen rains like this. The older farmer told him that once, it always rained like that, thirty years ago! Oh my, the different generational experiences.

That's a little bit of life in Australia. Hope you don't mind me sharing.
