We've been having spring showers here these past few weeks. It's so lovely. A lot of Australia has been in drought for many years, and some places have very severe water restictions. The creek through our main valley has not had water in it for several years, but this year it is running again! Stores are now starting to stock sprinklers and garden hoses again. I may go and buy myself a hose and sprinkler for the summer, just so I can marvel at it!
It will take years for the ground supply to replentish. I heard one young farmer (early 20's) say to another farmer (mid 40's), that he's not seen rains like this. The older farmer told him that once, it always rained like that, thirty years ago! Oh my, the different generational experiences.
That's a little bit of life in Australia. Hope you don't mind me sharing.
Oh Theresa! I love that you share! Its such a different world, than here in Wisconsin (or other parts of the USA for that matter!) You are going into spring, we are going into fall.
Today is really showing it. Its overcast, really really windy, leaves are starting to change color and about 60 degrees out. And the rain has been steady for the last couple weeks on and off.
But its Friday and that means freedom for 2 whole days! No having to go to work!!
I work in a garbage and recycle company, that I have to deal with truckers and overseas recycling all day long and the garbage drivers can be so exasperating to work with. I really have to call on God to give me patience!
Hey, I have to work with truckies (thats what we call them here) too, LOL. I get both site truckies and general traffic truckies. As a rule we don't like to stop the truckies. Best to just let the big ones go past. ;)
I just bought my home in July, and I spent the first couple of months just hanging out here. There's a lot of stuff I'd like to do, but I thought it best just to live in the place before I started on it. Well, this had been the week to get a start on things. First place the garden.
I've got my new lawn mower and I've been mowing everyday. I've also been working at trimming up some trees. I have about 20 to do and I've already got three huge pile of prunings. Today I cut down a tree that I felt was obsuring the view for motorists. Two neigbours have already commented that they are pleased to see it gone!
Then it rained. It poured. I had water gushing out of the wrong side of my tanks causing minor flooding next to the house!! Eek! So, in the pouring rain, I'm up ladders, unblocking screens and pipes and gutters. I didn't have a rain hat so I used my work hard hat, LOL I must have looked a sight! My gutters are on the 'to do' list, but it looks like I'll have to attend to them sooner than later.
I'm all cleaned up now and ready to settle in the for evening. I'm so tired from all the work I did today. I'll sleep well tonight. It's been a very good day!
Happy Monday! I just came from visiting everyone's blogs. Great cards ladies! I'm finally caught up on my card orders so I can finish my Halloween cards and then pull out my Christmas stamps.
Hello ! I've a lot of catching up to do........!
Crafting frenzy finished a week ago with the booth at the festival followed by trying to catch up the past week with neglected housework, errands, appointments, all while preparing to leave town.
I haven't been able to look at your blogs, much less post to my own for several days. I've been receiving error messages such as "service unavailable"; has anyone else with blogger been having problems ? Also, when I tried to upload a photo last week, then again today, I notice it was a different screen and it just would not cooperate with my internet connection. Most times the uploader screen won't open, and then when it does the photos don't upload - "server error".
I hope everyone is well !
Heather I have been experiencing problems lately with Blogger. It took me a few times to leave a comment as I was getting the same error. I also noticed the screen was different when I did an upload.
I'm back from our mini vacation from Vegas...well actually Monday, but things are hectic even when you leave for just a few days! I'll be checking in at everyones blog sometime today

Just saw the photos. You look very lovely. And you've got a great smile. I'm glad your day went well. Congratulations.
You know I was looking for your place cards ;)
Thank you! And LOL, I don't remember if there were any pictures of them in what I uploaded from my stepdad.
My scrappy friends did an amazing job of taking detailed pictures of things they knew I'd want to scrap plus they took pictures during the part of the reception while we were doing formal pics.
[QUOTE=luv2stamp50;17333726]Kristie, I'm so happy for you that all went so well for your wedding day. Your photos are lovely and you can tell it was a gorgeous day. The setting was so pretty. I thought of you several times during the day and I'm just so glad that you could enjoy it all.

Thank you Diane!!
I'm catching up...I hope your son's wedding went well. I'll keep reading to see if there are any details!

I hope Vegas was fun!! We are hoping to go there next year for our honeymoon. I went 6 years ago and Mike's never been before. We love to visit touristy spots and I think we will have lots of fun there
Thank you ladies so much for all the congrats and checking out my pictures! I've been busy changing my name everywhere and getting joint accounts set up - lots of work!
Last weekend I participated in a 2 mile walk for Compassionate Friends, it's a non-profit organization that helps parents (and their families) when a child has passed. I have 2 friends that have lost children in the past few years and both are being helped by this organization. Then Mike & I went to The Big E, a huge fair in the next state over. We had a great time.
This weekend is shaping up to be a fun one. No plans on Saturday so I plan to spend most of it in my scraproom celebrating World Card Making Day and then on Sunday, Mike & I will go for a hike at Kent Falls, one of the many state parks here. It's one of our favorite places to be together
I've managed to finally visit all of your blogs today, yay! Hopefully I can keep up more now!

Woohoo!! I'm going to have to recommend the Club De Soleil! It didn't have a casino but there was one 5 minutes down the street. I love vegas. We live 2 1/2 hours away so we go often.

I just wanted to let the group know I will be having a little give away tomorrow (10/1) and have teamed up with Karen Valentine who will be offering a free "grab" button either Friday night or Saturday morning.
How fun is that!! How do you go about being on a design team?
I visit The Daily Dare almost daily to see what challenges are posted that day and try to participate in the ones I like, that helps when applying to various Design Teams. A lot of challenge blogs post their calls on Scrapbook Calls with their required info. It keeps me busy and out of trouble (mostly LOL)

Hope you will stop by and visit us! Thanks.
Oh how fun! I'll try to remember and stop by tomorrow! I'm hoping to have a blog candy for my blogoversary in the beginning of November.
Good evening everyone...just wanted to peek in and see how everyone is doing. My son's wedding was perfect and they are off on their honeymoon. It was such a blessing, but joy was mingled with sadness since Dad was not there. He's declining so fast...oncologist confirmed today there is nothing that can be done, that hospice will do all that can be done. I'm grieving, but not as one without hope. I've been there constantly since the wedding, but home now and through the weekend during evenings. It's good to be home with my husband and to get added rest. We'll need it. This is going to go relatively fast we think, but the really hard part lies ahead.
I'll try to get to everyone's blogs tomorrow between laundry. I'll have a ton to catch up on with some of you. I really should spend some therapy time in my craft room some evening. Should just do it, even if at first I just feel too motivated. Have to update my blog, so I need something new!!!

Hi ladies!! Just checking in here to say hello. I have enjoyed reading up on your news here, and will hopefully keep track of everyone soon!
Today I drove an hour and a half to meet up with my oldest daughter who just recently graduated and moved to Denver. We had made an appointment to get our hair done using a special deal for color, cut and a paraffin wax treatment. Three hours later we are both traumatized, her because she had to have her long hair cut shorter than shoulder to prevent further damage, and me because the man left my color on too long and it turned my brown hair very reddish brown! So I told her that it was good to be together and make a memory, even if it was a traumatic one...LOL!! Anyway, I will get it "fixed" soon and not too worried, it's not that strange, just when you're not used to something it looks worse.
Diane, I am so glad to hear the wedding went well, and the Lord was honored in the ceremony! Please do not worry about blog visiting when you are trying to stay with your family and all the extra activity...but hope you get some time to stamp/craft for yourself!

LOL! Thanks for the info!!! It sounds like a blast!

Hi ladies, I've been busy in my garden this week. It's spring time here so you know what that means - spring cleaning! I've made a couple of cards, but I'm lacking time to blog about anything this week.
Focussing all my energies on my spring clean has been quite invigorating, mentally and physically. I also learnt how to use a chainsaw as I had some trees that needed some cutting back. It really wasn't that scary afterall! I had to borrow it but I think I'll go and buy my own for next time. I don't like to borrow things. Having said that, I did have to borrow my boyfriends ute, but he did borrow my cordless drill so thats a fair exchange. ;) And besides I don't think I've got a budget for an extra vehicle, LOL.
This week I just want to take it easy and make a couple of cards, and do some blogging.
Next weekend is my monthly card makers club day. Following weekend (16th) has been put aside for a camping trip, weather permitting, down by the Brisbane River on a private farm. 23rd, a craft show is on in Brisbane, and it's been a long time since I've been to one, so I'd like to go. 29th is one of Australia's biggest rodeos, and I've been wanting to go for nearly two years. I hope to make it this year.
I had my DD come and stay with me for most of her school holidays. She went back to her place yesterday. She'll be fitted with dental braces this week, something none of us are looking forward to.

.
I never did any spring cleaning so it's turning into fall cleaning. This weekend coming up is a 3 day weekend so I hope to spend some time doing much needed cleaning around the house, plus have a little time to get crafty.
Good luck to your DD with the braces. I had them as an adult - I had them on from ages 24-29. It took forever for my teeth to move to the right places!

Oh no on the hair!! I need to cut mine soon, I've been very neglectful of it. I'm glad you enjoyed your time with your DD regardless of the hair situations!
How is the rest of our little group doing? I haven't seen any posts from some of you in awhile. I hope everyone is doing okay!
Looks like just you and me, eh? Looks like it has been a busy week for a lot of people. I took a week off to do some much needed yard work. I think some of my trees have never seen a pruning saw in their life. It'll do them good though.
You had your braces on for a long time. DD only has to have them on for twenty months, but six months before they come off she has to have surgery to realign her jaw. Because of the surgery, she has to be fitted with the all steel ones and not the clear ones like she wanted. She's already had her wisdom teeth removed in prep for the surgery. I think I'm going to cry when I see her with them on.

Morning girls! I'm here, too!!
Last night I dyed my hair over my red, and now it is pretty dark, but it'll fade. At least it didn't mean a trip and money out the window for another "fix."
Both our daughters had braces, Theresa, and for one it was pretty traumatic. But she is also the one that was traumatized this weekend because her long hair was cut short due to damage of her hair. It will take some getting used to. I had braces and so did most of my friends, so it didn't matter because we were all in it together. They've improved a bit since then, though.
I am impressed that you learned how to use a chainsaw...sounds like your place is a new adventure for you, and it will be a challenge, but it seems you are up to it! I bet it will be so very rewarding when you see the fruits of your labor, too.
Well, I have my moms4moms meeting and am running late, so wishing you all a great day!
Our first house we built ourselves, and I spent a lot of time and energy estabishing a garden on the half acre block. So big gardening tasks don't daunt me. Back then I had a partner to do the chainsawing, now I'm on my own I need to do it myself, LOL. I'm not up to lopping the twenty meter gum trees like he did though. I'll keep both my feet planted firmly on the ground.
Good morning, everyone! I caught up on most of the blogs over the last day or two and may make the rounds again this morning if I can. I was here last night ( I LOVE MY BED), but will be staying the next two days/nights at my dad's bedside. My brother and sister are now taking shifts, so I will get to come back home a little more often for rest. I don't think it will be long now. I hope I get to be there when he passes from life to life, but that's so unpredictable it may not happen. His time and my time with him are in God's hands, so I will just rest in His trustworthy hands.
Way behind on blogging, so I'm going to try to get something new up this morning before I leave again. I've been having problems uploading pictures in blogger. Anyone else experiencing this? That's happened several times to me and it's getting very frustrating. I think this is the 4th or 5th time I had to wait a long time for it to be fixed. Would be interested if anyone else has had the problem.
Just wanted to pop in and say hi....missing you terribly and hope to personally connect to some who haven't visited here for awhile.
Catching up via the forum, Blogger issues again.
Diane - yes, lots of problems for me recently so the one day I was able to ge it to work, I uploaded several photos then went back in and made posts to last the week. Yesterday was the last post in that batch and I am back to having problems, trying to use the library internet but it won't allow Blogger sites. HUGS to you and your family and know that you are in my thoughts.
Donna- Gorgeous creations; the inside of your cards are always as pretty as the out.
Cassandra- Looking forward to see your work with PSE ! I've been trying to learn how to use it for photo editing.
Paige - What a cute milk can image, great card
Lori - Extremely fun card
Theresa- Love the non traditional colored holiday card, beautiful
Jessica, Gloria, Traci - anxious to see new creations =)
Kristie- get well soon
Robyn - I miss apple picking ... my kids are too big for it now.
Take care everyone !!

Keeping you, your dad and family in my thoughts and prayers, Diane.
I've not had any of the trouble that others are experiencing with blogger. Maybe it's the browser not getting along with Blogger? I use Firefox when I post but Google Chrome for viewing because I had issues with moving the pictures around when I blogged with Chrome. There is also Windows Live Writer that you can download to blog with, it's desktop based and will auto post to blogger. I used that for awhile, the only thing that won't work with it is the inlinkz codes which I use for my challenge blog.
Anyone doing the challenges for Hope You Can Cling To?
I have not participated in those challenges, while it is a worthy cause I don't want to have to remember to mail the cards somewhere and I also read how they want cards packaged and I don't have the clear supplies to do so.
