To hold the paper you are stamping on in place so if you need to reink the stamp and restamp an image, the paper will not have moved. Worked great when I was stamping a more solid image.
I got one!!! Left-handed. I wasn't going to order this at all, but after a couple of weeks trying to make last-minute cards with stamped sentiments that didn't look as good as I wanted them, I decided I needed this tool. I have a cataract developing in one eye, so that may be a factor (as well as my arthritic hands) in the crooked stamping. Getting old is not for sissies, ladies!
I'll let you know how it works for me.
On her Facebook page a few days ago, Illiana said she had found a manufacturer to make the MISTI. She was waiting for a sample and their price point so maybe there will be more MISTIs available soon. She is very particular so the manufactured MISTI has to be well made and good quality.
I have used mine and am very happy with it. Just to re-stamp an image in the exact same spot is fantastic. No more wasted materials - never had good luck using the unmounted SU stamps. They would stick to my acrylic block to ink then fall off when I turned the block over to stamp on my card stock.
How much did these cost originally? Is the price going to stay the same?
Karen
Iliana had the Misti on sale @39.95, the non sale price is currently $49.95. I believe the Misti is a steal considering the time & supplies Misti as saved me, I'd have paid more. Read the reviews and comments on her FB and blog, her Misti is well loved!
Question : Does your MISTI squeak when you open and close it? If so, has it gone away once you start using it? Thanks
Aliana said it's not unusual for the Misti to squeak, but this does go away. In no way does the squeak cause a problem with use. The squeak is due to the tightness of the hinges, and will go away with use. Mine squeaked slightly when I first received it and no longer squeaks.

Thanks.. Its pretty squeaky now but knew it was cause its new.. just glad to know it will go away
I feel pretty lucky to have gotten one, too! Mine doesn't squeak. I haven't used it much yet but it made lining up my long stripe stamp so much easier and being able to stamp twice, perfectly, was so nice. I really like this thing!
This is an incredible tool. I just received mine yesterday, and I've played with it already. It is so simple, but so nice. I really like it. It's great for acrylic stamps, and cling mount stamps. I have quite a few wood stamps and I'm thinking about un-mounting those so the storage is better plus I could use all my stamps with the MISTI!
FINALLY!!!! Saw a notice last night that she would be posting some at 12 CST today. That's 7 AM my time. Kids had to get to school just a wee bit later 'cause Momma NEEDED to get that order in! lol Can't wait to see if I actually get around to using it. ;)

A tiny, tiny bit of double sided tape keeps the stamp on the block
hope this helps!

Joan, I mean the grid on the bottom of the stamper. Warped paper for me...not bad but warped. Not sure it matters for what I use the Misti for but a concern?
The SU stamps have tried have stayed Have stayed put - Yay!

I have a few loose pieces of graph paper that came with the MISTI. The bottom graph paper is enclosed behind plexiglass. Sorry you are having problem with your bottom graph.
This is an awesome tool. Very well made with quality materials. Since she is the only one making them, they are up to her standards. She is going to the manufacturer in early Oct to see their sample. Hopefully, more will be available for everyone whose has been trying to get their hands one one.
Ok, I improved the MISTI for me, and thought I'd post here to see if it helps any of you. It's a simple fix, but helps tremendously. I cut the clear portion off of a presentation folder, and cut it to the size of the misti. I hinged it on the opposite side of the hinge that's built in, just with tape. It stays there permanently. This acts as a stamp a ma jig, without all of the fussing around with the clear graph thing she recommended and has available to download. Just put your red rubber stamp about where you want it, fold in the clear acetate part, stamp, put your card underneath it, skewing it if necessary, then use magnet to hold, then stamp. It works perfectly.
I also did some playing around with background stamps yesterday - did an hombre effect and used markers to color parts of the stamp, one color at a time. Both, again, worked perfectly. I also took a large image of a tree landscape, and colored the tops of the trees using different colored markers, trunks a different color, etc. It's great. I was going to just use my lifestyle craft thing, which works all right, but the hinges aren't secure allowing it to move a little bit, and of course, no magnets. I'm glad I bought it, and now with my transparency add-on hinge, it's just fantastic. The transparency is a must-do in my opinion.

You can also kind of see the images that I made to which I was referring. I didn't use the acetate for those, though. The acetate is for cling or red rubber stamps that might sit askew. I hope this makes sense.

Do you stamp on the clear folder jig, then flip it out of the way after moving your cardstock around to the right spot? If so, have you found the jig easy to clean?

Yes, stamp on clear folder, adjust your card or diecut underneath for exact placement, throw on a magnet, lift up the clear folder, and stamp as usual. The acetate is easy to clean, but cheap to replace if there's ever a need. Try it, I'm telling you!

Tonight I was using a stamp with a large solid area that I needed multiples images of. Had to re-ink and re-stamp 3-4-5 times to get a good solid image. Because I used my MISTI, I had no problem stamping in the same place.
