Awww ... thanks Conni!!
I've been SO busy this week. I'm just so glad to be home today.
My dad is still not doing well, so I'm trying to help my mom with that. They are trying to get him home hospice care at the moment. We'll see what happens with that.
So glad to see info on the versatility of different cartridges. I *just* got my Cricut and since I made dear hubby cough up the $$ for the machine I want to limit my cartridge purchases to only the most versatile couple for a bit. Sooo..... what's everyone's vote for the top 2 "must have"s? And, any tips for getting the most out of those? One last thing -- Can you get any lowercase letters out of George? I just love this forum! Thanks ladies!
Zooballoo is #1!!!!!!
I'm not sure what my 2nd must have is. I love Walk In My Garden, Doodlecharms (great because it has all 4 seasons and lots of holidays), and New Arrival. Of course, I love the rest that I have, too ...... so many choices!!
Well, a few people on this thread will tell you that Zooballoo is the first cart you should get. It is a very versatile cart as it has the alphabet (upper & lower case), animal shapes and also cuts cards. It's hard to go wrong with any of the carts. Most of the carts offer over 5000 options.
Are you mostly a scrapper or card maker or both? Do you create with kids in mind, or mostly adults? Do you prefer alphabets or shapes? We can probably give you better recommendations if you can answer these questions. Of course, by the time we are done, you will want them all. George only does upper case letters.

What do you like best about New Arrival?
I haven't even used my WIMG yet. I need to do that soon.:( & use my ZOO more also.

Funny, I still don't have the need for Zoo, I think I am doing well with what I have right now! I think I might need to buy my own Celebrations, so I can give Cindy Haffner her's back:oops:

Too bad I didn't know you wanted Celebrations earlier I could have my mom pick it up at Roberts for 25$ a few weeks ago. I'll keep it in mind if it goes on sale again . I like my celebrations, but i really like Doodlecharms. ZOO is really growing on me. Its just I keep looking at the book instead of cutting out same thing I did with walk in my garden today. This week end I am cutting though. I think I have an idea for a wheel barrow brewing. I also want to use the card feature for the inch worm.

That would be great if you don't mind keeping an eye out for it! I am trying to find a layout to use the border function! Have you ever made a border with any of the carts??

Yep the sheep on Animal Kingdom, my friend has a sheep farm. I didn't do it big though, just small for a card. Robyn made apost about doing a border with Zoo for waves across a whole page and I believe she said if you cut at 5 1/2 is spread the whole almost 12" and then they cut something to cover the last 1/2". Maybe she'll see this and respond again. I think it was posted in the first thread.
I'm not sure we ever asked Provocraft about the markers for the Cricut so, I did and here is their reply:
Thank you for contacting us. Cricut Color markers will be released later this summer at one of the tradeshows and will become available in your local stores shortly after. At this time the price for the Markers is not available. The colors shown on QVC over the weekend are only available to QVC. The markers can be used in the Cricut and Cricut Expression machines.

I love the duck and all of the little animals. You can use a lot of the words in different ways, too. I just really like that one .... I guess it's a style thing. KWIM?
Oooooh.... I love WIMG. It's great for flowers and bugs!!!!!

Sorry girls. I have been so preoccupied the past two weeks with stamping! I am back on track with the Cricut again. My mom and sis get here in 2 weeks and we are going to scrap all week long. I just want to get caught up before they get here. I'm only 4 months behind. Not too bad!
Hope you all have a great day. My Bosche just arrived so I am making fresh baked bread from wheat that I ground myself in my grinder. This is going to be the freshest bread ever!!

FYI: remember when I was looking for a graduation cap on the carts about 2 weeks ago? Well, the Teardrop cart has "Congrats" with an attached cap. I think you could probably easily separate the cap from the script if you wanted to. Here's a card I made with it. Grad card Just thought I would share my find.

Yes that me with my dd's. The only thing is that the picture is a little dark, but I finally was able to fix it, TOO LATE I had already done my stamps. Glad you liked the card.

That is so funny Lori because I even have that cart and I didnt even notice it had the grad cap when I went looking....To funny thanks for sharing!:o
Well it isn't posted yet and it isnt anything fabulous but I did play(if you can call it that) with my cricut all after noon. I cut out almost 400 3 1/2" circle and 16 41/2" rounded squares for a project I am working on for a girls camp I am involved in this summer. I am covering some coasters and Composition books. I have 16 girls, that I am doing these for. the composition books I picke dup at the local $ store 3 for 1$. The comp books are going to be for camp journals and the rouns coasters are for a kind of autograph book to write a special thought in at the end of camp. I have put off cutting the pages for these for about 6 weeks. Its something I wanted to get done before the kids were all home from school and time got away from me. I did have to fool my cricut in order to get 6 3-1/2 " circles cut from 1 * 1/2 x 11 sheet of Copy paper so I posted in my blog how I did it and a picture of what I did if you want to check it out. I'll be posting it soon.
Okay help me. I've been browsing cqrtridges today and I realy want to buy both the carts that come with the expression. I just dont want to buy an expression and I dont want to by it on ebay for a fortune or I might as well by the expression. I just like the font options with the plantin school, and the scalloped border and rickrack, then the accent one. I mean I could use that a lot for stampin cards, just with all the different borders for the squares and circles. Say good buy to punches if you get that one. I voted a few weeks ago when Myrna said they were voting on weather to offer it to the public, but I want both. I just really dont need the expressions 12x12 cut.
I guess I could use it to make a large base image for a layout, if I had it, but I just bought my other one less than a year ago. I think PC doing this to a consumer is unfair, we should get a trade in option for purchase:rolleyes: ...

I'm laughing with you. When I looked initially, I didn't see it either. I needed to make another grad card, and thought "OK, I'll just do a congrats card". I checked the cheat sheet, and it was listed as Congrats w/cap. Man, I love those cheat sheets! I also love the little Amuse dot oval - worked great with the mega oval circle punch.

Kathy, I can't believe how many circles you cut. Your little chirper deserves a new cart after all that hard work. These sound like a great idea. I bet the kids will love them.

Just venting....
I hear ya! I really don't like the "exclusive" stuff they do. From a business standpoint, I understand it. From the consumer side - it stinks! You could always buy the Expression, keep the carts and resell just the machine. I think Kim is selling these for around $350. If you figure you would pay $60 for each cart, you would only need to get $230 for the machine. Just thinking out loud here. I'm still on the fence about the new machine. While I would love to have bigger cuts, I love how compact the current machine is. I also would like to see some user reviews before committing. Sorry I wasn't more help.

Kathy,
Don't even get me started on this!! My dh and I have a bet going on at this time. He's betting that I get that new expression, and I'm contra betting him. Let's see how far I go. I don't think we will be able to buy those carts just yet, but I hope and I'm crossing my fingers that we will sooner or later. However, I was brainstorming last night, and I'm thinking that I might (might) give in next year and buy that expression. The fact that it cuts chipboard is exactly what I'm looking for!! That way I could get rid of my big shot, and the regular cricut. I'd have more space. If I don't get that bigger version, I might just sell my big shot and get me that Cuttlebug instead. That big shot is huge and it's taking up too much room. Besides those die cuts are HUGE!! CB dies are so dainty and small. However, I do want those same carts that you are craving. What do we do???? Who can we rob!!???!?!?! ;)

I don't because they just make me wish I had purchased the Wishblade or some other plotter cutter, I could design cuts on my computer with. If I am just going to have to buy a new machine every year. It would be worth it to pay the extra up front for the more expensive machine. I think it would make more sense to keep all your customers happy.
They could for instance offer the items for sale to registered owners of the machine. Then they could make it an exclusive offer, and not for general public, then the price would always be what they dictate, but if your paying 180$ for both carts. Then why not buy the new machine, but why buy two machines. To me it sounds like they didnt research it enough in the first place.

Sounds like Lori's Idea of buying the Expression and then selling with out the carts might work for you if you are willing to part with the portability of the old machine.
Problem for me is there is no way I would part with either if I bought it.
I could come up with some fun stuff to use them both for.
For instance cutting all those circles yeasterday would of been even easier on an expression. half as many loads of paper and I could cut the whole sheet of either 8.5 x 11 or 12 x 12 with out having to cut strips.
I just had to take a whole week to talk my self into buying the first one. Feeling guilty and all spending that much on myself. KWIM, kids need shoes and college and stuff. How can I do it all over again and in less than a Year It Stinks:p
Kathy,
I've heard that the new machine is really not that bigger. I think I read somewhere that it's like 7 inches longer? They also said that it too is portable. I'm mad as h3ll just like the rest of us here, don't get me wrong. I think it's a crappy situation to upgrade machines in this manner. A friend of mine got that craft robo, and she will be able to cut anything she wants, but she needs to use her printer to print out the design and then cut it with her robo, that's too much work for me. She also has to be buying software and such. You see so the cricut is pretty good. I might just stay with my regular, and just buy that cuttlebug. I dunno yet!!!
Kathy,
I've heard that the new machine is really not that bigger. I think I read somewhere that it's like 7 inches longer? They also said that it too is portable......!!!
It is only 6 " longer but I believe it doesnt have the handle and it is heavier.
Plus the mats are bigger etc... I think it stinks.
Love the Cricut, but it stinks and I have email Provo Craft Support to let them know.
I think they need to realize what they are doing.
I mean they all ready tork us with buying carts like mad, isnt that enough!
I am not angry if thats how it comes accross, I am justFRUSTRATED.
I have a limited crafting budget, and I feel like the companies out there don't realize that, they all want my money.... But they seem to ignore how they treat me and that is morally wrong. It lacks integrity it's a take the money and run attitude!:(
Kathy,
I'm frustrated as much as you are! Remember I was the one that wanted to wait for that new one, but I couldn't wait any longer. Now I'm just super mad!! Oh well, I guess that's life. I just have to ask myself this, Is my regular cricut enough for myrna's cutting needs? It all boils down to YES that's more than enough. I don't see myself getting that new one until mine is at least one year old.
I just recently learned that one must turn off their cricut everytime you change carts, did you all know this? I'm glad I learned before I really messed up the poor bugger.

Kathy and Myrna, I hear ya! loud and clear!!! That is not fair what they do, but it is how the company's make their money, and you have to know there are people out there, that have the means to have both and any other machine their little heart desires. Do you think though if you bought the machine for the carts, you would really sell it?? and also do you think there would be a want for the little cricut if you decided to sell it?
Hope this all makes sence and it's not just rambling?
