HI all! We're all waiting on Dorian but it looks like it won't be so bad - outer bands and lots of rain! Just in case, we are stocked up and Alice has all her diapers, wipes and milkies!
Thanks, Maggie! I wish they had been wins - lol. They were scores - as in low prices but I still had to pay I know what you mean though!
Barb, enjoy those hostess freebies!
Hi Jeanette!
I sure hope that is not what it looks like with Dorian coming by your place. It does remind me of Harvey two years ago. Good to be stocked up with necessities.

I had a busy morning. I colored my hair. I used to do it all the time, but then started using my hairdresser. I found Madison Reed on FB and decided to try it. I liked the color and now that I've done it, I LOVE the color. It's a little darker than what I've been getting and actually have been telling my lady that I wanted it a little darker. She cut it really short when I was in a week ago, so it's really easy to take care of.
Now off to get the laundry done and get some fun time in my craft room.

We have had several days of fine (even if not particularly sunny) weather and I have finished pruning the roses! Whoppeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So tomorrow I may even get into the studio.
Waving from an increasingly warm and less rainy Down Under :-)
Hello friends - just dashing in between the raindrops to say thank you for the well wishes - we need them. This storm has me all upside down! Almost a year ago, we evacuated and the hurricane followed us and hit Orlando ON my son's birthday ........... now Dorian.
My husband is at work, frantically trying to place all 1,000+ patients into hurricane safe buildings and shelters and safety zones. I'm not even sure when he will be home and we have to get the hurricane shutters put on. My mom is blowing up my phone to be picked up and doesn't understand the hurricane wont be in the next hour!
The stores are stripped bare, there is no water, there is no gas for the cars and generators. The lines are INSANE and blocking/clogging all other major roadways because they are lined up waiting for gas stations to be refilled. Remember the gas shortage of the 70's!?? Same scene. It's an uneasy feeling - maybe it's Alice. We're veterans at this stuff but I'm all kinds of wonky. AND THEY DIDN'T CANCEL SCHOOL!!! To miss a day of high school, because it's A day or B day, it's like missing 3.
Keep your fingers crossed and think good thoughts
I won't be back online until after Dorian - so. much. to. do.
Kelly, oh my... seems like an insane scene that those of us here in the midwest can only see on the news (or is it horror movies?). Please take all precautions and be safe! Sending hugs, prayers, and more prayers!

I remember so well Rita and Harvey. Rita was absolute chaos with people all over trying to leave town and then it didn't even come here. We learned, but then there was Harvey. Crazy that was too with so much flooding in places it never flooded before. Praying for all of you to be safe there in Florida.

Hi friends - sneaking on to catch up and let you all know that we're ready to go. Not much we can do and we certainly can't control the weather or predict God's plans!
I am HEARTBROKEN watching the devastation in the Bahamas.
Still hoping that Dorian moves like they said it would be it's slowing down Yes they keep saying it will turn - it's just turning slower and heading more off course. And it's the same track that Andrew took that blew my parents house off the map in 1992 and postponed our wedding because our church was destroyed. It was just an awful time - 2.5 months without electricity and running water. We've learned a lot since then and Andrew taught everyone what NOT to do!
By tomorrow, we may send the kids with Alice to a shelter, if need be. Our home - or any home - isn't Cat 5 friendly. I'm officially worried.

Kelly- and all those in Florida or on the East coast in the way of this huge storm- Prayers!!!
We have a few good friends that live in Florida and some cousins as well. Prayers for that storm to veer out towards the East or that it looses steam!!!
Good Morning--Happy Labor Day! Rebecca is leaving tomorrow morning for a camping trip to the UP of Michigan with a friend from Iowa. They are both taking kayaks and camping for three nights on an island. Then, they are driving a couple of hours to Pictured Rock National Park on Lake Superior for two nights and some northern Wisconsin friends are joining them. They will be back next Sunday!
I too am praying for those in the south. We rented a house for the month of February on Tybee Island and it has been on the news this morning as it is in the mandatory evacuation area--praying for the owner of the house!
Good Morning--it is Back to School day for most schools in Wisconsin! There are a couple of bus pickups at the end of our driveway and the kiddos were waiting! Rebecca is off already to the UP. Kathy arrived from Iowa last night and they are now on the road. It is to rain all day for them so they said they might get a hotel tonight instead of setting up their tents in bad weather. I have a couple of errands this morning and then I will spend time in the stamp room. I hope you have a Fantastic Tuesday!
My insurance broker is coming by today to try to get my insurance straightened out. Medicare Service denied my new coverage because it wasn't in the enrollment period. I was supposed to have Special Exception since I was "laid off" from my job, so we need to get that fixed so I can get started on my new insurance.
Had lunch with a GF yesterday and then I went with her to the new Goodwill place. It was a madhouse. Unlike other outlets that have things organized, here it is all just placed in big bins and you have to look through them to find anything that you might want. I knew I wasn't going to find anything, but she likes rummage sales. She didn't find anything either. They charge by the pound.

Hi all - we're back to the grind here (Starbucks pun!) and back to as normal as Miami ever is! School is back open and the traffic - yikes!
Maggie - wish I'd been thrifting with you! That's one of my (hidden) hobbies. No one I know likes to go and I don't get up to go to yard sales around here but I do love strolling through flea markets, thrift stores, old book stores and Goodwill and Faith Farms. I'm a self proclaimed bargain hunter and really dislike paying full price! But I do. A lot. LOL
Looks like the sun is shining (according to Barb) and I'm not sure what's on the ground but Kelly has wonked it good in her eagerness for this week to be over. ;)
Good Morning Everyone! I am trying to add a graphic of the Packers and Bears and it is not working................ But--Yes, I am a Packer fan and tonight is the first game of the season--at Chicago with 'da Bears! I will be in front of the TV tonight for sure! I am also having a "stamp class" this afternoon as my friend Jill-Jasper's mom-and her mom are coming over to make some cards. Jill's mom used to stamp years ago and Jill wanted to join her in having some fun getting inky today! I made up 4 card kits of 8 cards and they can chose various sentiments. It should be a fun afternoon!
Good morning! Barb, have fun with your stamp class. Hope the Packers win for you.
I have been working on organizing my dies. I have a binder where I keep a copy so that means I have to run each one through my Vagabond and then glue it on a piece of heavy cardstock and put in a page protector. I am trying to keep them organized by theme both in the binder and in the storage for the dies. I hope to be done with this project by the end of the week. I have lunch plans today with a girl that used to be at our office. Her boss leased space on our floor. He is good friends with my former boss. The new firm did not want him to continue to use that office so his lease was terminated. His secretary reached out to me on FB and we made plans to meet for lunch today. I'm going to pick her up and then after lunch when I drop her off, I'll go in and see their new office space.

Good luck in your organizing Maggie-and enjoy your lunch!
I had a nice lunch. It was so funny because just as we were finishing up, I saw a girl that is at the old firm come in with a gf of hers and they sat at a table next to us and she never saw us until we went to say hi to her before we left. Then we went my my GF's new office. She has a big roomy office and a beautiful view of the city. We decided to make it a monthly thing.

Sounds like Florida was spared for the most part! Thankfully. Prayers for the folks in the Bahamas!
Kelly- I love those bargains as well, but I hate digging through bins.... I did recently score a House Mouse stamp for $2.00 that is on e-bay in the $30.00 range! Yeah for bargains : )
Maggie- nice that you stay connected with prior workers from the office- rented space or other...… That could be awkward, but sounds like it went fine! Yeah for Organizing!
Barb- how fun to make up those kits- did you snag her into starting to make cards? Ugg, the Bears and Packers game was pretty boring! Congrats to your team!
We had a pretty fun weekend- took the dog to the Dog beach Saturday, I got to stop at the bird sanctuary at Montrose when we visited the dog beach (in Chicago). Then went out to a burger place- delish and no cooking : )
Sunday, Church then went for an all afternoon bike ride and bird looking - and we just scrounged up leftovers, so no cooking again : )
Monday, I worked sorting in craft room- taking a lot of time and making cards as I go along...LOL It is so hard to sort Stamps- The Japanese Organizer lady says hold an item and if it does not bring you joy, discard it....well, no feelings of 'No Joy' happening....hehehe I am finding plenty to discard though.
We sat out and visited with the neighbors for a while in the evening, which was very nice. However, I look like I have a contagious disease on my ankles and lower legs- zillions of bug bites- looks terrible!
Wednesday, my Aunt and my 2 sisters came for visiting and dinner, we were able to Skype my other Aunt and Uncle, and had a great 'catch-up' visit. I made a Mediterranean Cod and rice and roasted veg's.
Today, I took hubby for an upper endoscopy- he has some swallowing issues on and off. (Although he still eats an enormous amount of food and never gains weight)….. He had a stricture that needed to be dilated. Yeah for solutions to problems! He slept very poorly worrying about what they would find.
Katie is here tonight- she is heading to North Carolina for a Bachelorette party planned since Feb! At first, all of the flights were cancelled, but they are back on. They also have a boat ride scheduled. Sounds a bit crazy to me, but I'm sure if it's not safe they won't go out.
We have the dog for the weekend : )
Congrats on the win, Shelly! And WOW! What a lot of things going on in your life. Enjoy!
Maxine, UGH! It stinks that you're having the issues logging in. I hope it's all better now!
Maggie, how nice that you and your friend enjoyed your time and want to do it regularly. And YAY on the organizing!
Barb, I hope you enjoyed your game and time stamping yesterday!
Kelly, how are things going? Thinking of you!
Well, I was to go to an out-of-town meeting today/tomorrow but it looks like it's being canceled. What to do? What to do? (hmmmm... laundry perhaps. ;))
I had a wonderful time with Jill and her mom making cards yesterday. They had so much fun and were so appreciative--that makes me feel good too! I did watch most of the Packer game last night, and went to bed and tried to listen to the rest of the game on the radio................. It was a win, but quite a boring game. I have Take Three-hostess club today and get to pick up all of the items from last month when I was the hostess! I am then meeting some friends for a fish fry tonight. Have a great start to your weekend!
Shelly, you sure have been one busy lady lately. I can't keep up with all that you do. Congrats on the win. I was one of the Top 3 also this past week on Brown Sugar.
Busy day yesterday with errands in the morning. I finished up sorting all my dies yesterday. Now that I know what I have, I need to start using them more on my cards.
Next thing I want to do is run off a sample of all my embossing folders and put them in a binder too so I can readily see what I have. I really seem to neglect my folders when I'm card making. After folders are done, I'll work on my ribbon and culling out ones that I'll never use.
Kelly, so glad that Florida was spared any damage from Dorian. I have a lot of family and friends over there.
Barb, fun stamping times for you.
Maxine, I hope that SCS is playing nice with you again.
Jeanette, with all the things that you could pick to fill your time, you chose laundry?????????

Maggie- Congrats on your Top 3 at Brown Sugar- very nice!!! Your organization sounds great. I did run all of my embossing folders through on the same colored card, and put them on a keyring or three...…. That way, I can see what it looks like on both sides...and I always grab for the same few anyway! I have to decide which to save and which to discard.....
Maxine- as you get warmer, we get cooler. I love when you share pictures of your beautiful roses!!!
Barb, I so love where Rebecca is off to- Pictured Rocks is such a wonderful area- lots of hiking and beautiful scenery! Hope their weather improves! Hope you gets lots of stamping done!
Jeanette- sounds like your weekend was full of hiking- up Mt Laundry!
Kelly is off partying for her baby- not a little one anymore- a young man! Did you say new pup???
We had Katies dog here all weekend- she came out Thursday night, I drove her to the airport 6AM on Friday..... I could not get back to sleep, so went and sorted in the craft room. I am stamping with some of the sets to decide keep or pitch..... Keeping a few, pitching a few. I joined in with a group of 4 other ladies having a sale the weekend of the 21st. One woman used to co-own a store, so hoping it is successful, and stamps I take out are NOT going back in my stash! Oh boy..... I have not quit shopping and buying though! I am NOT going to Hobby Lobby....where I hear the Copics are $1.99.
Yesterday, after a crazy day, we went to 5PM mass, then dinner with friends. While we were out. the dog ate a piece or two of bread he had to get up on his back legs and was able to get off the counter, and 1/2 cup butter......gross!!! He was OK today, but was having pretty bad gas today..... Katie got in at 1PM ish. (She went to Charlotte NC for a bachelorette party). She did not head out until 8:30PM ish though- she worked on her school plans and handouts here. It is pretty funny, her dog LOVES Ray!!! He follows him everywhere, and even if I am in the room, if Ray leaves, he whines..... He also has a dog friend that lives next door- he loves Abbi- they play nicely together and get work out!
I have been enjoying watching the lady hummingbirds still. I know their time is limited...... The males have already started their migration. We have 2 girls fighting over the feeder! LOL
