No, this one wants to go into some type of phsycology. I can't even imagine.

The theater one graduated also from college and is working in theater. She's currently in a show and has another one coming up. Her goal is to end up in New York.

Barb- sounds like a great weekend planned!

Maxine- Oh that baby is precious! What a fun and beautiful picture!!! So sorry about the margins for your lesion- and I will pray that the 2nd surgery goes smoothly! Big Hugs!

Maggie- Oh, how terrible to do all of that work and poof! What a blessing you could retrieve all of the bottom and resources! We really have no Milkweed for the butterflies to land on yet. I have some small ones that I started from seed- and mine usually come up later. Maybe I will go to the nursery tomorrow.

Kelly, I did finally see the cemetery pictures for Memorial Day- it is so wonderful that flags are put on the graves and that people reflect on the meaning of the day. (except the speaker of the house in Ill- called the Ill house to work on Memorial Day weekend to vote on an abortion bill- very very terrible- all the way to birth and no limitations..... a very sad day).

Jeanette- have a great and hopefully very dry weekend!

Shelly
I see butterflies flying around the house, but not so many caterpillars right now. I pick off just a few. I see wasps too and I think they are getting to them before I do. I have a wasp trap set up in the milkweed garden hoping to attract them to that instead of the milkweed.

Have a fun and safe trip Jeanette. Enjoy time with your sweet DD>

Good Morning Friends. Happy Monday! This is the first time I am online since Thursday. We had a nice time in northern Wisconsin. We visited some college friends Thursday-Friday--great weather as it was in the 80's! We went kayaking Friday morning and then headed to a rental cabin that afternoon with Rebecca's family to celebrate a nephew's 50th birthday weekend. Not quite as warm, but fun with 10 family and friends. We played games, sang as Rebecca and another guy had their guitars along and had a great time. We left early yesterday morning for the retirement party. It was a wonderful event for a great guy and I saw many former staff members that I have not seen for years. One of teachers made a great video of highlights of Keith's career. Keith's daughter got a video clip by former Packer Brett Favre to wish him a Happy Retirement--highlight of the evening! Today is catch up around the house and in the gardens. We have some friends coming to stay Wednesday and Thursday night--the same ones we stayed with up north. They are coming to the area to pick up electric bikes they ordered and we are going to a Brewer game Wednesday night with 18 others. Have a great day!

Maggie, LOL! Wow - Pyschology? I'm guessing that's not the avenue you thought?

YAY for your DGD that's in theater!

And I'm with you on the house is my house - what are they thinking! It doesn't even imply the house is on the market - guess that shows the interest!

No, I never did think that DGD would pursue Psychology since music was always her thing, but it was not the best choice for her. She has some personal issues that lean more toward Psychology, so I guess I'm not surprised she turned to that. Just a whole lot of work.

The area where I live is growing. You would not believe how many houses get torn down and then bigger ones built on the lots. So far though out deed restrictions don't allow a 2-story house to be built on our lots. I got another postcard in the mail today looking to buy my house. Sometimes I think I'll ask for some outlandish price and tell them I'll sell for $500,000 and see what they say to that.

HI Maggie! We should share a night cap since we're up at the same time, LOL!

I'm listening to the cat HOWL and HOWL! Oh my! We had her spayed last year and she is just going on like she's in heat .... I think she still desperately wants to be an outside kitty (she does go out on her leash daily) Some experts say that makes it worse, stop taking her out, but it seems so cruel. She LOVES to be out with the dogs - in fact, she thinks she's one of them, LOL.

THanks for explaining - aw, your sweet DGD! It's funny how life calls you into a certain path, even the ones we don't expect. But how lucky they are to have a gramma like you to be an awesome support system!

Sounds like you are going to have to hang on to your home, Maggie! Crazy times in the market!

Just finished up two Discussion Posts for one class. Still have to reports to review for the other class, but I'll get to them tomorrow. I had a question about what we were supposed to be doing and left a message for the instructor. I hope she answers it before tomorrow.

Years ago I had a cat that I took out on a leash. She was a Siamese and did not like other people. The kids in the neighborhood always wanted to come pet her, but I would warn them away from getting injured by her.

My kitties stay inside because they are declawed. They like to look out the windows at the birds and squirrels and other cats, but I don't really think that they want to go out there. It's a big, crazy world. Better be safe in your nice home.

Default Hello

Dropping in to wave hello!

Only 9 more days until Colorado! The other Grandma is there now- oh the pictures are precious! I am stamping as much as I can to get cards ready for while I am gone, I am home 2 days at the end of June, then heading out to Ireland and the Netherlands. So, trying to be organized as much as I can.

I have never seen a cat on a leash- but certainly understand it. Keeping them inside any time the door opens has to be a challenge- especially with you Kelly- with all of the people coming and going! I know how the dogs act when the door opens!

I enjoyed some walking today outside- almost 13,000 steps today... doc told me to walk, walk, walk! Finally the rain has given us a nice break!

Waving hello to all! Heading to bed : )

Shelly

Default Hello

Good afternoon- slept half of the day away again! I have a list of things to get done, but enjoying reading email and sipping a big cup of tea!!!

Jeanette- so exciting to have your DD home for an entire month! Awesome!

My hubby found his Father's Day gift, so I did not have to wrap it...... He is very observant. He was shocked way back when he turned 40, I was able to pull off a big Surprise party for him as not much gets by him..... I still have to make him and Chris cards.

Off to get something accomplished!!!

Shelly

Hi Girls - I have read and caught up , and see you have all behaved yourself while I was gone.

Shelly sounds as though you are working hard to get your walking in as part if your recovery - 13,000 steps - that's impressive!!

Enjoy your time with your DD Jeanette

Barb you certainly are one busy lady - travelling, socialising, gardening and card making and swapping!!

Maggie I hope all your butterflies hatch and don't get the life sucked out of them by the wasps - there's a piece in our local paper about the increasing prevalence of wasps here in NZ :-(

Kelly although you are not doing the school runs the same, you certainly do still stay busy!! My cat is an outdoor boy - I can't imaging trying to keep one indoors!! He is coming in at night now it is colder! He also greeted me with loud purrs when I got home today!!

I had a fantastic break - waited on not quite hand and foot, but we did not do chores at all while we were there - not even take our dishes from the table to the kitchen. The only thing we did do, apart from rest, walk and a few crafts, was make our drinks at morning and afternoon tea time!! Bliss.

I did a couple of blog posts from my phone, but I had semi set them up before I left.

It's back to reality tomorrow as I will have my older DGD here at 8:30 in the morning, and will need to take her to her netball game at 11:30 - and the weather is forecast to be a maximum of 14 oC (57 oF) with a cold southerly blowing and showers!!

Hello Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Shelly, yes... I'm definitely enjoying having DD here. It had been a year since we'd seen her which is way too long!

Maxine, welcome home! We missed you! I'm glad you were able to relax and were well taken care of!

Waving to everyone else!

FYI - I/we are leaving early tomorrow morning to go to our national convention. We'll not get home the end of next week... so unless I pop in later today, you'll not see me again here on SCS until we get back.

Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning Inky Friends. I have not been here since Tuesday. Our house guests came a day early and we spent the morning chatting over coffee. We went to a Brewers game Wednesday night and yesterday, they picked up the e-bikes they ordered. We went for a ride when they got back--their bikes and us on the tandem! I have hostess club this afternoon! We have no plans for the weekend and the weather is going to be perfect to play in the gardens--by playing, I mean weeding!

Default Hello

Daytime drop in!

Good to hear from you Maxine- your get away sounds like it was very nice!

Barb- glad we have a nice weather weekend for you to get your weeding done! I want to help, but afraid it will put too much strain on the old back.... we have one bed where there are little maple trees coming up from the twirly birds from the neighbors tree..... It is the bed where my Milkweed plants are- and milkweed is very slow to come up this year. I started some inside, so have to get them out in the bed at some point.

I have quite a headache today from, I think, the cottonwood that is floating around outside. I get sinus congestion from it every year.

Tomorrow, heading to Lake Geneva, Wisc with friends to visit friends that moved up there. They invited us all overnight, I was all for it, but decided I am better to sleep in my own bed.

Waving hello to all!

Shelly

Sounds like you are recovering nicely from your surgery Shelly. I went to my orthopedist yesterday. He is sending me to I guess a pain management. He says it's my sacral joint on the right side so he's prescribing shots for it, but they don't do that at his office. I also mentioned my left hand that is still giving me problems after three years. We did not come to any conclusion about that, so I'll probably make another appointment with him to discuss that or I'll go to a hand doctor, but I really think it's still pinched nerve in my neck.

So good to hear from you Maxine. It sounds like you had a lovely time away. It's nice to be waited on and not to have to do chores.

I'm concerned about my butterflies. So many of them look like they are ready to hatch, but they are not coming out. I'm wondering if some of these are still from the batch that got put on the bad plants. I can't clean the hutch out because I don't know which are good and which aren't so I'm just going to have to wait until the season is over. I've only seen a few new babies lately. It was this way last year too. They sort of disappear when it gets really hot. I think they head more north where it's a little cooler. But they will be back on their return trip to Mexico. In the meantime, I keep checking for any little ones. I do see butterflies around so I'll keep checking.

It is HOT! HOT! AND MORE HOT! down here in H town. At least it's not as humid as it had been. Had a little rain the other night that swept that away.

Shelly
I've been having an issue with my right ear. Feels and sounds like it has fluid in it. I feel fine otherwise. I think I will call my ENT on Monday and see about getting an appointment.

Sorry about the headache. I hope it goes away so you can enjoy your visit to Lake Geneva.

It was another crazy, busy week with school work. Got my school work done for week 7 last night. Only 7 more weeks to go. I'm supposed to register for the fall on the 12th. Trying to decide between Genealogy as a Business or Intro to Excel along with my genealogy class.

Went out and got groceries this morning and got some laundry done. I've already dusted the house and just finished up the floors. The kids are coming over for dinner tomorrow night. It's SIL's birthday yesterday so we will celebrate that. I'm making spinach lasagna (vegan) salad, fruit, cake and ice cream. Need to get the cake done tonight.

I might even have some time to play in my craft room.

YAY for play rooms, Maggie! Me, too - after a nearly 3 weeks away (with a quick card here and there!)

I'm so far behind, I'm moving forward instead of stressing about backwards. It's going to be a lazy summer for me!

Maxine, I'm having trouble commenting on your blog :( The comments are bouncing back saying undeliverable - help! I'm not sure what it's doing or why? I keep trying!

My daughter wants to go kayaking today - but it's weather permitting!

Oh Kelly - that sounds frustrating, not being able to comment, and I wouldn't have a clue how to sort it. I have noticed a general drop in commenting, but thought it was because I have been quiet and the last two posts I have not linked to challenges. GRRR.

That is strange that Kelly's comment didn't go through. Maybe it was just a random glitch. I didn't have any issues this morning with it.

Default Hello

Happy Monday!!!

I had a dentist appt today, then my cousin stopped by with some paperwork regarding family genealogy I let him copy. I wanted to make sure I have it back by the time we head to meet family in Ireland. I have one set of family info on one family (they had 10 kids), but it is pages and pages long. LOL If I meet people, it will be hard to know which family they are from with all of these big families!
I am going to simplify our tree so I can hand it to people in Ireland to keep. I also showed my cousin how IF you choose to, you can download your Ancestry info to GEDmatch and it matches with kits from 23&me, Ancestry, etc.. but NOT Family Tree (where my Dad's is). It is awesome to see all of the matches there. My highest matches are all from my Dad's Irish Ryan family. That side is on the West side of Ireland- have to go there sometime!!!

The weekend was very fun, we drove up to Williams Bay, Wisconsin (next to Lake Geneva) Saturday and drove back that night. It was fun and we were active, but I was flat on my back all day Sunday. We made it to 6PM mass though, so that made me happy.

We are leaving Thursday AM for Colorado, getting quite excited!!!

Shelly

Happy Hump Day! It is raining here, so I get to spend time inside in the stamp room versus weeding.................. We are having a summer midweek evening church service tonight, first one ever and Rebecca is leading it. It will be followed by wine and cheese, for fellowship and we are hoping it can be outside. Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Good Morning SCS Friends. Our summer service went well last night and we enjoyed the fellowship after. I have a humane society event tonight--we invited some of of the major donors to thank them and will introduce the new ED to them. Jeff will start the end of August and Lisa's last day is September 9th.

Good morning. I was working on a report for one of my classes last night. It's a three-generation project and I am using my mother and her father. I was looking at sources and found the Find-A-Grave for each of my grandparents, but they had little information on them and they were not linked together. I submitted a request with their birth and death information and a request to link them together. This morning I got an email that those requests were approved so I went to the site and sure enough, they have their information listed and they are each listed as the other's spouse. Glad to do that little bit for the next generation that comes along.

Hello Fellow Stamp Addicts!

We're home again - had a good trip. Now we're rushing around to get things ready for DH and DD to leave on their trip - TOMORROW! (They'll be gone for two weeks). Maybe I can "ketchup" while they're gone because right now I feel like I'm far far behind. ;)

I read all the comments here in the thread and enjoyed seeing the chatter! You ladies make me smile!

Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

welcome home Jeanette. Glad you had a great time.

I had a nice time at book club last night. Didn't get home until 9:30. Then did some homework til midnight.

The young adults that live across the street started shooting off firecrackers, which is illegal in the city. I went to the front window and looked out at them. One of them must have noticed me watching them because I saw him say something to one of the others and then they quietly moved out of the street and I didn't hear any more firecrackers.

Good Afternoon. I had a haircut and pedicure early this morning and then a stop at Home Depot and the Post Office. We had an inch of rain Wednesday into Thursday, so I am headed out to pull some weeds as it is good pullin' as my mom would say! We are meeting some friends tonight at a brewery that has live music and that is about the only plans we have this weekend. Other than greeters, fellowship, reader and Mt. Meru coffee hosts at church Sunday morning----multi-tasking! Have a fantastic day and marvelous weekend!

Today was an okay day. Quiet at the office. My boss had a court appearance as an Ad Litem. He came back to the office for a short while and then left for the day about 1.

Our merger with the other firm is just about a done deal. It's been a little sad because there is an attorney who offices in our space who is not a part of our firm, but a very good friend of my boss. Because of this merger, their lease is being terminated and they will be moving out. It's just him and his secretary, but we are pretty good friend (her and me). Our bosses have very similar dispositions so we compare notes every so often.

I've got some homework to finish up tonight and then I'll have the weekend. I've got a hair appointment in the morning and then hope to get some stamping done and get caught up on my swaps. Dinner at DD's for Father's Day on Sunday.
