Good Morning SCS Friends! It has been a busy few days and the weather has been well, let's just say winter is lingering around much longer than I would like! Friday night we went out to dinner with our two good friends as we needed to "repay" our bet with the NCAA tournament as we all make brackets and the losing team buys dinner for the winners! Saturday night we had a Spring Fling dinner dance as a fund raiser for education in a orphanage in Cambodia that our church has supported for a few years as our organist adopted a young girl 15 years ago. And, yesterday we went to see The King and I--it was outstanding as a few of the voices were exceptional! Plus, tonight we are going to a Brewers game. WHEW! Add to that 5 inches of wet, heavy snow that we got yesterday! It is to be close to 50 today and 60 tomorrow, so it will be gone, but jeez--can spring just be here and stay!
Good morning. Woke up to another chilly day. 50 here after 45 yesterday. Yes, Barb, I'm so ready for Spring and warmer weather. We had a taste of it last week and then cold again. I got the flower beds weeded on Saturday. Took all day, but I dug out all the clover and also some edging plants that are the spreading kind. I don't like them because they encroach on the plants. I need to pick up some more that will just stay where I plant them. My yard man comes today to mow and will give me an estimate on planting which he will come back to do tomorrow. I wanted to run my sprinklers last night and I tried and tried and they would not come on??????? I sent an email to a sprinkler company to see when they could come check the system out and figure out why they are not working. I hope to hear from them today. If not, I'll call them. My caterpillars in the hutch are starting to form their chrysalises. I will have Alex plant some tomorrow and others will just wait to go in the hutch when needed.

Good Morning Inky Friends! Happy Thursday! It has been a few busy days here with meetings and errands. It has been a bit rainy and will be again today. I will spend some time today and tomorrow in the stamp room as next week will be very busy. We are interviewing 12 candidates for the top two positions at the humane society where I am on the board and personnel committee. We will start on Monday and will have 2 or 3 interviews a day for 4 days and the following Monday too. WHEW--I should put up a cot at the shelter..................

Maggie, I hope they figure out the sprinkler issues and it's an easy fix.
It was an easy fix. Water was turned off! :rolleyes: I guess my previous lawn guy turned it off when we were expecting a freeze during the winter and then never turned it back on again. I had the guys check it all out to make sure it was all working. It's all good.

Hi all and Happy Good Friday. I hope you all have been enjoying your day. It was so nice to have the day off. I've been getting some things done around the house. Took all my heavy winter sweaters out of my closet and either put them away or put aside for the cleaners. Got Spring/Summer things out of the trunk and washed some of them.
I had my new stove delivered this morning, but they were not able to install it. The old one was hard wired and they are not electricians so they couldn't do that. I called my electrical company and they were able to come this afternoon to do the install. It all went well, but I think they charged me way more than they should have. I'll break it in tomorrow. I have some meals to cook and cookies to make.
I've been working in my craft room getting things organized. I could not find my stash of old left over swaps. I always keep what I don't use and wanted to look through them to see if there was stuff I wanted to use for anything coming up.

Good Morning--I hope all of you had a Blessed Easter! We had an Easter brunch at church between services. We then went out for a great buffet with family at The Trout House--awesome seafood! Rebecca is on a two week electric car trip, final destination Denver, as one of her first retirement adventures. I decided to not participate in the interviews for the 2 humane society positions and the other 5 members of the personnel committee will do just fine. I will still be a part of the final interviews the middle of May. I started to move some of our seedlings from the basement to the greenhouse and will transplant more as needed in the coming weeks. The weather here has been great the past two days and another one is on tap today--temps to be close to 80!
Back from a week in Colorado- it was fun and fast moving!!! We cleaned, hemmed drapes adventured, wine tasted and planted plants. The baby shower was fun- the 2 Grandma's were the only two over 40 I think, but who cares : ) Fun was had by all.
Back Saturday (3AM), had a bridal shower and took a little nap, then Ray, Katie, Stephi and I went to Paint and wine- three of us had birthdays this month and it was a gift. Ray did not want to be left out, so he came and painted- really cute of him!
Today, got an allergy shot and went to Trader Joe's- needed groceries. I have to catch up on blog commenting next....
My computer is still hooked to the TV, I have to buy a new one! I dropped the computer and the screen is broken. Computers have come down in price a bit since my last purchase I think.
If any of you go to a local nursery and they sell Milkweed, I'm looking for some wherever I can find it. It is very scarce down here. One of my locals is not getting any for 3 weeks; another may get some tomorrow, but I don't know how big they are going to be. My other nursery is closed today, so I need to call them, but I heard that they only small ones - 4" pots. I'm looking for gallon pots. My niece went to Florida last week and found some there and actually brought 2 plants back with her. She put them in a box and checked them with her luggage.

Good Morning My Friends! I had a few errands to do yesterday and then some storms rolled through last night. Today, I will spend all day in the stamp room--yay for me! I will also cut the grass for the first time later this week--that means that spring is finally here for sure! I hope you too have a fun week!
My day is happy too - it's Anzac Day here - the equivalent of your Memorial Day - and it's SUNNY - Anzac day is notorious for being wet, cold and bleak!!
I have two loads of washing on the line, and three sympathy cards to make this afternoon, as well as a blog post to put up in a few minutes, which is over 12 hours late.... blame the migraine that assaulted me yesterday!!
I have been accepted for the 10 days R&R, to take place 27th May to 7th June.
Two of the sympathy cards are for my nephews - my SIL's funeral is tomorrow, and the third is for a cousin of DH , who's husband's spirit departed his earthly coil last week - his mind had departed quite some time ago!
So a busy few days ahead with services, and travelling as neither lived locally. Tomorrow I will be travelling with my brother, his wife and my son... daughter and family are going separately, and visiting her in-laws enroute and dropping the children there.
So if you don't see me for a day or so, you will know that fatigue has claimed me Waving to you from a spectacular and warm autumnal day Down Under
I'm leaving in less than an hour for our state's Annual Women's Meeting. Today is a work day - and then the meeting with 600 of my "friends" the next two days. I'll return home exhausted and enthused! Oh, and Hot Sauce and I will enjoy our 3 1/2 drive coming and going.

Good Morning Inky Friends! It has been a good couple of days here. I have been able to spend a good deal of time in the stamp room. I am making a set of a dozen cards for Sarah for a display in her booth at the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo next weekend in Milwaukee. I am using the Best Catch stamp and die set, so it has been fun to create a variety of masculine cards. I will also be helping her at the show as she is teaching a class both days. I was able to get the grass cut yesterday, which is good as the weather for the weekend includes a forecast of snow! I hope you too are having a good week and have a Terrific Thursday!

Back is acting up again.... I have a consult in a week with a Neurosurgeon (made the appt weeks ago). Not in my network, but best doc I know for backs.
I bought a new computer today finally, so now need to move everything over. Big laptop- I wanted a CD player, so 16.25" wide! I also bought a wireless scanner for the pictures I need to scan, should save a step or two (hopefully).
Tomorrow- ESL, prayer hour at church then Bunco! And, my daughter is dropping of crazy dog for weekend babysitting. She has an out of town wedding shower. Hubby told her OK...... I cannot help with him- 60 lbs and he pulls like crazy when we walk!
We saw our first hummingbirds here this week! So exciting- now waiting for the Orioles!!!
I am glad it is Friday, but I am not looking forward to tomorrow as they have changed our forecast to 5-8" of snow! Yuck................ But, it should be gone on Sunday, but I am sure it will be messy tomorrow night. I had a few errands to do tomorrow, but I have moved them to today or cancelled. I have a lobster dinner tonight with some friends--it is a fund raiser for a local high school special education department and they fly the lobsters in fresh today--Yum! The rest of the weekend, I am sure I will be staying in! I hope you have a good one!
Shelly--yes, I did join IG a few weeks ago. Still no Facebook for me and no plans to ever join. I lurk on Rebecca's page and that is enough for me. No hummingbirds yet, but I plan to put out the feeder next week.
Hello to all,
We have some very wet snow today, not too much- maybe 2-3 inches at best. Tomorrow, it will be 45- 50 degrees, and will all melt. Mother Nature has given us some really interesting weather this winter and Spring!
We have my daughters 60 # 1 year old 'pup' here this weekend. Hubby went out early to run an errand, and the dog....when he saw me this AM, cowered down onto the floor....Oh boy, he knew he was naughty! He pulled a Rubbermaid container off the counter and chewed it open, then ate a muffin that was inside. My husband said the muffins were horrible......my sister made them- gluten free, no eggs, no dairy..... The dog did not seem to mind : ) The Rubbermaid went into the garbage, and it was not worth fretting over.....
I worked more with him on getting him to drop- he would rather wrestle over the ball or toy, and I want him to drop it. He is really motivated by food, so I bought some bite sized treats. He will drop- IF I have a treat for him, otherwise, he will not, or if he does, he picks the ball right back up again.
I went to a choral concert tonight- the group is comprised of Music teachers and voice coaches- and my piano teachers eldest is in the choir. It is a very prestigious group- the concert was just beautiful!
Don't want to be a sad sack, but my town is reeling - there was a car accident yesterday, involving a local family of 8 - only one of the children has survived, a 9 yr old, and he is still in a very serious condition, but stable.
One of the children, the youngest who was 6, was a good mate of my most sensitive grandson, who is distraught.
Please pray for our town - there are three schools affected, and the family was well respected in the community...
The effect on our first responders, the majority of whom are volunteers, will also be profound, as it is only a matter of weeks since they had to attend another vehicular accident that took 5 members of a family from a small settlement near us....

I'm making my rounds this morning - with graphics and all. But Maxine has caught my heart here in the Stamp Addicts thread and it just doesn't feel right to post graphics and such. I know you all will understand.
Oh my. How very heartbreaking, Maxine! I am definitely praying for your community, the family who have lost so many of their loved ones in this tragedy, and those like your grandson who are suffering great loss of friends. So very sad!

Good Morning--Happy Monday. I had a nice weekend. The lobster dinner was good Friday night and Saturday morning I went back to Claudia's house to help load all of her old windows into a dumpster before the snow came. We had to smash some of the frames so they would not be sitting higher than the edge--took out some frustrations! The snow did come, but not as much as they thought as I think we only had 2-3 inches. Sunday morning it was sunny so everything was gone by mid-day. I have a scholarship meeting tomorrow morning and yesterday I went through the 67 applications--took more than 7 hours! It is raining today, so we are getting all sorts of weather in the past few days! I have stamp class this morning-so I get inky!
