I hope everyone is doing well! I saw your gorgeous crysallis' Maggie - you are such a good butterfly mama!
We have a ton of (overgrown) milkweed - courtesy of our backyard neighbor and it's never bothered us much - we can either trim or it learn to love it, lol, and the other day, sitting on the swing set with Alice, tons of butterflies kept flitting around. She was absolutely gob-smacked at what they were! I guess she's too little but it was such a joy!
BUSY weekend for us and I"m not liking it much - Alice goes to the inlaws Friday night-Sunday afternoon so they can see her (they don't during the week, and live 2 streets over!) so I treasure my weekends! But there is Scouts this and Scouts that and I'm driving, participating, schlepping ... every. single. weekend! I figure I can rest when I get to the retirement home, ROFL!!
FYI - I'm leaving early tomorrow morning to go out of town for a couple of days. I'm going to observe and learn from an ESL/Literacy/Tutoring site a few hours from home as I am coordinating that ministry for our state convention.
Ray had a pretty laid back week 1 in Istanbul, Turkey. They do not work after 6 pm or on weekends. So, he got to tour Saturday with the other engineers from France, Hungary & India. Very European feel to the area he is in. Anyway, yesterday he worked 12 hours, this is deadline week!!!
I am sorting & scanning pictures. I got pictures from 3 Aunts, so started with their pictures. It is bittersweet! But the definitely have pictures my dad did not have from his younger years!
I had a ‘trip’ , not a fun one... I did not fall but did drop my computer. Screen is toast!
Will need new computer! When Ray gets back... for now, I have a HDMI port hookup to TV screen . I cannot watch TV and work on computer at the same time! Plus, my back is acting up, so cannot sit & work on computer too long.
Anyone watching basketball??? Stephi went to Michigan State- we cheer more than she does! Lol
Waving hello to all!!!
Shelly
So sorry about the computer monitor Shelly, but glad to hear that Ray made it home okay. I do like basketball, but none of my teams made it to the Final Four. :(

OH Shelly - what bad news with the computer :-(. Glad to hear Ray is enjoying the time off.
Maggie I hope the new garden man works out this time - you have had a real run of 'fails'.
I had card class today and a new 'pupil' who enjoyed the group - I also challenged them with some precision stamping, it all worked out in the end and they were happy with the results, but the groans when I introduced it were hilarious :-).
It's back to sunshine again this week, and the gardens are getting a good final spurt on - I picked the first of my grapes, and pulled my first leek yesterday - what a contrast! One thing with a late crop of grapes is that they are very sweet....
Waving to you all from Down Under.
So far the yard guy is doing okay, not great, but I can communicate with him and he usually contacts me ahead of time to check on what he is supposed to do. Great to have someone new in your classes.
We were supposed to have severe thunderstorms this weekend, but did not get this way. We had a little thunder and some heavy rain but it wasn't too bad. We needed the rain.

I can't be a very good butterfly mama without Milkweed and there is a huge shortage here in Houston. I guess a lot of people are doing the same thing. I called the nursery on Thursday and went on Saturday and they were out. He said they sold out by Friday. I'll call them on Tuesday morning to see if they get any more in and maybe go on my lunch hour or right after work. Another nursery has some, but they are in quarantine until the 14th.
I know how you feel about Alice. I remember when my granddaughter Morgan was an infant and I would get her over to my house one weekend a month. For awhile they wanted to keep her home and I really missed her, but then they decided that it was a good idea because then they could have some time to themselves.

I finished up school yesterday. Did my last final exam for the semester. Now I have a two week break before next semester starts. Now I have time to play in my craft room.

Good Morning SCS Friends! It has been a couple of busy days--working in the gardens as the temps have been great-70's yesterday and then tomorrow we are to get snow! Just a dusting here but up to a foot of snow in northern Wisconsin! We also had a dinner party Sunday night for 5 guests and it was so fun. I had a critter card class yesterday and more time outside in the afternoon. I have a swap to organize and the cards to swap in the next few days, but I am sure I will be inside tomorrow and Thursday, so I will wait until then................ Have a Terrific Tuesday!
SHOCK! It's me. I know I haven't been over here and all that. I did finally remember my password to get back in though. I won't even go into everything that happened since last time I posted. My new address is Lynn Hayes, 4717 109th Place, Lubbock,Texas 79424.
Maxine just sent me a message through Instagram saying her account there got all messed up so she's opening another one. Her computer is history too and she's going to be renaming her blog if I understood right.

Glad to hear from you Lynn and it was great to see your latest blog post. I'd like to redo my background of my blog, but haven't the foggiest notion how to go about it.

Crazy to still be having snow this time of the year, but I remember going to Utah once many, many years ago and landing in a blizzard. It was the middle of April.

I went Milkweed shopping today. I've had over a dozen caterpillars, but the milkweed I tried to save over the winter didn't all make it. I had a really bad infestation of aphids and they killed most of it. The weed has been very scarce around town and the butterflies very prolific. People all over town are trying to find the milkweed for their caterpillars. I called my regular nursery and they had some small plants and I had him put them aside for me and I took an early lunch and went and got them. I also got some pollenating plants. While there I heard that the other nursery close by had some, but had a limit of 4, so I went and got my 4. A lady there told me that the Monarch caterpillars also fed on Hoya plants, so I bought the 4 of them that they had. I got back to work and was looking online for more places to buy it. Wow! One place had 2 1/2" pots (very small) on SALE for $7.19 each! Then I was looking more at places in Houston and noticed a place my niece went to on Saturday so I called them. They had just gotten a shipment in of 200, but they were going fast. I had the lady put aside 10 for me. That was the limit that you could buy. I told my boss that I had an errand to run and I'd be back, so I took off and went and got them. By highway, it was only about 16-20 minutes away, so took me about an hour all told. The lady there was very nice. Said they were getting more in a day or two and more native ones on Friday so I may go back. My plan is to plant the smaller ones in the ground and keep the larger ones to go in the hutch when I get it. Hopefully soon. The butterflies will lay their eggs on the small ones and I'll have the larger ones for hosts for the caterpillars.
My contractor brought the hutch over last evening, but he had only put a door on one end of the hutch and it needs to have a door on both ends because it's big - 3 1/2 feet high and long. I wouldn't be able to reach the far end from the one door, so he took it back and will redo that end to add the door. He said he didn't notice it had two doors on the picture that I sent him.

I'll be leaving town very early tomorrow morning to go to a dear friend's funeral, so I'll not be on SCS tomorrow. Unless I pop in here again later today, I'll see you on Friday.
Happy Wednesday! I found Smoochy this morning but it sure is windy and I think he might be heading south to get out of the icky weather heading our way! I organized all of the birthday swap card yesterday so today is swap day. It has three categories, so it takes a bit longer. I also would like to spend some time in the stamp room today, so we will see how the day goes. Have a good one!
Yay - I'm back - thanks to my very generous SIL - he said once he figured out what was happening it took about half an hour to fix.... whew!
Yes, Lynn had it right that I got 'hit' by someone who complained to F/B that my blog was firstly offensive, then abusive... go figure!! That was when I had to re-establish my f/b and IG accounts with a new name - now I need to wait for my DD to help me re-set my blog up under a different name and address.... all very frustrating. PM me if you want my new f/b and IG names.
Back to my Dr today, and the chest is still not 100%, and my throat was red, so he gave me a prescription for "back pocket" antibiotics, i.e., only fill the prescription if I get worse.
Better go now and get my WAW blog post done and up now I am back on the computer....
Waving from a damp Down Under where we have finally got some rain :-)
Thanks Barb... I needed to see Smoochy this morning, even if I am late due to my absence and it's now Friday!
Darling graphic, Kelly!
YAY! I'm glad you're back, Maxine... kudos to SIL for fixing the mess. Speaking of messes... YIKES! That's awful about the problems with FB and more. UGH!
Good Morning SCS Friends! Happy, Happy Friday! The sun is shining this morning and that is good! I have a couple of errands to do this morning and hopefully some inky time in the afternoon! I hope you have a Fantastic Friday and an Awesome start to a Wonderful Weekend!

Maxine, that person who complained is delusional. There is nothing offensive or abusive about your blog.
Sorry you are still under the weather. Hope it clears up soon.

Hi all! It's been a busy week and no school. I do have catterpillars though and have been running round trying to find milkweed to feed them. I got my new butterfly hutch. It's great. Bigger than the last one so plenty of space for them. I feel like the plants won't be all squished together like it used to be. right now I have milkweed in various stages of growth. My regular nursery says he won't get any for 2 weeks. Lucky I've found a couple other places that have had some.
I'm also doing some work in the back flower beds, digging up clover that is growing in there that the yard man was supposed to clean out 2 weeks ago. All they did was pull it up by hand and left the bulbs in the ground so it could grow back. Luckily the ground is pretty composted, so it's easy to dig up.
I also have started a new genealogy project that I hope to use either for school or for my certification. Certification requires a four-generation project. I'm doing this on my boss's family. He has no idea and I'm not telling him until I have to use it and then I'll have to ask his permission to use his family. I've been able to find out a lot just from a couple things that I know about the family. All the rest is available on Ancestry.
