Yes, time is sure flying by!!! I thought it was Friday today..... then, after I realized it was Thursday, I put Chicken in the crock pot for soup and Chicken taco's....someone put that idea in my head earlier this week.....
But instead, I made sloppy Joe's for dinner (Had buns that needed to be eaten). I will make the soup and taco's Saturday, because I cannot eat meat on Fridays during Lent. I will have to figure out a meal for dinner tomorrow- I have shrimp in the freezer..... last week, I made Shrimp with sauteed garlic, little tomatoes and spinach- couple of spices then layered it over noodles (think spaghetti). Oh, it was fabulous!
I was successful in the craft room today, got a DT card done, a Christmas kit, and a ATC finished. Especially good since I slept until noon. LOL Doc says it can take up to a month to get back to normal after this virus. Coughing a bit less today, yeah!
I cancelled ESL tomorrow, may try to Facetime her and do a lesson. I do have an hour of prayer time at church on Fridays in the afternoon, I may wear a mask and go anyway. There are usually others there but not too many.
Nothing planned for the weekend, except corned beef and cabbage on Sunday.
Please pray for New Zealand and especially the shooting (at mosques) and subsequent lock down that is still an ongoing situation in central Christchurch.
The toll at this point is 27 dead and many more injured - 4 are in custody, 3 men and woman, but it's all very tense and distressing..........
Update - last I heard there were 40 killed - 10 at one mosque and 30 at another, and more than 20 listed as "very serious"... there will be more injured that won't be as bad. So very sad :-(
The lock down has been lifted and people are being escorted away from the central city. I have family there - one was fine, but a nephew's wife and two children were caught up in the lock down for 3 hours.
Was it just me or were others having trouble getting into SCS this morning? I kept getting a database error message. I don't like database errors that keep me from my friends!
Maxine, I read the NZ news this morning and was devastated to hear it. Such a tragedy! Praying for those affected. (((HUGS)))
Shelly, oh WOW! Can we have a repeat of last Friday's dinner? It sounds delicious! I hope you are feeling better; it sounds like you are!
I forgot to mention this morning - I'll be gone most of the day tomorrow, so I won't be on SCS again until Monday. I'll see you then! Enjoy your weekend!
It's nearly half way through my weekend and it is going well - hot and sunny, and I have been out in the garden for part of the day.... now I need to knuckle down and start my sermon for next Sunday....
Hi ladies,
The weekend is here! I think I will finally venture out tomorrow, carefully! I need to go to the Post Office for sure.
Maxine- prayers for your country and for those affected by the mosque shootings! How awful! I have to admit, I have entertained the thought that if a gunman came into a church, there are so many people in that space-sitting ducks! I would gladly die for my religion though!
Jeanette- safe travels! Yes! I decided to repeat dinner from last week! It was delicious again- forgot to say I tossed in some Rose that is in the refridge into the mix, and I added a can of tomatoes. Not too much remaining.....
Thanks Barb- Happy weekend to you as well!
I made a DT card today, and had to look up the sentiment- I guess if you wear green, leprechauns cannot see you...if they see you they pinch you. Have you ever hear of that? LOL- I have not.....
Will be cooking corned beef and cabbage on Sunday- mine comes straight from the butcher and is usually to die for! Hubby wants to invite neighbors over, not sure I am up for that.....
Maxine- thought you were done with sermons! Do you celebrate Lent in your church? Do you use a lectionary for readings? Or, do you just focus on a book in the bible? I know about my religion, but not too much about any others.
Saw on FB Kelly's son made it into his Drama HS!!! Wahoo Kelly!
Shelly as a Baptist congregation, we don't formally acknowledge Lent, but we are aware of it.
As the pastor is a retiree, he only preaches 3 out of 4 Sundays, and it's my turn this week for the 4th Sunday - I was supposed to be speaking last month, but I 'crashed', and thankfully another person stood in for me at short notice.
We do not use a lectionary, and are allowed to speak as led. I have preached on The Life of Joseph, on the Sermon on the Mount, Agape Love and this time I am looking at what 'new life' means in the outworking of our faith. ... quite challenging and I do enjoy the study involved.
Sorry to hear you are still not well Shelly, but it sounds like you are not letting it get you down.
I've got the kids coming for dinner tomorrow night. I'm making a big pot of Black Bean soup. I bought a new recipe book that is all about cooking with a dutch oven.. I love it. Last week I made chicken thighs with fennel, leek, and orzo. I had never used fennel before, so that was an experience. It turned out really good. I used it for my lunches during the week.

>> I was busy the last couple of days so didn't try to get on yesterday, but I see they are still having issues this morning. When I quote something, the thing I'm quoting doesn't show up. It took me a couple of tries to get on this morning and at first my "Like" button wasn't working. Crazy after the Facebook blackout the other day.

It is a bit chilly here this morning. Was 45 when I got up at 7 and only supposed to be in the 50's as a high.
I fired my lawn guy on Thursday. I did hire another one through a company. My lawn looks terrible. The back yard is full of weeds and the last time the lawn guy came he put some weed and feed on it. Well, it seems to be feeding the weeds instead of the grass. I texted him on Monday to see when he was coming and asking about a couple things he was supposed to have done before. I didn't hear from him until after I hired the other company and then I texted him that I was firing him. THEN I heard from him. Gave me some story that he didn't get the message because something was wrong with his phone and he just restarted it the night before but it was after 8 pm so he didn't want to text me then, BUT he didn't text me the next day until after I texted him that he was fired. The new people are supposed to come on Monday and while they are here they will give me an estimate on some yard work that I want done.

I've only ever heard that you can get pinched if you don't wear green on St. Patrick's Day.
I hope to get in my craft room today. With the kids coming over, I need to get the house cleaned up. I did take some time this morning to put away all the stuff that I took out from underneath the bathroom cabinets so the plumber could look at the pipes under there to see why the water keeps cutting off. Since the pipes are pvc, the one guy said he thought it was the valves in the handles themselves that might be getting clogged. It was late that night and we didn't do anything about it. It's not that big of a deal for me so I'll just wait until it really bothers me and maybe have the faucets replaced.

I had a nice visit with the kids yesterday. I made Black Bean Soup. They loved it and DD wanted a copy of the recipe. I had tweaked it a little bit so passed those ideas on to her also with the copy.
Don't know if I mentioned that I have gotten over whatever was causing my issues with chocolate a few months ago. I've been able to eat it again. I really think that those antibiotics I was taking for my throat infection that I had to stop taking, worked on my intestinal issue (TMI) and cleared up whatever was the problem. So, I was going to make brownies or chocolate cake for dessert yesterday and got all the ingredients out and then realized that I had given away all my chocolate and didn't have any cocoa. Duh! I need to put that on my shopping list. We had ice cream sundaes in waffle bowls instead. They all enjoyed Ben & Jerry's.

I did register for Spring Semester so that is done. I have 4 weeks left in this semester, then I think either 7 or 10 days off before the next one begins. I'll be taking The Family and Society and Genealogical Writing! Yippee! You know how much I love creative writing! NOT!

Oh Maggie you make me smile with your dislike of written assignments. I am part way through my sermon, timed myself and I am barely at the halfway mark for a fairly minimal sermon.... I feel your pain!! :-)
Suffice it to say, I sure hope today is a better day than yesterday was.
Maggie and Maxine, it's good you can feel the suffering the other is going through with the writing assignments. ;) Is the saying "Misery loves company" appropriate?
I on the other hand like writing assignments. I had one this weekend... which HAD to be 75 words or less.... telling what I've been doing with missions since 2003. EEK! That was a bit of a challenge - and I used exactly my 75 words. Turned it in to our national organization (it will be published in a piece they'll send out to leaders). The woman in charge got back to me and said how much she appreciated that I used 75 words. She said way too often people sent in many more words than that and she had to tell them to reduce the words. (Whew! I'm sure glad I took her seriously and didn't have to rework it.)
I got up early for bible study today- which was excellent. (starts at 9AM...thats early lol). I came home, ate some home made Chicken noodle soup then too a 2 hour nap..... I seem to be tired alot lately! Not pregnant, I know that for sure hehehe
I am not the greatest writer- I am more of a math and science girl! My daughter Stephanie is quite the writer, but unlike you Jeanette, she will write 3 pages, then have to whittle it down to 75 words.
Spring- please do come and join us here! Looking forward to green grass and flowers! We have alot of work to do in our yard, we lost a few plants in a storm last fall with high winds. 7 arborvitaes to be exact. We have some on order and as soon as they are dug, we will be doing some planting.
Shelly, I had to giggle, because I, too, had to whittle... I just did it before submitting the material. ;) I think you're body is trying to get well, hence the need for rest. You'll have your energy back when you're completely well.
Good Morning Inky Friends! I hope the first day of spring was a good one for you yesterday. I had a meeting early in the morning and then a few errands along with some shopping. The super moon was stunning yesterday morning as I drove west to my meeting. I will be watching lots and lots and even more basketball games today and in the next few weeks--I love this time of year! We are actually heading to TGI Fridays at Miller Park this afternoon for a March Madness party, sponsored by a vendor where Rebecca works--they rented out the entire restaurant and everything is free for us! Marquette plays this afternoon and the Badgers play tomorrow. There are a set of brothers on the Marquette team and I know their mom pretty well! Have a Terrific Thursday Everyone!
Lots of family time/messages here today as it is Kelson's birthday. Coffee with DD and SIL (and step son, via WhatsApp) this morning, and a whole family fish and chip dinner this evening....
