Thanks, yes, I have been busy lately...mainly when the baby is asleep! For the Jr. legal pad with RSVP pen holder, I sort of combined the concept of the mini gel pen post-it note holder with the Jr. legal pad with inside flap. I thought the pen holder might be a better seller. It is still sort of a work in progress, but I will try to get the dimensions together and post them for you when I can.
Thanks so much! I think that these may be a big seller in my area....everyone seems to like any type of notepad!

I have figured up my approximate cost to make my items and below is what I was thinking about charging. Please let me know if you think any prices are unreasonable. Thanks!
Marble Tile Coasters $4.00 each or 4 for $15.00 6x6 Marble Tile Trivet $5.00 Composition Book Journals $5.00 Jr. Legal Pad w/RSVP Pen Holder $5.00 Magnetic Frame with Post-It & Mini Gel Pel $5.00 Top-Note Style Gift Card Holder $2.00 Tic Tac Box $2.00
I haven't done the coasters/tiles, but everything else is right in line with what I sell and how I price them in my area.
For your show in August, I have found that Teacher Gifts do really well that time of year. My kids go back on the 18th...we call these "Teacher Suck Up Gifts" !
Good Luck! Keep us posted!
Beth

Beth, thanks so much for all your help! I had to laugh at your "teacher suck up gift" comment! Too funny! Glad that my prices were in line with yours. Thanks again!
@sassyscrapin - wonderful idea (any chance of a side pic to show binder clip) - I think I did it right, just would like to make sure - also, how did you package them and what did you charge for a price?
I'm taking it to another step today (will post pics) - I'm making them into 'scrabble tile pendants' - think it will work - has anyone done this and, if so, how did it work out?
TFS - carole

Subbing. I've spent 3 days worth of spare time reading and making notes. Can I just say how impressed I am with the level of advice and suggestions? Not to mention all the incredible blogs I've found over the past few days.
To anyone who has shared anything in this thread, a huge thanks from me. I am going to be busy.
I put some tags on my blog the other day that I'm going to sell at my craft fair. I will probably make ones that I can use, in case they don't sell. Cards don't seem to sell very well around here, or so I've been told. You can click on the link to my blog below or you can go directly here to see the tags I'm talking about.
Where can I find the best price on the glue tape guns?
Also, several here have used the monsters under my bed papers. Where can I buy this paper?

I've been reading this site and I love the ideas and hints from everyone. I did my first show last holiday season and did better than I thought, but probably could have done better if I planned better. I decided to buy a table two weeks prior to the show. It was a small one in my town but I worked like a crazy person every moment I had. I plan on doing it again this year.

I suggest you read the reviews before you buy this one. Every reviewer only gave this gun ONE star. They also noted that it is NOT the same model as the more expensive guns. The price is still great. You'll have to make the decision based on what you know.

That's pretty cruddy. I will not be buying it here. Good way to cut off your nose to spite your face. (My review about the price increase was one that was deleted). As much as I support the cause, this is a bad way to do business.

Same size as 714 but NOT the same model/quality. That's why it's cheaper. Also CC raised their prices after getting a lot of pre-orders AND deleted reviews. Shady

So glad didn't place my order here, custom crops raise the price from 26.99 to 29.99 and they deleted previous review to prevent other people knowing the price change glad I read that review and I search around there another online retailer sell this for 24.99 pre-prder and free shipping if order over $60. Oh well, if you can wait, I would even wait til Micheal's carry this ATG and use the coupon.... who ask you be so greedy?

I've always done craft shows, but last year was the first time I did papercrafts of any kind. This year I'd like to do quite a bit more of the papercrafts, but I have a few basic questions.
Where do you buy and what type of bags do you use to sell your items in? The clear kind that you put cards in or the post it note holders made out of the $1.00 picture frames. Also bags to put premade scrapbook pages?
Where is the best place to buy the nugget tins?
I'm sure there will be more. Lately I've been putting quite a bit of time and money into the supplies. I'm trying to make a big effort to have plenty of items for all the shows.

I get most of those types of supplies from one of two places

On the tile magnets. What kind of sealer do you use for them? I did some last night for a function we have coming up at our local Eagles Lodge and I need to seal them. I actually embossed on them and they look great, but i'm afraid of the embossing coming off later on down the road.

Crystal Effects is a good one, but takes a long time to dry- I have also used a matte sealer by Krylon that I got at home depot.
Awesome thank you. I was wondering if just a spray can of sealer from walmart and such would be okay for them, or a better quality one was a good idea to use.
I've used the krylon. I cover a cookie sheet with foil and bake the tiles first. I forget where I learned to do that. Then I take the cookie sheet outside, spray it, let it dry for a while, spray again, and that's it. I'm not sure that all that needs to be done, but that's what I do.
Thanks for all the inspiration. I want to try the tile coasters and was pleased to find that my local Lowe's (North Alabama) has these 4x4 tumbled tiles on sale: Agora Gold for $0.24 each, agora almond for $0.34 each and agora Noce (a coffee color) for $0.38. They were in piles on the shelves and it was easy to pick through and find mildly pitted ones. I bought $4 worth to experiment with. WIth the great hints and tutorials posted here, I know I will have success.
Welcome LouiseAnn. You will love it here. The tips and inspiration are so beneficial. I love stamping on tiles and have had great success selling them. I think I have some pictures posted on my gallery of the boxed sets I made up. Good luck and have fun.

I wanted to chime in and welcome you LouiseAnn! I have been amazed by the generosity of ideas on here. Please post any questions you have and any creations you come up with!

I use Uline...primarily because they are almost in my backyard and really easy for pick-up...I haven't tried to many other sites...but if someone ahs a site for maybe unconventional packaging I would be interested in getting a link...
Hello everyone. This is my first time to post on this board. I have been reading all the post for a while now. I have a question for all you card makers. I am getting ready to do my first craft show in November. I haven't done one in years and am going to attempt to sell greeting cards. I am looking for ideas on how to protect my cards from fingerprints and smudges etc. Do you put them in sleeves or bags? And where do you find them. I have been checking on line and the shipping is as much as the item. Also is it better to sell sets or individual cards. I was thinking of selling sets of assorted cards but am at a loss as to how to package them and display them. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. And by the way, you guys are all fantastic!
I know I'm late but if you are wanting to do this again this year:
You can get clear envelopes from Amber Shaw here on SCS, put the card and paper mailing envelope inside the clear envelope - her website said a card AND envelope will fit in her A2 clear envies.
If you want them to be able to open the card, get the card jackets from her. It will still protect the front of the card but they can open it and see inside.
If you do sets, I would get quart size ziploc bags that are clear (not the heavy duty freezer ones). Put the set in there, cut off the zipper, and put a topper on it.
Great display Bugga!! Loved looking at your pics! Everything looked so cute and perfect!I am very excited for you! I bet your booth stays busy all day. Have fun tomorrow! Cannot wait to hear all the details! Wish I could go to your show!
Loved your pictures - what were the $1 m&m things you were selling?
I've got my first papercrafts craft show this December, and trying to get started now. I'm hoping to find more local craft shows, but that's the only I know about so far. It seems our PTA's here do them before Christmas as a fundraiser, so I'm probably going to be doing lots of those. (hopefully they do them this year!)
Thanks to the encouragement here, I took my cards and jewelry to our local artists market today. Wow - I sold 2 cards and a skull charm, for a total of $8! No table fee, limited to a six-foot table, so up front costs.
I did have fun - it is from 12-4 every Saturday. I did get lots of complements and several ladies wanted to know if I'll be there next week. One of my friends said the more I can be there, the more likely people will look for me before the Holidays.
I usually don't use sentiments, but one lady was specifically looking for cards that said "Thank You". She bought the 2 I had. So I will make more Thank You cards this week, but nothing else. I didn't take other stamped items - My magnets need work and I haven't tested the tile stamping yet (I hope y'all saw the comment someone made that said the Home Depot tiles were better than Lowe's). I can build my inventory slowly.
However, my husband said he would be embarrassed if I ever made snowman poop! LOL!
LouiseAnn, just a thought for you about the sentiments...
Since it sounds like you might have some time there, why not bring along a good all-round sentiment set (maybe Sincere Salutations) so that you can "customize" with a sentiment on the spot.
The other thing I've done is stamped a bunch of sentiments on small pieces of neutral cardstock (cut or punched) and added photo tabs to the back so people can select and insert their own sentiments.

These are both great ideas!
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! Since I don't have use very many different colors, I can punch out scalloped ovals and such, and have sentiments ready in coordinating colors. I don't have a lot of sentiments yet - mostly "Thank You" in various forms - I am waiting for the new SU catty to order them in clear version. I have the Sincere Salutations and teeny tiny wishes and associated punches on my wish list. (My demo is going to love me and my first July order - I've been saving up!)
When someone posts what they have done for a craft fair...can they give a link to their gallery or blog with the item or say it is posted in their gallery and we can click the gallery listing in your avatar...some of the things getting posted sound really really cool but for some reason I can't wrap my head around what it might look like...thanks!!!
