Good morning! I had a lovely time at book club last night. We were discussing An American Family: A Memoir by Khizr Khan. It is very inspirational. If you haven't read it yet, you should. It was meaningful to me because we were studying about the Constitution in my American Foundations class this semester.

Sun is shining today. I have to finish up my school work for this week. Hopefully it will all get done today.

Finally received my check from my client for my research work. The mail is getting so slow. It took 9 days to get here and the person just lives on the other side of town.

Default Hello

Waving hello!

Appetite is better, but not back to normal. I made Chicken Tortilla Soup today- which I could live on..... and added tomatos from the freezer that were from the vine- yum...yum...yum...! I invited my neighbor over- she enjoyed it and have some for the priests at our church as well.

It was over 40 here today- was like a heat wave! LOL We have had snow on the ground for 2 weeks- usually, in November when it snows, it warms up and melts quickly. Not this year! The farmers are having their challenges (Rays brothers still farm the family land).

It is crazy to see 40's and even 30's in Texas!!! Maggie- glad you are thawed out! Hope your next semester goes well! Katie would love that book- she is a history teacher : )

Barb- it has to be colder there than here, so hope I do not sound like I am whining (Oh yes I am )!!! Hope you get your laptop back quickly!

Maxine- it is always amazing to see your temps warming as ours are plumeting! But I know I have roses pictures to look forward to!!!

Waving hello to all!!!

Shelly

Here's another one Shelly - it's a gorgeous miniature standard and flowers almost all summer. My phone will only let me send one photo a day, so you will get these in instalments :-)

I have not been on line much as I have had a tummy bug over the weekend that has really knocked me - getting better slowly now...

Waving to you from a very wet Down Under - at least the wind has dropped!!

Hello Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Maxine, I'm so sorry you've not been well - I hope you're feeling better now. Your roses are gorgeous!

Shelly, your soup sounds delicious - I'm sure it's a hit with those you generously share it with , too!

Maggie, that is quite slow mail - so glad it finally arrived.

Waving to everyone else. It's going to be a crazy busy week here (and only 4 days long as I'll be out of town Friday/Saturday for a meeting). I hope whatever your week looks like, it will be a good one!

Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, it is. Not sure why some gets here quickly and others do not. I'm also waiting for a challenge kit that was also mailed out on the 5th and still has not arrived. I'm hoping today, but I won't have time until the weekend to play with it.

I did some card making over the weekend. It is a kit that I got from Papertrey Ink some time ago. I'm making note cards and hope to get at least two sets done to give as Christmas gifts. I would like to have a set for each DD and DGD, but I don't think I have that much time to do that.

Good morning. Week 10 of school, so only 4 more to go and the last week doesn't really have much to do.

Had dinner at DD's last night. We played two games, but I didn't win either. DGD one the first and then just as we thought DGS would win the second, my DD came from behind and beat him.

Good Morning--Happy Tuesday! I am having lunch today with the new Superintendent at my former school. He was a coach and teacher when I was there and left for other opportunities. I had lunch with the retired a couple of times a year since I retired and I hope to continue with Luke. I had stamp-a-stack yesterday for traditional Christmas Cards-fun designs! And, I get my laptop back tomorrow! Yay-Yay-YAY! I hope you too have a Terrific Tuesday!

Good morning.

Had to go to the PO to mail my research report to my client and the law firm. I had already sent them a digital copy of the report, but couldn't send the attachments with yahoo. I need to go again this morning to mail a swap then more school work. I have two discussion posts to write.

Continuing work outs in the mornings. Yesterday I started doing the Walk Workout with The Biggest Loser. Workout for the legs that I thought were pretty strong. I'm also doing a couple of short Silver Sneaker workouts during the day since I am sitting for most of the day.

I had some time last night to work on my Christmas project for awhile.

I was up way too late last night. I had three meeting yesterday (all online). I'm in a new mentoring group for my family history research classes at noon. There was a BCG Webinar at 7 about Native American research which I am interested in and then we had our regular Tuesday nigh class meeting for American Foundations which went almost two hours instead of the usual one. Meanwhile I was trying to get two peer reviews done for Research Methodology class. As I was finally working on those, a friend from my not too distant past messaged me to see if I could help him with his Family Tree on FamilySearch. Of course, I said yes. Trying to tell him what to do without actually seeing his screen took a little doing, but he was finally able to get where he wanted to be and fixed his issue. By then it was midnight and I could not get to sleep. Took one of my sleep aids and finally feel asleep and woke about 5:30. Back to sleep for another two hours.
Today should be an easy school day so I plan to get some things done around the house like cutting back the rest of my milkweed. The weather outside today is gorgeous.

Hello SCS Friends! I had a meeting at 7:30 this morning, so I was up and out of the house early. It got over around 10:30 and when I got home, we working on raking and mulching leaves. Many were still on the trees when the snows came. We did get quite a few up before the chipper ran out of gas........... and we did too! I also finally got some of the pots and baskets off of the deck and put away too. We are to get a good deal of rain tomorrow, so we wanted to try to get a lot done today. My laptop is done and I have an appointment tomorrow morning to pick it up-YAY! I hope you have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Hello Fellow Stamp Addicts!

FYI - I'm leaving early tomorrow morning for a couple of days (out-of-town meetings) so unless I pop back in later today, you'll not see me again until Monday. Have a GREAT weekend!

Hope your pottery class goes well Barb.

Have a great trip and hope your meetings go well Jeanette.

Good morning. Busy day today. I have to write an essay about Walter Williams, economist. Ugh. I hate writing. This afternoon I have a webinar at 2, family dinner at 6, and another mentoring meeting at 8. I hope by the end of the day I'll have everything done for this week and have a nice long weekend to play.

Good Morning Inky Friends! I am typing on my own laptop this morning! I have a couple of errands this morning and then some stamping. We are heading out of town tomorrow morning to head up north for a pre-wedding reception on Sunday afternoon. It is for a nephew of Rebecca who lives in Florida and is getting married in February. He is home with his fiancee for Thanksgiving and the family is have a party. I am guessing it is like a wedding shower! We are not coming home until Monday morning to try to miss some of the hunting traffic! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I survived my day yesterday, but it was touch and go last night. I went over to my sister's for dinner and to visit with my cousin. She had told me about 5:30-6 PM. My nephew in law was making a pot of chili and cornbread. Their family didn't show up until almost 7:30. I had to eat and run by then because I had my mentoring meeting with the Department Dean. That went well. I learned a few things that I have to consider as I move forward with my classes. I need to make an appointment with Advising now before the Spring semester next year. I'm already set for Winter semester.

I've got a test down at the med center this morning at 10, so off to get ready for that. Not seeing the doctor so that will save some time.

I'm back!!! I have been blessed with the loan of a near new laptop - several years old but basically just used as a glorified typewriter - I can use it as much as I want for as long as it takes my family to get me one (probably a couple of months or more) and put in it the programmes I want, as long as I uninstall them before it goes back to the owner!! God is good!

I have had an incredible week - I finally got over the tummy bug by Monday afternoon, by which time it was looking as though I may have had a clot in my leg -so it was off to Cambridge on Tuesday for a scan - that was thankfully clear, then Wednesday the computer died, mid-way through my sermon for this morning!!

But thankfully it was saved, and I was able to print it off, but all my references were online. My daughter lent me an old computer of their's, but it was smaller than my own, and the screen was very dark and I struggled to see on it. I did manage to get all my references up and finish the sermon off, but wow, that was not pleasant!

Summer has hit again in full force and I have been out in the gardens quite a bit again

Great to catch up on the chat - waving from a very sunny and warm Down Under

Maxine, it's good to see you - YAY for a loaner laptop!

Shelly, you're taking "driving with the kids" to a whole new level with the 70# grandpup. ;)
I am now in officially in stress mode... i have more to accomplish in my 2-day week than can be accomplished in a normal week. Wish me luck on getting the To Do List tackled.

We leave Wednesday morning to go out-of-state to visit my family and won't return home until Sunday night. This is the first time we've been away from our home for Thanksgiving for close to 30 years.

Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can I get an AMEN!? I did get my 'Bux on the way home from dropping off the kid at 6 am! Tooooo early ....
especially since we got home at almost midnight last night!

Glad it's a short week!

Welcome back, Maxine! Yay for the loaner (Got one, too!) and isn't it wonderful to be 'in touch!" summer - it's still summer here, too! LOL!

Thanksgiving is at our home (of course!) and I'm super excited - it's my husband's favorite holiday! I am always the chef and host so I prepare LONG in advance for the madness! I mean festivities ......... and we have my daughter's inlaws and grandparents coming as well as 2 "strays" And my mom - she's going to liven the place up! As a vegetarian, this is my LEAST favorite holiday (that bird! :( but I push through and do what I gotta do!

And with Alice, it makes everything more fun!

I'll cover my eyes and pretend I didn't see Barb's post about her (_____) Traffic :(
Safe travels to you and Jeanette .......

Shelly - I have found selling hit or miss! It's the holdiays so sales might be slower as people are in Christmas mode! 29 more sleeps!!

Hugs!

Good Morning--I echo what others have said and this is going to be a very busy week. We had a good time up north and got home early yesterday afternoon. The weather was nice and we did see the sun for most of the time. We drove around the area and saw a house I lived in 40 some years ago--it has not changed very much.......... Today is catch up day here and I really hope to get into the stamp room as next week will be full with Christmas decorating. We start our Thanksgiving celebration tomorrow afternoon with supper at Rebecca's nephew's house and then Thursday we head to Illinois for three more days of visits and meals! We will be home Saturday night as we have show tickets for Sunday afternoon. Whirlwind--here we come!

Hope you all have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving - it's Friday here and the Black Friday sales are in full swing - and I am staying clear!! Thought I had better behave myself for a week or so as I have some big bills coming up... including DH's headstone.

I have been putting that one off, but with what would have been his 80th coming up early next year, I am finally getting my act together, and DD is helping, having done the research and shopping/organising online for me, bless her.

I have not been in the studio for weeks, but I had better get my act together - I am sending out the last of my bought cards this year - I have had a small stash for years, and having sort of lost November, decided I would use them up!

Waving to you all from a decidedly summery Down Under

Hello Fellow Stamp Addicts!

We arrived home last evening after a safe/enjoyable trip. I've read the thread but since I've been away a few days, I'll not make comments to the posts made. Suffice it to say, you ladies are such a joy to know.

I hope each of you (the Americans anyway) had a fabulous Thanksgiving. We did. It's December now - and time (past time actually) to start the home transformation for Christmas, so today will be busy unboxing beloved Christmas decorations and turning our home into the forest of my dreams.

Tis the season I love most!

Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning--Happy Monday. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and if you went shopping, got some great deals. We had wonderful family times, spending 4 days at 4 different places with great food and sweet family memories! Today starts the decorating as we have a holiday cocktail party Saturday night. Many of you know that we or mainly I, go all out with more than a dozen decorated themed trees and the main one is 11 feet. That is the one I start with and always hope it only takes one day. The weather is to be cool all week, so it will be a bit nippy when we do the outside lights.............. I hope you have a great start to the new week and month of December!

We had a great Thanksgiving at my sis's house. Not sure how many were there, but the dining hall was full and the table full of food. I couldn't even get a little bit of everything. My plate was overflowing. I did limit myself to my one piece of mincemeat pie that my sister makes every Thanksgiving. I love it just like Mom used to make. There are only three of us in the whole family that like it so I'm happy that she makes it for us. I made some chocolate chocolate chip cookies and they turned out really good. I only brought a few home.

Friday was our annual family trip to Old Town Spring. There were twenty of us at lunch. We go every year to Puffabelly's. I didn't end up spending very much money, in fact, I think all I bought was some dark chocolate fudge and other candy. LOL! It was great though just to be all together. They did have a petting zoo this year and we fed the goats and sheep. I even kissed one of the goats. My niece got a picture but I haven't seen it posted yet.

Yesterday was a down day for me. I stayed home. Some went to the movies, some did something else. I played in my stamp room and made a few cards and got some images colored.

My DGD had a birthday yesterday, but we were at my sis's house for dinner so it wasn't really her birthday dinner celebration (my DD said). We are celebrating her birthday next Sunday which is okay because we had cake yesterday and will have more cake next Sunday. The following Sunday is my DD's dad's family Christmas party. I was kind of invited, but not sure I want to go. This is a family that had nothing to do with me while my Ex was living, so I don't really feel inclined to celebrate with them. I have gone to lunch a couple times with a few of them. Then the Sunday after that my sister and I go to see TSO with 3 of her DGS's. The day after that I head to my DD's in CA for Christmas.

I'm looking forward to that because hopefully both of my DGD's will be there. The one will be coming there on the Saturday after Christmas. They may be moving back there soon. She has been interviewing with a company in the area and was home last week for an in person interview after about four phone interviews. She is now waiting to receive the actual offer to see if they will give her the salary that she wants. If they do, then they will come to CA after Christmas to do some house hunting. I'm so excited for them because this is their dream and didn't think it would happen for another year or two.

I need to get started on shopping also and finish up some Christmas cards too. I was working on a project that I hope to finish too before Christmas. I am making a few sets of note cards. I wanted to give some to my DD's and DGD's (at least the ones that will use them).

School semester is almost done. I have to finish up one more project for my Research class this week and then that will essentially be done. I have an essay to write for my American Foundations class this week and then an exam next week and then a final exam the last week. So far I've been keeping the grades up to an A, so I hopefully will end up with an A in both classes, but will get at least a B.

Happy Monday, friends! I almost missed greeting you today! I hope everyone had a wonderful and FULL Thanksgiving! I tell you, I'm feeling my age - I almost called off Tgiving this year. I reached to pick up a basket of toys Wednesday heard a POP in my back and threw my back out - like screaming labor pain level. All night I couldn't take the pain or sit or lay or stand - and at 2:30 in the am, debated should I ask someone to take me to the ER. I sucked it up and wobbled around and had my daughter's help some but still ended up doing 85%. I want a merit badge! LOL! No black friday shopping - I did the last few peoples online! Awesome, AWESOME deals!

Maggie - Happy Birthday to your DGD! Tomorrow is my mini me's birthday ~ 21! My girls are all officially older than 21 now - and it's just little man who's 'the baby!' We are actually celebrating both daughters (one is 21, and Alice's mama is turning 25 on the 8th) on Sunday since THEY are both busy and I have a VIP meeting tomorrow at the school - looks like little man is going to New York or Kentucky or somewhere next year and we get all the deets! And then there's daughter #2 who's bday is at the end of this month - and then Christmas!

You've probably seen by now the sad news of ours loss just at Thanksgiving. I do love our neighbors but they need a reality check with their dogs. Our family is still shaken and we are grieving - it was HORRIFIC to watch and not be able to do a darn thing. But He is mightier!

Hope everyone is doing well and I'll catch up - a few cards to crunch tonight and i'm almost certain I'll be in bed by 10! I could nt' get up this am to get The Kid to school. The alarm went off and OOOOOH how painful!

Hello Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Kelly, you and your family are in my prayers - both over the loss of Sunshine (such a horrific situation) and your back. With so much to do this month/season, it must make it even more difficult to take care of yourself but please try to rest your back as much as possible.

Maggie, your life is so busy - you seem to enjoy many relationships and activities.

Barb, I hope you made more progress than I did yesterday - I only got up one tree. And I'll be gone all day today so won't get back to cleaning and decorating until tomorrow.

Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning--We had a few errands yesterday, including getting a new TV, so the main tree is not finished. But, it will be today and I will start on other decorations then. I love seeing the tree up, lights on and ornaments shining! I hope you each have a pleasant day too!

I am home again for a few days, and then away for five days next week. Have just been down to see DH's family, travelling with the BIL and wife who live up this way - one SIL is under Hospice care, and is becoming very frail - so glad we went, and the other with dementia has had a change of medication, and is having an improvement in her ability to move and talk, and is generally more alert... it's a hard trip, but so worth it.

Tomorrow a couple of friends and I are off to Rotorua for a day out, Friday the car is serviced, Saturday there is a "Christmas morning tea" next door and Monday i leave again for a week at a retreat centre ....

The new computer has been ordered, and will hopefully come into the country before Christmas - I will be very happy when it gets here

We had a storm blow through yesterday that downed a couple of large trees locally, which landed on a parked car and a moving one - thankfully nobody was hurt, but that section of street (near me) is currently closed as they are removing several trees and heavily pruning others! They are oaks, and looked spectacular in autumn :(

Waving to you all from a currently calm Down Under
