Well nothing seems to be working for me today--:( :(

Anyhow let me ask y'all a question. I know this is primary a papercrafting site but we all do assorted other crafts so hoping someone will give me a feedback. I'm making soaps for this up coming seasons shows. Some will be just your average bases, nothing added except some coloring and scents, they will range in size from about 1 3/4 oz--4 ozs. Others will be a bit more detailed such as decorative detailing (which isn't the easiest to pull off but is awesome when it comes out right!), others still will be my own recipe ( for which I'm testing now and having great results) All will be sizes listed above. Most of these are going into paper boxes I am now making. My question to all of you---What would you be willing to pay for handmade soaps? I know what it's costing (chock but hoping it pays off) but I know I could never really get 100% profit, at least not until I'm completely set up and running. Any and all help will be appericated.

Lisa, I love all your items. TFS. Looking forward to seeing them in your gallery and will watch out for your blog. I am very new to blogging too. It is great fun and not as difficult as I once imagined.

not a problem! I got them at a local craft store called Pat Catan's. They may sell them online under the Darice name. I believe my price for that size is $1.50 (vendor pricing). The size is roughly 9 in tall and about 2 in wide. They are so fun to alter! I sold them altered for $5. Hope that helps!

Those were sets of tile coasters. I tried to sell them without a box but you couldn't see them very well as I had the bag tied over the image. Duh! So I made a box for them to fit into and the very next show I sold 2 sets for $12 ea!

I have a P.O. box just across the border (I live on a border town), so I will likely order the test tubes as suggested.
Why are they not big enough for smarties?? What will fit in them?

I have ordered the tins from U.S. also from Specialty Bottle. I bought the rectangle size hinged lid tin, and plan on including a tooth chart for toothfairy tins.

As for holding your folders together I use the Basic Grey disk magnets ... they work great. I tried buying other magnets ...like the black ones on the role and they just will not hold. I take the magnets and put them behind a layer of paper and they work great. The magnetism in them is very strong. Like I said before they are the only ones that work. They are a little pricey though I think its 7.99 for 8. I hope that helps

Where is a good place to get the clear bags to protect your craft items? I need bags for my cards and also bags to put individual crafts in. Does anyone have any good sources that they would be willing to share?

Thanks.

I get my card cellophane bags from Stampin Up - they are great to put individual cards in. .
Otherwise i use those sandwich type (ZIP) bags to put little bits and pieces in.
I think they come in larger sizes, check the supermarket? All the best hope this helps a little.

I also buy from Clearbags.
One of the tips I used is: I calculated a size that would work for multiple items (bag folded over double or less when sealed). I was able to order 1000 for super cheap and it will last a long time that way.

I wanted to share the cute little tooth fairy tins that I made. I used the stamp from SU and the tins are ones you find in the wedding section (got mine for 50% off), there are 30 to a container. This was very quick and easy to make. Oh, I did cut a circle piece batting for the inside for the tooth to sit on. I think they would sell really well on a craft show!

MARY: These are adorable! I swore off craft fairs last month, but I'm starting to weaken.....this will go in my 'idea' file, just in case!

They are lovely Mary. I think they are a brilliant item for craft fairs. My SIL who lives in Florida has been trying to get the tins for me but they were sold out in her local Michaels. I found some in Joann s online store they are wilton 25 tins for 19.99 with discount available. Do you think these would work ? If so I'll order online for delivery.

Thanks in advance

Hi Anne,
They are the same thing. The quantity is the only thing that is different.

Thanks for the fast reply.
I was also thinking of making some Santa Keys. I found some again online in Joanns from K and Co ten in a pack. What are your thoughts on whether they may be good sellers at fairs. I don't think they are widely available here in Ireland at Christmas.

Thanks Rita. I'll limit it to one pack of 25 so and see how they go. I can always make more if the demand is there.

How ironic you should mention the Santa Keys. I was putting away my Christmas stuff this afternoon and suddenly thought that I hadn't seen our "key" for a few years. (Our new house has a fireplace so I haven't thought about it for awhile.)
I had never heard of them until our friend gave one to my son when he was about 4 years old and concerned how Santa was getting in our house.
All you can do is try!

I just googled Santa Key
Here are some links~
The first one is some poems that go with the key:
Santa's Magic Key Poem

This features a few different styles of keys to buy:
Santa's Magical House Key | No Chimney ~ No Problem | Give Santa A Magic House Key

Here's a site on how to make them:
Santa's Key Craft - Make This Easy Christmas Gift

I think this is a great idea! Adding it to my idea book.

P.S. Rita, I like your blog design, can I ask who did it? And your creations are fantastic, too!

Considering the tins are so easy to make (and so cute, both of them!), it's always worth trying. Selling seven of an item really isn't that bad, IMO.

I think this is a great idea! Adding it to my idea book.

P.S. Rita, I like your blog design, can I ask who did it? And your creations are fantastic, too!

Thank you so much, I luv this idea & I will file it away for the future when I have grandchildren. My son has a fireplace in his house but my daughter does not. I can't wait to have grandkids...hopefully this year for son & maybe next year for daughter.

My blog background is from Scrappin Blogs here is the link:
Scrappin' Blogs I think this is what you wanted to know.

The blog template 2 column is from blogger & I tweeked it with things I wanted...I'm not computer savy it was a lot of work & years to finally get it the way I wanted with lots of learning curves. Blogger is very simple to do & if I can do it anyone can...just requires lots of patience. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog.

Thanks Rita, this is exactly what I was looking for!
I figure it might be time to jump on the blog (writing) bandwagon instead of just watching all the floats go by (reading LOTS of blogs). You're a doll!

Thanks again.

Sharon

Rita, maybe you can help me too. I am very new to blogs too, only a little over two weeks. How do you put MY BLOG after your name on these posts.

When I do it I am just inserting a link and it comes up as my blog name.
I know this isnt really the place to ask this question but since you are helping us with blog layouts I thought I would ask.

Anne
aok's paper stuff

This is what I mean above.
