Question ladies... I am thinking about doing a show in April of next year... never done a Spring show.... what sells good during spring?? Need ideas before I commit to a show!! Thanks
In my humble opinion, you need to scale WAYYYY back your expectations for shows in the Spring. While there are plenty of holidays (Easter, Mothers Day, birthdays, etc) people do not buy as much for these holidays as they do for Christmas. At least that has been my experience which was hard for me. I was used to doing Christmas shows where I made hundreds of dollars and then in the Spring I was lucky to make my table fee & cost of supplies. Maybe others will have better results to share.
Hi all. Hope all the holiday shows went well. I was going to stop...but I just can't. I was talked into doing one last event this Sun. I've had sooo much inspiration this year. Thanks for all that. I'll pose this question...I know I posed it before...but if you only have a short time...what is the one thing you would make last min. When there's one day left I still want to make everything...I end up with 20 half finished projects...ugh...not this time. I think I'm just going to work on restocking my birthday cards and do a few more calendars. I might also try and do a few new years banners. I did manage to finish a few more Christmas banners...
I would suggest some Snowman S'mores packs. I have sold a bunch this year at $3 each or 4 for $10. They are a little bag with snowflakes on it (15 for $1 at the Dollar Tree), with a snack sized Hershey bar, two graham cracker squares (in their own bag) and a snowman peep (in it's own pretzel bag). I then cut out some Top Notes with my Big Shot, embossed them with snowflakes, folded them in half and put them on the top of the bag. I also put little foam penguins/snowmen with glitter santa hats on the front of the bag. I got those at Michaels for $1.99 for 36. I printed the instructions on a clear label and placed it on the back of the folded top note. You can obviously change up some of the components, but I went with the easy route on some things to save time. I am making 24 for a friend to sell at the realty office she works at. The cost on these is about 75�, so it's definitely a money maker.
ladies i need alittle recap on adhering tissuepaper onto a candle. i know the basics. i think my problem is in the amount of time w/ the heatgun. do i get it on one spot til i see melted wax? i tried 2 tonight. no luck. one has a crinkle or 2 in the "paper". i just didn't care for the 2nd

I need some off season help if possible. I'm making soaps now and they are smaller than the normal size. Does anyone know where I can find templates to make boxes for them? Also how does one wrap them so they look pretty. The cling wrap isn't doing well and I'm not sure how the plastic bags would work. I have time to experiment but don't like wasting supplies so if someone out there has an answer I'd appericate it.

I still stick mainly to cards (have not ever done a craft fair) but made one name frame as a gift and a pin for a contest. If I can ever actually build up a stash of cards (instead of still stamping Christmas cards on 12/22) I might be able to concentrate on making 3-D/gift/craft fiar items.

Here's what I used. I printed them on the clear (frosted) labels. I would maybe change the time to microwave to 5-10 seconds. My microwave runs a little hot and 8-9 seconds was just about right.
The instructions are on the printed labels above this post, plus described in Cristel's post. The labels are on a pdf file.

One trick to putting the peeps into the pretzel bags is to tap the gooey ends in powdered sugar first, otherwise they won't go into the bag. I then cut the bag down, put a little tape (ATG) on the end and folded the flap down. The bags that I used for the graham cracker squares came from the jewelry dept. at Michaels.
Merry Christmas, everyone! I made way too many M&M Styx and didn't use up all my stash of m&m candies (unopened bags). Does anyone keep these for next season? They took me way too long to get them in those little 1x8 bags so I would like to keep them. Does anyone know how long they keep? BTW, my kids want me to call them M&M Stacks not Sticks.

You can keep them until next year. The expiration date on M&M's is something like two years. I do have a suggestion for those you have not already "stacked". If you divide the Red from the green you have M&M's for Valentine's Day in Feb & for St. Patty's Day in March. I saw an awesome Valentine "stick" made into an arrow somewhere on one of the other threads. I would imagine a shamrock topper on a green stick would be cool too. Blessings to you all.

Good idea about the unused candies. Glad to hear there is a long shelf life. Do you suppose it would be the same if the package is opened? If you can find the valentine stick, I would love to see it.
if you packaged in the stik bag I'd put all those in a zip lock bag and store them in a cool place till next season...the bags themselves probably aren't as good as a zip lock for freshness sakes, but putting them in one would probably be good insurance on them, haha or assurance that they'd stay fresh..just my 2 �

Here is a site that I came across that has an SVG Soap Box template, so if you have SCAL or something like that your Cricut can cut it or you can print it off and cut it out by hand. Soap Box Template

Thanks for this info. I tried this template and for the life of me could not get it to go together proper. Maybe my brain just isn't seeing how it should go together ( ;) ). I don't have a Cricuit or any cutting machine :( yet so all my stuff is done by hand. I can use a png in my scrapbooking program. And let me tell ya I have searched the net over for something and am not having any luck. Good thing I have some time isn't it!!
I have followed faithfully this thread for most of last year and a little of the previous year. I have to say a very very big thank you to all of you ladies who have given so much of your time and effort to inspire, tutor and help. With all of your help I was motivated to start making items and sell them at craft fairs to raise money for local charities. In October 2009 I raised 320 euro, in December I raised 400 euro, in June 2010 280 euro and for this Christmas 1476 euro. None of it would have been possible without all your help. I have just started a blog and will load the photos of these fairs and items made.

Having had a few days rest over the Christmas, I think I am nearly ready to commit to a spring fair. Could someone direct me to the post for fairy tooth tins. I thought they would be a lovely spring item.

Yes Sharon, he was really a brilliant help. Each advent calendar had 24 x 3 punched out circles x 20 tins.
He punched out the card and I punched out the patterned paper.

Thanks Maria, I get many ideas from very talented ladies on this forum. The carriers are cake boxes. I was given them as a present to help with my fund raising.
