I quit watching the news. I have enough to deal with without the constant virus news.
Kathy I hear you but it’s not going to go away. People aren’t listening and until they realise this is not like the normal flu, then we may start to see this dreadful virus go and hear less of it. I believe that it is travel that is spreading it. Yes the media does dramatise things but we are watching news from world Drs, scientists and our Prime Minister. They don’t do things lightly. It is stressful. Today I went to get some basic foods...meat is now disappearing and yoghurt, flour, sugar. It is crazy and they can’t say when stocks will be replenished.
We are cancelling our trip and I’m sad but we will do what we must to stop the spread. We are currently watching a top world expert advise the problems it is creating. I really wish all countries would do what ours and America and Italy has done. People just aren’t getting it including washing their hands. We have been dealing with it for a few weeks now and it’s getting worse daily. More and more cases.
Sorry, but I shall be self isolating soon and creating and drinking more. After all alcohol kills germs..lol. I also think this will be gone in 6 months as it will get out of control if people don’t do what their government asks. People here are worried about sporting events cancelled...really. Watch it on tv or read what the experts are saying. Yes the media dramatises everything but the experts are giving the facts. That is what we are going on. If you want to know the truth look at what is happening in Italy and China. Read what their Drs are saying. Take care, keep well.

Our basketball has just been on tv..with paper head cutouts in the audience as no spectators allowed. So cute.

Kandie, I have a saline wash. I’m supposed to do it weekly. I don’t. I use a saline (steroid) nasal spray daily. It is the only one that works for me. I am noticing some triggers and avoiding those. Today I woke again with a headache and have had a dry cough all day. I’m sure it’s an allergy. I don’t have a humidifier and haven’t thought of using one. I can go for weeks and no issues and then when the weather goes cooler and then warms up again, wham it hits. Pollen during certain months doesn’t help either. It affects my ears and throat when it’s bad. The ENT specialist does not think it wise for me to have an op at my age and says to just take an antihistamine daily...I do..and use the spray.
Ann, I’ll have some pie. I don’t have much flour so I can’t bake any, not that I bake much any way lol.
Sending a virtual virus free hug to you all lol.

Jayne, you are a riot! Alcohol kills germs, lol! I read that to DH, and now he’s on a roll coming up with ideas for beer commercials.
I use my saline solution every day and every night, otherwise everything tastes and smells like smoke.
I do understand the dry cough and headaches from allergies, indeed, and you are probably right. We had one day here at 60 degrees and we ran errands. I had to go home. The fresh cut flowers in the stores for Easter were killing me.
I’ve been doing a lot of research online on this virus, and you’re so right about the washing of hands and covering mouths when coughing.

Shelly, I love Mediterranean food!! I have a wonderful cookbook I rarely use, but if I ever get creative I do have a book of recipes!
Yes, the glare is from the implants and is supposed to go away. I find I’m still having trouble in bright light and carry my sunglasses with me everywhere. Some tv brightness makes me close my eyes. It’ll pass! And speaking of glasses, my distance eyeball starts at 18 inches and out, and the close eyeball is best at 18 inches and closer, so I can hold a book out and read just fine, but that baby blanket crochet was so blurry that I kept getting eye strain. Soooooo, a pair of cheapo cheater glasses at 2.50 were bought, and the right lens pried out so that just the left would be brought closer, and wearing them brings everything closer and nice and crisply clear! Looks goofy, though, lol. One lens in and one lens out!
Send some of that 70 degree weather an hour and half directly East, please! Oh, I bet those cherry blossoms are just so beautiful.
Yes on Nancy Drew, and the Hardy Boys as well. Do you still read mysteries?

Baby blanket is finished, and a baby card I had previously made to go with it. I seem to be developing another upper respiratory infection, though, so I’m not sure about making it to the shower. But one of the ladies in the family will swing by and pick up the gift.

Everything is closed or cancelled here. The March Madness for the NCAA basketball (major fun for the guys in the area), spring football for the ND players, the Lion King live production that has been advertised ad nauseum on TV at a local auditorium, all the schools, the churches are advertising they do extreme cleaning before and after each service, no communion. Even the stores are sending out emails on how they are deep-cleaning heavily-trafficked areas.
Kathy, we too are sick of the news. I have been in streaming heaven, as DH now says don’t you have a Netflix or Amazon Prime something we can watch? Yes!!!
DH went to Target for toilet paper and said the shelves were totally empty. Then he went to Meijer (like a Walmart) and waited in line over half an hour. He bought one of the last two on the shelves. The store manager was chatting with him and said some of the people shopping he has known for years, and they were buying stuff they have never bought before, people were going crazy, and he’d never seen anything like it.
People around here must be ordering everything on line, because the Amazon trucks zip by here several times a day now, and even rental Ryder trucks are delivering Amazon boxes.
Let’s see, last year it was the mosquito scare, the year before it was the extreme flu epidemic closing schools and businesses.
I had something I was just going to write, and now it’s slipped my mind. Maybe I need another cup of coffee, lol.

And I think I’ll breakout the wine and start having a relaxing evening, lol.
I just ordered the cutest cheetah face masks from Amazon. By the way, toilet paper, all except the thinnest ply possible, is currently unavailable on Amazon.

Kandie only use the masks if you are infected. Hospitals and people working in healthcare need them the most. I’d love to see a photo of you though with your mask. We can’t get any. Our Drs are struggling to get supplies too. I heard today that people use masks and don’t realise what germs get on them....yuk. Keep washing those hands I say. Maybe I can make one using one of my bras..I saw one of those today lol....don’t remember where now. It gave me a chuckle. I’m sure we all would like some of those right now so keep posting your daily funnies.

The pies went out the door early this morning to son #4's work. He is in charge of pie day. Don't know if he took all 4, haven't gone down to the frig to see. He said last night he was keeping the big blueberry pie for himself at home! I was giggling! He sure loves blueberry.
Yes, shelves are empty here, but still regular food is not yet in short supply.
Saw that the CDC site is now recommending having a months worth of supplies on hand at home. In the beginning it was 2 weeks worth.
Kandie, a gorgeous blanket and beautiful card to match!!
Because the governor of Wisconsin called a state emergency my granddaughters school had to cancel all activities. The 3rd and 4th graders were suppose to go for an evening concert at the high school - they were singing. Nope can't do it. She was in tears last night, she takes things so hard.
I agree lots of information on tv, but doctors and experts information is ok - all the other stuff you need to look away or not read. I check in with the news online but read what I want to know and then done!
Gotta run, dogs are waiting for me and my stomach is growling! At least I am showered and dressed.
Kandie, the baby blanket is adorable. And those hand pies look delicious. A few years ago, when my sister's apple trees over produced, I made mini apple pies in muffin tins -- bottom crust, filling, and streusel topping. A lot of work, but then I could freeze them in small packages. Pop one pie in the microwave and eat fresh apple pie, and not feel obligated to finish off the whole pie.
I have to go to Walmart again, because our order came in last night. Can't get DH to go. Bummer.
Good morning! I'm on the couch surfing SCS, I've already made the grocery list for DD1 when she gets off work in an hour and 15 minutes, DH is behind me in the dining room working and talking on the phone. I'd love to set him up in our room but the weather is supposed to turn cold tomorrow so, next Monday, when he is "back at work", he'd be cold back there.
Yes, everything is getting cancelled. An area school's girls' chorus was supposed to do all the music for our church service this weekend, and the first call I got at work yesterday was their school board had met and cancelled ALL extra-curricular activities so they wouldn't be coming. Of course! Our music coordinator is thankful for my DD1 because she said she would pull music together for this weekend. That means that I'm singing with her group.
DD2 is hoping that the whole high school trip will be cancelled. Can you tell she doesn't want to go? I'm hoping at least part of it will be cancelled because for part of it, they were headed into San Francisco and I'd just as soon they stayed away from there.
Melody, I have an apple peeler like that. It belonged to my parents. I don't use it often though. Too bad you can't talk your DH into heading out to Walmart for you!
Shelly, you are so busy! I also loved Nancy Drew books and Hardy Boys, read lots of them if not all. I just loved to read...and loved finding those flashlights the size of a pen so I could read after I was supposed to be asleep. That worked until mom caught me!
By the way, the perfumed TP that DH brought home landed in the garage, packages open, hoping that some (most) of the scent will go away! It totally overpowered our laundry room, I suggested outside on the back deck which is where DD2 and I put it, but then she wondered what animals it might attract so we moved it to the garage.
Shelly, I wish I loved to cook! I'm glad that you do.
You crack me up, Jayne! Too funny that they made paper heads to fill in for live spectators too.
Kandie, your baby blanket is so pretty. Lovely colors! We also love Mediterranean food, so yummy!
Those hand pies look delicious and remind me of empanadas.
Holy Moly, so much chatter! I read it all but I'm sure I'll never be able to remember everything!
KANDIE, that blanket is so beautiful and the card too! What a lucky baby.
Jayne and Kandie, I hope your sinuses clear up. I hated it when I was in Wisconsin for the winter...I had constant sinus infections and headaches with changing weather. Crossing my fingers, after saying that, hoping I stay healthy. Don't want to jinx myself.
As for the virus, last week I stocked up on chocolate from the Dollar Tree...Milk Duds, Raisinets, Dove, Kisses and Sea Salt Milky Ways minis. Yum! I'm so naughty, but I do practice portion control!
Air hugs to everyone!

No, my DH takes care of that stuff! LOL
He has always bought huge bales of TP, paper towels from Sam's Club. He is a sale shopper...so we have lots of food supplies in cupboards and freezer. Thank goodness for my practical honey!

I did`t have time for chatting. My DH is not in good health. So he had lots of appointments at the Doctors. The only thing I could manage was to catch up with my Challenge cards.
From Monday until 10. April, all schools are closed, also the universities, Libraries and community centres. We are not supposed to to go to church, to many people, so the doors are closed. All events have been cancelled. The granchildren should not visit us, because we are a risk group, if we are 60 and older. The nursing homes and hospitals don't allow visitors.
That's the Reality news about the virus from here.
Dagmar, so sorry to hear about your dear spouse! Hugs dear lady.
We too are seeing schools closing. Just this afternoon! The schools in Menomonee Falls, WI are closing. that's where my spouse and I attended school in the Falls.
Get this, just like weather closings, our local news station (online) now has the link to click on in the upper right hand corner of the screen "coronavirus closings".
Beautiful blanket Kandie! And Gracie, that's my kind of stocking up! I'd also seriously consider the wine! Its good for cholesterol too!
I saw a woman push a full cart of toilet paper out to her car! I don't know where she found it because the shelves were totally empty when I went inside. Bleach was nearly sold out. I didn't even look at hand sanitizers becausemi had just bought a huge bottle the other day. My DS2 works for walmart. I said his profit sharing should go up this quarter with the empty shelves I was seeing! My BIL went uptown to get toilet paper to take to Philadelphia this weekend. Last I saw there was 17 cases of the virus there and his son can't find tp anywhere! Fortunately, I'm a natural stock up gal. I have about five unopened boxes of tissues and a pack of paper towels and three 12 packs of tp.
Dagmar, so sorry to hear about your dear spouse! Hugs dear lady.

It's all so weird, like something out of a movie.
The Walking Dead? I'm sorry, but if people turn to zombies I'm a goner because I'm not sticking them in the head with a knife! And i dont have enough ammo to last long! Lol God is still in control......
Kathy, you brought a smile to my face over all this!
DS2 and I were talking about TWD and how that virus was supposed to have started. I told him if this is it, I'm a goner! The President is on TV again. I need Judge Judy and her kerfuffles! LOL
Went to Walmart, then across town to Office Depot to get a couple more boxes for my cards. A clerk asked me if he could help me & I asked for Really Useful Boxes. He gives me this totally blank look. It's kinda funny, because that is the name of the boxes, but he did direct me in the right direction. I got 2, because that was all they had in the size I wanted.
Went back out to the car, and the car wouldn't start. So I called DH, but apparently he was taking a nap, so I just sat in the car and waited. Didn't even have a book along to read. He finally called, had to get dressed to come. He has a little gadget our son gave him that you attach to the battery like jumper cables, and got the car started. He said to switch places with him in the garage, so he could charge the battery. I pulled in too far, and he was going to back the car up a little, but it wouldn't start. So he had to move the waste bins to get in front of the car, but got the charger on.
He said his church has cancelled in house services, and are just doing online.
Well, Ann, I suspect that it probably would have happened in the near future anyway if my battery is bad. So it's better to be closer to home. And it certainly could have been something worse than a battery, so I'm thankful. We really can't afford car repairs right now.
Ha, Gracie, maybe we should all come to visit you in Arizona, since your dh stockpiles, lol....
Kathy what is TWD? That is crazy that his son cannot find tp anywhere in Philadelphia!
Made a card for the rainbow challenge this morning. Not too sure about it, but posted it anyways!
Melody, funny about those boxes at O.D.
Ann, I just made two loaves of banana bread this a.m. Your pies sound so yummy! I love blueberry and apple too!
I have fond memories of always going to the library to take out novels of horses etc. when I was around 10. Coming home and holding the sofa down to read, drinking tea and eating bread and butter, while my mum was slaving away in the kitchen! I did not read Anne of Green Gables till I was in my 40's or 50's! But love them.
Jayne, I saw that funny as well, about the asian guy using a bra for a mask!
We have some tp., some wine, so we are good for now, lol. My step son and his family were planning on going to Vegas on the 21st, but looks like they will cancel their trip now. They are just waiting till after the weekend to see if there is a change in travelling advice.
Shelly, enjoy your visit with Stephi. I am sure you will and safe travels home!
Catherine, I would not like perfumed tp. at all. But if we had some and put it outside to get rid of the smell, it would be blown away as it is quite windy today and very cool today.
Hi Linda, Victoria, Karen, and anyone else I missed!
DH is picking us up some wine tomorrow. We are not drinkers so there's no telling what he will bring home! LOL. The doctor recommends it to try and get my cholesterol level down.
Good evening. I have the flu again. Coughing, sore throat, runny nose, tired, aches and pains. The news mid-day had a list of what symptoms are coronavirus, which ones are flu, and which are allergies. I’ve got everyone in the flu column and am miserable. Even my kneecaps ache, is that even possible?
Hearing about the lady walking out of the store with a cart full of toilet paper made me so angry. Should have been a maximum quantity sign posted. Some people are so, so very inconsiderate.
Now I can’t go to the baby shower, so DH’s DIL is stopping by to pick up the gift and take it for me.
Tomorrow is DH’s birthday. His boys and grandson are taking him out to lunch.
I ordered the face masks to wear out if I have to go out and I’m still coughing. Coughing and I go together like peanut butter and jelly. It takes forever to go away.
