Dagmar, I'm sure food cooked in the clay pot is delicious. I don't think I am a good enough cook to remember all of that, but the bread sounds like it would be very tasty. I like the idea of the steam helping to cook the food.

I would like to finish up Falliday Fest cards today and I have lots of Christmas cards to make for my Black Friday sale. Too much to do and too little time.

Good morning! We are supposed to get rain this afternoon. DD1 has picked up a longer shift today (she is working 8 hours, much to her chagrin). She said that business has picked up, I guess people are out shopping for Thanksgiving already? I'm not sure.

Jan, Spotted Dick was one of the foods we googled. And, last night, we found something that explained the name to DD1's satisfaction. I'll have to check out Toad in the hole later when she and I are both home from work. We also googled black/blood pudding.

Dagmar, your clay dish sounds wonderful - I'd be concerned that I would break it though.

Jayne, jam roly poly? I don't think I've heard of that one.

I love that the lady at the bakery saves croissants for you, Jan.

Gracie, you are doing a lot of sales, hope your Friday one goes well and you find time to create for it. I got my cards finished and just have two tutorials left to do. I showed DD1 the Snowmen Nuggets and played Lydia's video for her and now she is excited that I want to make them for her co-workers at her store. She very much appreciated Lydia's words about being kind to the drive through workers and how Lydia recognized the difference in how they treat the employees at the window. She often works drive at her store and boy, does she have some stories! People ask and demand things that I would never consider doing!

Evening everyone!  My day got away from me!

The power company turned off our power for 4 hours last night or early morning!  So it woke us all up with alarms going off.  Not very restful for any of us!
They were doing maintenance!  Catherine I so do not like not having power, and can't believe how often you guys were without!

Need to catch up on the chatter now!

I'm afraid to Google spotted dick! LOL

My eyes went weird tonight and I had to call the doctor on call. I was missing words when reading on my tablet. They just blurred out. In the dark j saw circles with moving electrical shock like things. The doc on call has excellent bedside manners.. He calmed my fears and is setting up an appt tomorrow morning.

Yes, Ann, I absolutely hate being without power as well. If they turn the power off before we go to bed, I try to make certain everything is off in case it is restored while we are sleeping.

Kathy, no worries, it is completely safe to google spotted dick.

Thankful that you got a doctor with excellent bedside manners. Praying for your appointment.

My brother has his third surgery tomorrow morning, his other eye surgery.

Kathy, praying your Dr. visit goes well tomorrow! So glad you got an appt. with a kind Dr.

Catherine, I'll add your brother to my prayers also.

I've been working on finishing up Falliday Fest challenges and tutorials. I only have 2 challenges left.

I'm also uploading my Fantasy creation before tomorrow's new challenge!

Busy day.

Ann, I hope your power stays on tonight! Sleep well.

Default Hello

Hello all!

Dagmar- coongrats for joining the dirty pile!  Love your gallery!  And, Jayne- gorgeous work in the Dirty Girls gallery this month too!

Waving hello to all.  I am not sure I will finish Falliday- I think I have 7 to go- 4 tutorials and a few cards.

Today, I finished all of my card kit swaps for SCS groups the rest of the year- and got them to the P.O. and mailed them too.  I am the coordinator of Christmas Crazy, where we exchange Christmas images and DP every 2 months- and it is low maintenance. I am in 2 groups that swaps card kits, next year, I will just do one.....  it will not have as many members, so will be less demanding.

The european foods and names are great- but I think I love the Yorkshire pudding one the most- even though I cannot have dairy so could never eat it.....

My youngest has been cleared from Quarentine from her roommate having Covid- she has had 2 negative tests....  We have also both been tested since going to Colorado, and both negative.  We find that bring food in a cooler to eat on the road, our only exposure is getting gas and going to the bathroom- and travel with Clorox Wipes.

I am behind on my Alpha cards- need to get inky still with E and F then G!!!

Hugs
Shelly

Thanks, Gracie.

Kathy, some recipes seem to be made with currants rather than raisins but I'm by no means an authority on British food!

Wow, Shelly, I got tired just reading about all the groups you are in!

DH has been randomly selected to be tested on Thursday. He was tested two or three weeks ago.

Kathy I hope you eyes are ok and your appointment goes well .

I always use sultanas instead of currants for cakes as they are plumper. Ive been debating if I should make a Christmas cake but with being just the two of us this year it’s a lot to eat, not good for the waistline

Shelly , good news your DD is negative and you are certainly a busy girl!

I already have two girly cards finished both using BGs I’ve had for a while.

I didn’t sleep well as my thumb is throbbing, I hurt it when I was crafting yesterday, I was sticking the Christmas card parts together and pressed down too hard, my joints are painful. I put some ibrufen gel on but it didn’t help much! I’m struggling this morning to lift my cup, surprising how much you use the thumb!

I had a strange dream too, must have only lasted for seconds but steve told me it was only 5am so I tried to go back to sleep , I dreamt I was in line trying to buy ice cream, it was so busy I couldn’t get to the counter to order and then a woman came up to me, she was with me but I’ve never seen her before, I don’t have a clue who she was!
I woke up and it was 5.30am

Morning!

Sorry Jan that you have a bad dream, bad that it woke you so early!

Kathy, praying your appointment goes well and what a great doctor you spoke with!

Dagmar, congrats on being a dirty girl!  Must get over and look at the gallery.

I am behind on cards this week too, been working on a recipe junk journal for myself!

Off to get my day going!  Dogs don't look to happy about moving this morning!  They are preferring the comfort of their pillows this morning!

Good morning Ann and Jan.

Kathy, I hope the Dr. can find out what was happening with your eyes today.

Jan, I understand about your thumb throbbing. I have arthritis in both my hands. I hope your feeling better and got some more sleep after the strange dream. I thought you were going to say that your ice cream melted while you were waiting in line! LOL

Good morning....I need toothpicks this morning, I'm so tired, I just want to go back to bed. It rained most of yesterday and all night. This morning Honey irritated DH because he took her outside, she turned around and came right back in (she hates rain), then, while he was showering, she peed on the carpet. Now she's had her morning pumpkin and is sound asleep on the couch beside me.

I don't like it when I wake up tired. May I go back to bed instead of work?

Yay for your DD, Shelly. After working all year at Starbucks, DD1 has one poor co-worker who is quarantining because he was exposed. He doesn't have it, none of them have gotten it, but he has to quarantine until the time is up or he gets the results of his test back.

Kathy, I hope your appointment went well and they determined what was going on. Your poor DH having to get tested again so soon. I understand it isn't a fun test to take.

OK, Jan, now I had to google sultanas. Do you have a freezer? Does your Christmas cake freeze well? I'd suggest making it and freezing part of it if that works.

Sorry about your thumb throbbing and what a strange dream. All that and you didn't get ice cream!

Ann, are you going to share photos of your recipe junk journal? I'm thinking about my girly card...thinking...thinking...

Gracie, I think I want to be a dog today!

I did get some commenting done on the Falliday gallery last night while listening to my DH and our friend visit. (Once in a while I could get a comment in there, but not often!)

Time to quit whining and get to work. Chat with you later.

Catherine, I hope you have a good day at work! Sorry you couldn’t just be like the dogs and go back to bed.

I'm playing Mahjong this afternoon. I have one card left to do for Falliday Fest! I love these challenges.

Default Hello

Happy Wednesday!

I have morning chores and piano done, so ran and did errands.  I found an alternative for sour cream- plant based- that I can use so picked that up and will make beef stroganoff for dinner tonight : )  It will be a treat.  I will seperate the pan and add real sour cream for Ray : )

I should go work on a Falliday or an Alpha card.....

My hubby does the dishes, and does not cooperate with cleaning for clay pizza or clay pans- so he dunks them in soapy water.... I can either find an alternative or do the dishes myself........

Kathy- hope your eye appt went well - prayers for a good outcome.

I had a historian contact me from upstate NY, he found my Geanology tree on Ancestry or Family Tree.  I also invited a cousin who is way more into genealigy than I am to the conversation. We have been learning about that area and the many Irish that flooded into the area- pre-famile.  My Ryan ancestors are from there.  He sent us a list of all of the clan names and told us about the type of work they did, etc....  He also gave me the name of an elder gentleman that knows many of the past folks and also remembers meeting Ryans from Iowa.  My GG-grandparents moved to Iowa from Upstate NY. I love these stories!
So after hearing all of that info, I got onto ancestry and found baptismal records for some of the earlier families- 1790's.......  it is like finding a puzzle piece that is lost and it fits into the puzzle : )

Hope you all have a fantastic day!
Shelly

Got to my eye appt early. Door was locked. I waited n the truck with DH and decided to call to see what was up. That location is closed today! They had made my appt for tomorrow. Since the doctor wanted me seen today, I went to his other location about fifteen minutes from the first. Luckily he had a couple of cancellations and could take me at my original scheduled time. Since I was early I had just enough time to get there. He took eye Photos and said the both looked good. From what I described, he thinks it was an ocular migraine without pain. He was super nice. Told me I did the right thing by calling and if it happens again, I still need to get checked.

Kathy, the ocular migraine was what I thought it might be.  I used to get migraines frequently.  On occasion, I'd get the flashing zigzag stuff.  That was usually before the headache, so I would immediately take my medicine to avoid the migraine.  I didn't get that kind often, but if I let it go, it just got worse, and I couldn't see because of the flashing.

That's the first thing the Dr asked me when I called last night. Had I ever had a migraine. Since I've already had posterior Vitreous sac detachments in both eyes and a horseshoe retinal tear on my right, they want me checked out anytime I experience anything new. I've never had migraines, painful or painfree. My sister gets the painless ones. DH says he wishes those were the kind he gets!

I would totally agree with your DH, Kathy.  I quit getting migraines when I contracted menopause.

I'm glad you were able to get in to see him today, Kathy.

I have had ocular migraines. They are annoying but nothing compared to the actual migraine. My mom would throw up, take Excedrin, and go to bed. If she did that, it passed much more quickly than if she tried to work through it. My mom quit getting migraines when she retired. I told her that work was a four letter word!

I've been trying to decide what to use to do the second Falliday tutorial. I just don't have that interesting of die cuts - especially Christmas themed. I do have lovely snowflakes...nothing is inspiring me for that one.

Catherine I don’t envy you having to go to work when you are still tired, we call work a bad word!

Kathy pleased to hear you know what is happening with your eyes, eyes scare me if I get something in them as I’m always scared they might get damaged. Our DILs eyes are gradually healing thankfully, our son says he knows she can see better to read as she now has her iPad an inch away from her nose not actually on it! The optician told her to leave getting new glass for a while until they are healed to see how much vision comes back.

Shelly that sounds interesting, my dads mum was Irish, grandad met her when he was a soldier sent to Ireland in the troubles as they called them, that’s all I know about her, she died very young when my dad was twelve,  her sister lived in London, we used to visit her once a year.
They have a programme on here called who do you think  you are, they find a celebrity and do their  history, some are very interesting, mind you one man who was on it previously has just made a programme about his Jewish family and the holocaust, made me cry what his family went through, so awful.

One celebrity was asked if he would go on the programme but they didn’t follow it through as it wasn’t interesting enough LOL

I’ve enjoyed doing some of the FF challenges, I never usually do any, the twine one, well I’ve enjoyed it so much as I’m using all the twine I’ve had since I started crafting, I was so engrossed yesterday afternoon steve came to see if I was ok, I usually go down at 3 pm at the latest, he made me jump as I was concentrating so hard on it I didn’t hear him.

Kathy so glad you were able to get in to see the Dr. and even better, your eyes are OK! Great news.

Jan, Tom does that to me quite often...he'll come into my craft room and say, "How's it going?" and I'll jump AND scream...I'm a big screamer when I'm startled! If he's close enough, I'll punch him. LOL

I'm finishing a card for my last Falliday Fest Challenge. I love the slower pace of these challenges.

Have a great day!

Good morning!  I feel like I have been MIA forever.  I’m so far behind in chat that I only read this last page.

I learned Toads in the Hole in Home Ec in eighth grade.  They were so fun to make and so tasty I would invite school friends over after school and before mom got off work and use up all her bread and eggs cooking for my friends, lol.

Kathy, I’ve had those kind of migraines before.  My doctor called them ophthalmic migraines, so irritating because I would lose the vision right smack in the middle of my eye, and yes, those flashing zigzag lines were so annoying.  Gladly, I had no pain with those either, although I’ve had enough regular migraines with incredible pain to make up for it!

Has anyone been watching the newest game shows, Let’s Make a Deal and The Price is Right?  Wayne Brady looks exactly the same, but Drew Carey grew a beard and a long mustache that flips up!

We watched Bull last night.  It was about the pandemic.  It was actually a fun one, lots of rock music which Bull would be singing to.  I won’t reveal the ending in case some of you haven’t watched it yet!

I completely remade DD1’s journal because I have learned so many new things, and now I’m remaking DD2’s.  DH’s DIL and his DS2 stopped by for a visit, masks on, and we had a nice visit.  She looked in the spare bedroom on her way to the bathroom and saw my little collection of vintage purses I have on the wall, one was a tiny 70s velvet pouch with a peace sign on it, and she got so excited.  She said she was a hippie at heart.  Naturally I gave her the purse, I’m not really into retro, I like the more elegant vintage items.  Now DH and I have been coming up with ideas to make her a “hippie” journal.  Do you know how many great bands and single artists there were in the 60s and 79s?!  I have pages and pages of band names and copies of concert posters!  And of course, DH said, don’t forget Cheech and Chong, lol.

But I’m tired of journals right now and am trying to get back into keeping up daily with SCS.

Oh Shelly, I forgot to mention to you, our name is Ryan, and on ancestry.com I traced his family lineage back to Ireland in four generations but lost it due to lack of records because of a fire.  I would love to know how you traced your family back so far.

Morning!

I slept in this morning!  Wow, son woke me up!

I will add my recipe journal to SCS too when I take all the pictures for Facebook.
It will take me awhile to get everything written in or printed.  I had the idea I wanted to do my most frequent recipes on tall tags and I may laminate them too.

All of you who suffer from headaches are in my prayers, they sound so horrible. I used to get lots of stress headaches and I also get them if I have too much dairy. Dairy seems to give me lots of side effects now more then ever.

I need to look at challenges too, but not today.  Weather is in the 50's and son and I are going to clean the garage.  So no crafting for me today!  Have to take advantage of a nice day, probably our last!

Have a great day everyone!

I finished three Christmas cards and one was with twine, again, help I think i addicted to it, I think it’s because it’s something totally different and I do like something that I have to think about.

I also made some washi tape and then sprayed it with spritzer glitter and all the inks ran into each other!!

Good morning! It is lovely and sunny here this morning. I just read through the chatter and was laughing at your DHs startling you as you craft. I tend to always be aware of what is going on around me - even if it doesn't look like it. One time I was in DH's office waiting for him to finish up work. I was sitting there reading and two of his co-workers were having a conversation and then started talking about me being so into my book that I didn't know they were talking about me. This went on for some time. The next day, they told DH about it and he said, "No, she heard you and knew what you were talking about." They didn't believe him so he called me up and asked me and told him, almost word for word, what they had been saying. They were astonished.

DH, on the other hand, will get so deep in thought that he doesn't know what is going on around him. I made some tea for him this morning and delivered it to his desk (AKA our dining room table). I said, "Here you go." No response, he was just staring at his computer screen. So I made up a conversation for him saying, "Why thank you, dear, you are so kind. I love you." And then I replied, "You are welcome, I love you too." That got his attention! LOL

Jan, glad to read that your DIL's eyesight is improving. Praying that it continues to do so.

I've heard of a show like what you were talking about. I think some celebrity had been on it and didn't like what they found in his family tree.

I'm glad you liked the twine challenge, it was too fiddly for me.

Gracie, I can just imagine you screaming when your DH startles you.

Kandie! You have been MIA for a long time, glad to see your post this morning. How many times will you have remade those journals before you give them to your girls? I'm sure they are fabulous.

Yes, I watched that episode of Bull just last night. It was definitely unique! I think I have told DD1 enough about it that she might have to watch it.

Good luck with the garage cleaning, Ann. What a chore.

I haven't tried making washi tape yet, Jan, but I did watch some of the videos.

i made an army of Nugget snowmen last night - forty of them. I'll take photos later and get them uploaded. Now I just have to wait until after Thanksgiving before I let DD1 take them in to her co-workers. I really liked what Lydia said about blessing the drive through workers with them. DD1 confirmed that the drive through customers are more difficult than those who come in to order. I also selected some die cuts to make Dina's Falliday tutorial challenge and got that glued together last night. Now to finish the paint layers and see how it turns out.

Well, that work time has come again. Chat with you later!

It's rare that DH startles me, but it does happen on occasion. The one who really creeps me out is my son who catches shoplifters at Walmart. Yesterday I was looking at women's PJs and got this eerie feeling I was being watched and turned around and there he was! Smart aleck! He knew I was in the store, probably saw me on the cameras. I jumped!

As for conversations with myself, that happens too. Again more with son when he lived here. I'll take a snack into him and he keeps on playing his video game. I say thanks Mom for the snack. I say you're welcome! Enjoy it. LOL.

Catherine, Kathy I do that too when Steve doesn’t answer me, I accused him of not listening as he misheard things all the time and I was sure he was doing it on purpose, he had an ear problem and eventually had an appointment and tests. The doctor said being in the army and the firing of the guns had damaged his hearing, he was so pleased to be proved right especially when the doctor said it was a certain pitch he couldn’t hear, I.e me!

Catherine I’m not sure how you find the time for making snowmen and work too!

I should have mentioned that I was happy to find the gloves to make the snowmen at Dollar Tree - two pairs for $1! And now DD2 has fingerless gloves for when it is cold in her room.

I think I have just finished the final tutorial for Falliday. I might put a sentiment on it, not sure yet.

Kathy, I used to hide in the dark hallway and jump out and scare my daughters. DD1 fell for it more often than DD2. I was highly amused, good thing they still love me.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who sometimes supplies the rest of the conversation for a family member.

How convenient for Steve, Jan, lol!

Jan, I don't work full time so that helps. And then I'm crafting (or reading) when I should be sleeping, there is that. Priorities, right?

Oh, I should let you all know that my brother's eye surgery went well. Hopefully that is the last business he gives the doctors for a while!
