Well, now that HYCCT is over my life is finally starting to slow down enough to spend some time on this thread! I just read about 5 or 6 pages of chat to try to catch up on what has been happening here. I feel like I missed out on half of HYCCT because I missed the chatting this year. But I really did love the challenges this time around. I think they were some of the most creative since I started doing this in 2010.
And I just have to say Ann (annsforte3), I am in awe of the number of cards you have completed for this drive! WOW! I did send 73 in my box, but I did not link them up to a challenge as some were ones I had made for other challenges and not for HYCCT.

Thank you to the challenge hostesses for your creative descriptions of the challenges! I've participated each year AND this is the first year I created a card for each challenge! As a breast cancer survivor I look forward to October and HYCCT! My cards plus some extras are going postal tomorrow.
Pssst, Ann! The total should have gone up, I've moved a few cards from albums or member galleries into the main HYCCT15 gallery - and done a sweep through the DTGD15 gallery too, where I found quite a few waifs and strays.
I was looking through the Pinterest HYCCT Hostess Favorites Board and I must say I'm really impressed with both the quality of cards and the variety of the challenges this year. Of course, best of all is the thought of all these incredible cards going to the patients and their families. What a great cause and one that is near and dear to so many of us affected by personal cancer encounters.

I'm sure we all made a few mistakes along the way with the volume of cards we uploaded! I know I had a few with keywords missing. Thanks for moving those....looks like you found about 30!
I'm feeling a bit lost today with no more cards to make. I do want to send some to a Christmas card drive for nursing home patients that I saw online, so I guess I'll try to get in the Christmas spirit and work on those. I'm not a Christmas fan, so those are my least favorite kind of cards to make. I'm sure I'm one of the few cardmakers who says that. lol

You are probably less alone than you think...we don't celebrate any holidays so even doing Thanksgiving cards is difficult for me...now I can make lots of Thank You cards...just not Thanksgiving tradition ones.

That is awesome!! So glad to see the totals go up!
Working on Christmas cards today, almost done and will mail them this week. 110 cards ready to go!!
Ann, You amaze me in your cards and the number you can crank out. I have worked for 2 hours making one card tonight and my table is a complete mess. It was cleaned off before I started. I am in awe of your card making abilities and how quick you can crank them out. I felt great getting 4 cards done in 3 hours yesterday. LOL. As promised here is my pile of cards I sent and I even got a clear box for my 3D card that I sent because I wanted to make one really nice card to send.
Thank you to everyone that kept this thread going and all the great card makers. Thank you to all the very talented behind the scenes helpers and thank you to all the great hostesses. You kept me on my toes with the wonderful challenges and I am honored to have been a part of the wonderful team.
During the month I had no time to spend in this forum. Today I did a fast run through. Enjoyed it so much. The amount of cards some of you made is amazing. With being on vacation for 11 days during this, I was happy with about 50 cards! Sorry, mine are going to our local Cancer clinic. There is very seldom anyone other than me that takes them cards. Great HYCCT15! Thanks to all the hostesses and mods for all your work you do for us!

I can relate. This challenge gave me focus. Once my cards were packed up and mailed, I felt like the fun was over and experienced that lost feeling you described. Then I decided that I would take part in a couple of the ongoing challenge threads. I'm going to get back into scrapbooking and plan to give mixed media a whirl. Want to join me? I'll continue to make cards, too. Maybe I'll save them for next year's M.D. Anderson box. Or maybe I'll see if my local hospital would have use for them.

I do want to get started on my daughter's scrapbook! I am "only" 3.5 years behind. That's actually on my list for the yew year. To take a day every week and try to do one page. I plan to use Project Life so that should be attainable, right? And I do think I want to try Mixed Media! Are you starting at the beginning or just with the current challenge?

Don't feel bad, you are not alone. I feel the same way. lol
Does anyone want to help me clean my room? It's still a mess. I'm going to pack all the cards I made and mail them out. Going in the mail tomorrow. We are having ANOTHER rainy day here. It feels like its been raining forever. Our novembers always seem to be rainy and the temps are crazy. One day I have the ac running and the next is heat. You would think at my age I would be use to this. Same thing goes for daylight savings time.
I was so busy trying to get my HYCCT cards finished that I didn't have time to post in this thread either. I was 14 challenges behind when I started making my cards but I finished all 40 challenges. Uploaded to the queen's thread on Friday night and one day this week will pack up my cards and send off to MD Andersen.

I feel like I never finish cleaning! lol I have a goal to destash a lot and paint my room next year. I'll just need time to take a break so I can pack up and reorganize. It's a slow process but I'm working on it as I can. I'm hoping to pack my cards and mail tomorrow. So exciting!!
Wow Ann. You sure are on top of it all! I just stamped the insides to 70 Christmas cards. I don't know why I don't do them as I go but they're done now. I will probably need a few more cards yet.

Now, I will tell you that my Christmas shopping has been done for the last 2 months and everything is wrapped and tags and bows are all on the pks!!
I have always been driven by the fact that two of my children have December birthdays, the 12th and the 13th!! Plus having 5 sons, I really have to be organized! And now it is the five sons, plus!!
Every year we had all the families over for their birthday celebrations and I never wanted the holiday to interfere with that! So I was always done early with everything for Christmas! Plus, I took over all the holidays due to in laws not able to have the holiday and my father was alone. My mother died in 1985 so it was me always having every event. I have 4 brothers but you know how that goes! Besides my children always wanted to stay at home with their new toys!!
My family laughs and says time to dust off those Christmas cards, mom and get them in the mail!
I used to have my shopping done in September. Now I don't have to shop. So cards are about the only real prep I have to do other than making some cookies. I will mail mine out the day after thanksgiving.

My sons are 36 and 28-- so imagine how far behind I am on their scrapbooks!! Of course, we didn't take as many photos back then so I have huge gaps in their timelines of life.
I jumped right into the current Mix-Ability Challenge. mix145 Enter the MatrIX It turned out to be easier than I thought.
Here is the link to the main challenge thread: Mix-Ability Challenge
There are several Scrapbooking challenges. I haven't decided which one to join. Scrapbooking challenges Maybe I'll jump around and see what works on any particular week. I have decided to make my challenge participation simple and easy. If I feel like doing it, I will. But I won't scold myself if I skip a challenge.
I was 14 challenges behind when I started making my cards but I finished all 40 challenges.
Wow! I am so impressed!! You must have been making cards like crazy. I started on Day 1 and barely kept up. Congrats on finishing it all and in time to post to the Queen's thread! You really earned your crown!
Took my last box of cards for HYCCT to the post office today! Got it done early due to grandson still sick and no babysitting!!
Also mailed out my Christmas cards already!! 111 all done and gone!
Now, I wait for my family to grumble, about them getting their Christmas card before Turkey Day!! HeHe!!
OMG they should be totally grateful!!! (( why yes of course that's a play on the turkey day comment! ;) )) But it's true, some got Christmas cards after Christmas from me and some not at all last year!!!
I am still behind in making the Christmas cards this year and will have to make a mass produced one again this year. Last year I had to mass produce 50 cards on December 1st. Not sure how many I will need to do this year but it will not be 50 thankfully. I have not even started Christmas shopping. Golly I don't even know what to get my little guy. :(

I'm happy if I get mine mailed out by New Year's but many times I'm debating whether to just make everyone a Valentine card or to not send them at all since they're so late. Then if I did get any made, beyond the required few for immediate family & a neighbor, it gives me a great start on the next year's cards. ;)
