Dina - I just noticed you are from Warsaw Missouri. Do you ever go to retreats at Heits Point? It is the highlight of my year. I go in April and October and have the best time ever.
We just moved here, actually, so I haven't! I live closer to Lincoln than Warsaw, so I'll have to keep an eye out for info. Thank you!!
Dina - My DH would love to move to Warsaw because he loves to fish but I am still working so alas we stay in the KC area. Did you move from somewhere near by?
Rats. The cordial kisses have to wait. I broke another tooth! Its on the opposite side of the one I had pulled and that was the side I was to chew on while the other side healed!

We moved from Bakersfield, CA - we had lived near Camdenton before, and went to church up here so we still had lots of connections. My husband is working at an extension of City Union Mission here, and we live out in the country (our road ends in the lake!). We've been in town since the end of July but in this house for just a couple of weeks.

Will it work to suck on the kiss?
Aldi had their Hersey kisses out on Friday but no cordial ones...yep, I looked for you and Linda's sakes!!!!

I don't mind making it the 7th. The reports aren't going to change so it's not holding us up. And it won't change our double checking much especially if most people are done. We won't let you miss out 😀
Patty B, check out post #817 in this thread! You may be able to still post to the Yeti thread as Lydia said she wouldn't mind delaying til the 7th (see above). I would at least TRY to post in the Yeti thread, it's worth the attempt, especially if you did all the work!
The kids have a teacher work day off from their part time high school and since we follow their schedule our homeschool is off today too! We have to rake and I should work in the garden too, but both the challenges are calling to me too. Found out that we'll be having company for Thanksgiving so I need to menu plan for that also. Food is one of my love languages so that's always a joy .

That is so interesting. I love the Camdenton and Warsaw areas. We moved to Missouri when I was a freshman in High School... and I lived there until after my DH and I married and he got his first full-time church in Illinois. My family still lives in Missouri - on the route from KC to the lake.
After my college graduation (Warrensburg) I spent a summer in your area - as a summer missionary. Had a blast. Then I headed to KC (to seminary) where I met my DH.
How's it been for you - adjusting from CA to MO? Funny, but when we moved to MO when I was a freshman, our most recent location had been in CA. We moved a lot until I was in HS... every 3-6 months, in fact, all over the western half of the US. My dad's work was quite mobile. I attended 26 schools in my education.
Morning all! I would like to catch up on some card commenting. Have been so lacking in that area.
So appreciate the kindness of our community here! Thank you for such big-hearted moderators!!
I made Lee's Mac and Cheese Crack yesterday for a church potluck and it was a big hit. And the Sea Salt Chocolate Chip cookies of Lydia's (from her blog!!) were made again and just as delicious!!

Finally mailing some cards :10 each to the hospice and kids, 4 to the pets and 6 to Quiet Comfort. Got some raking done....two popped blisters to prove it and did get the 4 extra cards for quiet comfort made. Not too bad for our day off so far.
OH man, finally leaving a little love in the gallery. Feeling so lacking in this department! Combination of life catching up with me after Falliday AND the super nice weather that has kept me from wanting me to be indoors too much!!

I got my cards off in the mail today: 5 each for BSC and St. Francis and 3 each for Operation Quiet Comfort and the Humane Society. My first card drives in my first SCS event. I had so much fun and just want to thank all the challenge hostesses and all who worked so hard to put this together. Thank you all for being such a wonderful, friendly and welcoming community!
Big hugs!
Jen

We love it here. We had done our missionary training and first term of service in Roach (near Camdenton) back in 1999-2005 and came up to Warsaw for church, so we still have lots of strong connections in the area.
In 2014 we returned to the States abruptly after 9 years in Indonesia, and we have been through a lot since - our hearts were just so ready to settle and call a place our own. We're out in the country which suits us... scarce neighbors, deer, and 3 acres to spread out on. We love the small town feel too, and people are so friendly.
Dina, I've been to Roach... our paths have crossed. Your time in Indonesia was worthwhile, I'm sure. I'm assuming since you left abruptly, it might not have been a happy transition. I'm glad you're now settled somewhere peaceful that you enjoy!
I admire missionaries and the work they do - and I count you as one of the admirable! I've been on 10 international mission trips (short term) and am always watching for the next one. None in the plans right now, but I'm hoping I'll find my next trip soon... just waiting for directions from above.
And it says regarding the new prize/fun thread that "when reports are done" so likely that's a very big job and isn't quite done yet and all collected! Always fun when it starts!!
