I just cut some chipboard with my cuttlebug yesterday and it did awesome!!! I would say that depending on the thickness of teh chipboard, you may need to take out the bottom thin cutting board. It makes it a very tight squeeze through the rollers. I also own the cricut and I cant get it to cut chipboard for the life of me...
Your dies determine if it cuts chipboard or not. Cuttlebug dies and steel rule dies (like the original sizzix dies) will cut chipboard. Things like the Sizzlets do not cut chipboard. Still don't know if Quickutz dies do or not (thinking no).
HTH!

Quickutz dies are like the Sizzlets so, alas, no chipboard for them either -- sure would be cool if they could.
aubrey (montigg) got her quickuts die to cut through chipboard last night. it's all about the layering.
Sure I did
Pad A
Pad C
Die with letter up
Chipboard
a piece of cardstock
Pad B
For some reason the quickutz are not as "deep" as the cuddlebug dies (they are jsut as thick but the shape/letter doesn't stick out as much) and you need that tiny piece of cardstock to give it enough thickness/pressure to cut! Good Luck!

Thank you!! Thank you!!! Guess this means I should buy more QK grand alphas right? To make my own chipboard?? : )

Test it first cause I used reg quickutz not the grand ones! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the mini book in the grandsize though how cute is that?
That's on my ever-growing wishlist too. I think that would be so cute to make little books for grandparents and other relatives. So easy and cheap to make a new one so that you can update pictures frequently. : )

Well, Quickutz dies aren't the same as steel-rule dies so they're really not intended for cutting chipboard. I did try getting one of my regular ones to cut a piece of chipboard anyway, but it only made a deep impression -- didn't actually cut it out. I do wonder how good it'd be for the dies if you do get 'em to work . . . any thoughts??
I made this card using the CB Red Tag Sale Alphabet and red picture mat board. It cut through it with ease. I love that I can make my own chipboard pieces!! I used CB and Sizzix dies with my Big Shot. thanks for looking!
I need some help...
I need some chipboard letters - maybe 1 inch or 1 1/2 inch tall. I will buy whatever necessary to do this - I just don't have a clue. I was thinking about a cuttlebug because I have reading so many good things about them on SCS. Of course the craft stores here don't carry them...but what exactly would I need to buy and where do I get chipboard from?
Thanks for any help you could give me.

PatMil - you could definitely cut chipboard letters with a Cuttlebug, and the Cuttlebug alphabet dies. I don't know the size of the letters, but others have posted in the Cuttlebugitis thread about the sizes.
There's also posts there about buying chipboard (someone on ebay was selling it), but many are just using heavy board they have around the house: cereal boxes (might be kind of thin); inserts in scrapbook album pages; inserts in paper packs; back of paper pads.
Thanks for the answer...I have been reading other threads about the Cuttlebug. I just wish my local craft store carried it so I can see it up close...I saw a video clip on the Cuttlebug website, and it seems easy to do. I will have to look into next week when I have more time! LOL, I never have more time...
Pat.
I have heard that you can cut chipboard with the cuttlebug dies. I just got an alphabet and I woul love to give it a try but I am not sure where to buy the chipboard in thin sheets. Has anyone used their Cuttlebug to cut chipboard and if so where did you find the chipboard and how well did it turn out? I know that someone here will have the answers! Thanks so much!

The chipboard I've used has been from the packages of SU designer paper. It's behind all the DP and is white on one side.

I used left over scrap picture matting in my Big Shot with Sizzix and Cuttlebug dies....cut it with easy. Here are two cards that I made using this scrap mat board (red flower and red letters are the chipboard).
If you are just going to cover it with paper, what about using a cereal box. That has some strength to it, but its not too thick. I don't have one, yet, but it sounds like that may work. HTH
I just purchased a Cuttlebug and bought some letter dies. Has anyone made chipboard letters and attached paper to them? What glue do you use and how do you do it? Also, what fonts do you like. I bought the Red Tag font but want to get one more. Thanks.
I just used my Cuttlebug die with my Sizzix Sidekick and cut Chipboard pieces I was surprised that it worked and it didn't break the plastic piece!
My lss sells the pieces they get in the patterned paper packs for .25 each, I think that's a bit high for something they are getting for free, but I know they have it, so I pay it.
What I do is use Modge Podge to put the paper on the chipboard BEFORE I cut out the letters. You need to let it dry overnight, but it has worked pretty well.
I mainly use the chipboard box that my soy milk cartons come in. :-) It's the perfect weight. Heavier than notebook backing (another source). You can use cereal boxes, too.
Chipboard is just cardboard that is not corrugated (like a box). The Cuttlebug dies will all cut chipboard--even heavier stuff. You won't break your die by cutting chipboard that is too thick (although I haven't found any yet that *is* too thick). You just won't get a cut all the way through. Some dies won't cut chipboard (like Sizzlets).
I actually put together several chipboard coaster order to get mine. I ordered 4" square medium weight coasters, which work perfectly in my Big Shot. You can fit all four of the little Cuttlebug dies on one coaster. I have another order closing on Thursday, if you are interested. PM me and I can give you the details.

I get my chipboard from the back of legal pads at work and fromt he back of dd's old notebooks at home, all for free and it cuts beautifully in my Cuttlebug.
The alphabet that I have is the Olivia and it is pretty but I definitely want another one
The adhesive I use to adhere the paper is my mono-multi and it sticks like heck. I would love to try out a Xyron but I am just not too sure that the sticking power would be equal to the mono-mulit and I am spoiled from using it.
HTH!
Xyron will definitely hold anything you stick it to. Will it gum up the Cuttlebug dies? I've been afraid to try it, but would love to make some cardboard sliders with the Xyron on the designer paper. Hi Kim!
