It's normal. You can lower the pressure a bit or use a lower number on the blade housing but then you run the risk of it not going through. But you can do that to minimize the scarring.
Thanx at least i am not doing anything wrong! xx jo xx
Has you seen the Walmart sale paper? Cricut Expression in aqua, plum, green, or canary with Classic Font and Playtime carts - $185.00 Friday, Nov 26, starting 12:01am/ This is the southern california sale. So check your Sunday paper. Also, great prices on printers HP, starting at $20, including a couple of wireless ones.
Lite carts usually come without a box and the book and less cutting items on them, the full ones come in a box with the what's on the cart book, and all the shadow and blackout features. I only have one of the lite ones and I think but don't quote me the mini carts are like the lite one.

Actually, the LITE carts do come in a box... a plastic box that is IMHO better than the cardboard ones that the full carts have. They come with a TRIFOLD brochure that shows the images. Yes they have less than the regular carts but generally more than a seasonal or solutions cart. The seasonal & solutions carts are the ones that don't have a box or much for a listing of the images (usually just 1 piece of laminated chipboard that has the images).
Pricing for full carts is generally $60-90, LITE $39, Solutions/Seasonal $20-$25. This depends on where you buy. If you are like me and buy on Ebay a lot then you can get the full carts a lot cheaper. Not too often do I find a LITE cart cheaper on Ebay. Of course Walmart recently did a 2 for $50 deal on the LITES.

Thanks for the clarification about the differences between Cricut Cartridges.
You have cleared my confusion.
This is a wonderful machine.
Now to collect the tools!
I have pink journey that came with my E and Indie art, they are not fulll carts and had no boxes so I guess I lumped the lite, the seasonal and solutions carts altogether, my mistake and it's been cleared up for me. I don't see many varieties of anything but the full carts in shops here.
I just bought a new mat and cut some rather thick specialty cardstock (with glitter on it). It stuck so completely to the mat, I couldn't get the cardstock off without ruining what I was cutting as well as the rest of the sheet. Is this common to have it soooo sticky?
To condition your mat before use just walk your hands up and down a couple of times. This should take care of it. When your mat becomes not sticky enough you can clean it with warm soapy water, baby wipe, pretty much anything to just get the debris off. However when your mat is just not getting sticky after cleaning I have a method that I have had a lot of positive feedback from using Aleene's tack it over and over glue diluted. You can read more about it and see a tutorial here: Making Cricut Mats Sticky Again
In the tutorial I recommend and show what I am talking about "walking your hands" over the mat. I hope it helps!
I've posted this before here, I think, and I hope my repeat doesn't annoy anyone.
Laurie, thanks for the suggestion regarding my too sticky mat. I actually tried walking my hands on the mat, but was still too sticky. I finally ended up taking a dish towel over the mat. It finally ended up tacky and not too sticky. I will check out how to make the mat sticky again, because I'm sure to have that issue next :-).
Terri! Wow! I've had mats not sticky enough back when a lot of people were having that same issue and Provo craft were sending replacements. I guess they solved that problem! LOL! Now their TOO sticky! I haven't bought a mat is sooooo long. I hope that's not the new problem. Glad you figured something out!
Wow. What a great tutorial! I will have to try that also! I am also going to use it to make my own sticky dots. (Thanks to those who shared the idea!) I've been using Scotch magic tape and just taping the edges down, but that looks like a great fast method, and it looks like you can apply it to where it's safe from harming your cricut wheels or cutting blade. Thanks again!!! :p
I just got my Christmas Cards cartridge (a Christmas present), and I am so psyched about being able to cut the card and envelope using that cartridge. I know there are a few more that have that feature, and I think it is so cool!
I've never considered my mats to be too sticky. I also would not want to intentionally damage that sticknesswith putting my fingers all over it.
The best way to remove your waste material from your sticky mat is to turn the mat over and gently hold the edge of the waste material and lift the mat from the back of the waste material. Put your hand in and walk your fingers up the back of the waste material to remove it. Keep the waste material flat and slightly flex the mat to get it free of the waste material. Your cut pieces should remain on the mat to be removed with the spatula. If you remove the waste material as explained above, the left over material will still be flat and nice to use again for other cuts.
"I've never considered my mats to be too sticky. I also would not want to intentionally damage that sticknesswith putting my fingers all over it."
Too sticky mats have made it difficult, even with the spatula, to remove the thinner pretty paper for me. I have personally found running fingers over the mat after the above method helps take some of the "too stickiness" away. I suggest you try it and see if it works for you. I have seen many tutorials and heard of many people who use this one. Also, I have seen suggestions to actually wash the mat in warm, soapy water, dry completely, and it helps remove the gunk that stays behind. HTH
I love RobynStamps. I consider her a Cricut expert about anything! I want to also share a video she did that some might find useful. I've used this technique. In this one she DOES NOT suggest the "finger walking". Take a look, see what you think. HTH
I too have had issues with too sticky of a mat. In fact Cricut Dan from Scrapbook Pal Online has a video about running your hands over your mat to prep them. He says that the "dirty mat syndrome" is caused because of not preparing your mats first by playing "pat a cake" with your hands on it. He explains that putting the paper on the mat prior to prepping it, diminshes the life of the mat because it's like "gluing" your paper to the mat. Here's the link... YouTube - Cricut Mat Prep
Thank you so much for posting the info about conditioning the mat. Honestly, why don't the new mats come with this information? It would save a lot of time and frustration, not to mention ripped paper.
I've never had to do anything to my mats they've always been perfect straight out of the pkt, I never use paper though, maybe it's the thickness of your paper of choice?
I think it does. If you are cutting DSP paper, which is much thinner than CS, it (might) tend to stick tight to a really sticky mat. Mine does. And it can be frustrating. Even with the tool.
Now that I've had my cricut awhile (and used the daylights out of some of the mats!), I keep the least sticky mat for DP and the most sticky for the cardstock. I have had one package of super sticky mats and the ones that weren't sticky at all - got the not-sticky ones with my machine. I called Provo Craft and Customer Service said that sometimes it'a a production error that passes through inspection. I rotate my mats, use a lint roller on them to keep the smaller bits (and dog hair) off my them - works well for me.

Ok,
I went out today, bought two new mats. Put in a new blade, just so I could have some play time tonite. All was going well. Didn't cut a ton of stuff, but I was moving right along. Now all of a sudden, the cut isn't going thru the card stock! I tried changing types of paper, changed the speed, the pressure, the setting on the blade, and nothing is working! Any suggestions? If this doesn't improve, you might wanna drive by my house next Weds night when this Cricut is on the tree lawn! ARGGGH!!
Is your blade housing in the correct position in the machine grabber holder (for want of a better word) it's not grabbed in to high, and is the arrow at the front?
My arrow sits at 5 and for thicker card 6 ..... just a thought to check I may be totally wrong.
Okay Ladies here is a lame question for you all.. I have been eyeballing the color Cricut machines at Walmart. Does anyone own this type of cricut? Is it the same as the regular expression??? See I told you it was a lame question...
Also I have searched everywhere for the Aleens Tack it all and have not found it anywhere. Is there something else I could use in the meantime??
The only color Cricut I have seen at Walmart is the red one and that one as far as I know is for cake decorating. I have looked at them lately so they may have new colors out.

I think the colored ones are the same ... not sure though as I don't own one myself. Are you talking about Aleene's Tack It Over and Over? I'm not familiar with Aleene's Tack It All.
