I don't have one. I must be living under a rock or something, I haven't heard of it or the Cricut until about a week ago and now I want them both!

Don't have any of them and although I may want one (just to experiment with and see what it can do for me) I'm not able to get anything like that because of the cost.

Don't have either, although I did look at the Cricut, discussed pros and cons with my wonderful boyfriend. Decided no, not interested. Do have a Sizzix original red machine, several dies, and even an unopened alphabet that I don't use and need to sell. Ahhhhh, maybe I should put that stuff on the buy/sell/trade forum, or is that just for stamps? I'll just stick w/stamps.

Try this website www.customcrops.com It has the cuttlebug and dies and embossing folders at really good prices.

Nope, no Cuttlebug here either. The CB folders that I have work just great in the Sizzix - so I am happy.

I've done it! I don't have a Bug but I do have some embossing folders. I usually use them in my Zip e'mate (works great) but I read you could use them in a pasta maker and curiosity got the better of me. If you clamp your machine right near the edge of the table so the folder has room to come out the bottom without hitting the tabletop it works just fine

I've gotten the Cuttle Bug 'bug' since reading all the posts but really couldn't justify it. I have a Pasta Maker and love to emboss. Think I'll pick up a folder and give it a try.

No 'Bug for me. I don't see the need to get one for myself right now. Frankly, I have no place to put it.

I don't have one, but I wish I did! Maybe for Christmas? I've just been busy spending my money on other things, and keep putting it on the backburner. But I really do want it.

Somebody in another thread said that she uses her rolling pin on the embossing folders and it works well. I just use my red Sizzix machine and it does a great job.

I just tried my pasta maker as well.

Good news: I only used a small CB embossing folder, but it worked beautifully

Bad news: the Fiskars templates are about 1/4" too wide to fit through my machine... Now, if the CB folders are a tiny bit narrower than the Fiskars (which I *think* they are) I can't see why they wouldn't work beautifully also

Apparently you need to spritz your paper with water to make the rolling pin technique work well and you still don't get such a crisp impression (and you have to wait for your embossed piece to dry out - I don't have the patience for that )

Do pasta makers come in different sizes? I guess they probably do. Mine's an Imperia and the larger folders fit through just fine but I don't know whether that make is available in the US.

I don't have one either. I would rather spend the money on stamps, Designer Series Paper, background stamps, etc. I like to create my own accents and don't see where I would use that enough (or for a long enough period of time) to justify the expense.

Would that be the larger CB folders? or also the Fiskars?

Wow! I started this thread on January 1, 2007, and it was fun to see it again! I forgot all about this thread and I have long since been pulled to the dark side. lol Although I did not get a Cuttlebug, I got a Big Kick. I *do* have tons of Cuttlebug embossing folders and dies - thanks to eclectic Paperie!

I just bought a Cuttlebug as my Christmas present from my dad. I got some Cuttlebug embossing folders and dies and the plates too. I got my Cuttlebug at Mike's with the 50% off.

I don't have a CB, though I was looking at it. DH asked me if I'd like one for my b-day so I researched the various machines and told him that the Big Shot was the one I'd like, all the stuff for it was on sale too So, no CB for me am very happy with my Big Shot.

My GF just bought a CB. She, also, like me has a Big Shot. However, she saw a demo of the CB and was sold. She says that the impression from the CB is so much better. She then went to Joann's & purchased one this past weekend. So my question is what does everyone think? I have a few CB dies but I don't own the CB. Is is that much better than the other embossers out there?

I don't have one and despite "wanting" one, I have no plans to get it.

The actual price of the machine is not high- but without buying dies it won't do anything. So now I have to buy a machine, but dies for everything I want to cut, and STORE the machine and dies.

I have stamped for years without one, and I think I can continue to stamp for years without one. My cards aren't as incredible as those who have the tools and talent, but I think they are okay as is.

There's no reason why you would need both the CB and the Big Shot/Big Kick. They do the same thing and take all the same dies. The embossing impression is more about he folder or plate you use and the "sandwich" than the machine. The CB folds more compactly but the the BS/BK is a bit sturdier. Both run about the same price on sale so it's just personal preference.

Okay. So, help me understand what you mean by the "sandwich". Is it that depending on the actual impression folder/plate will determine what the cut will be? So, it would not matter what machine you put the impression/plate through? It only depends on the actual folder.

Both machines come with plates to run through with your dies depending on the size and impression needed. Different dies/plates may also require some "shimming" with cardstock or Ellison has a flip book to take the guess work out of it. Your friend may be talking about he deep impression of the CB embossing folders. They emboss very deeply compared to the Fiskars or Ellison/Sizzix embossing plates but it doesn't matter what machine you use to do it, it's the way the CB embossing folders are designed. Does that make sense?

That makes perfect sense to me. It really just depends on how the embossing folder is designed. If my BigKick does the same with the CB folders then I really don't need the other machine.

I'm not sure if this is going to help but last weekend when Mikes had the 50% off I used it there and only paid 40 bucks. I mainly got it cause I like the embossing folders and I am hoping to build up a nestabilities collection. for 40 bucks I figured that would be a good x-mas present to myself

I don't own a Cuttlebug, Big Shot, or any other embossing/die cutting system. I do own a few CB folders that I run through my heretofore unused pasta machine. I wish I could figure out a way to make my own embossing folder that "nested" ovals or circles or mimicked the look of torn paper to add interest to single layer cards. Nestabilities dies and the Wizard Embossing/Die Cutting machine aren't in my future so I've got to be creative and improvise.

Don't have one, and don't plan to get one. My first blog entry is actually partially about this.

I use the folders in my pasta machine. Works great. I just run the folder through with the paper in it. Flexible. I have even done the the small sizzle dies in it too. It seems I get more use out of my pasta machine than to have all these other machines sitting around.

I don't have one but I do have the original red sizzix machine from a couple of years ago and hardly ever use it. It's too big and bulky for me to keep getting it out. I spent a fortune on all the dies as well. I have bought some of the cuttlebug embossing folders and they emboss just fine in it. I did wonder whether to get rid of it and invest in a CB but I don't really like using die cuts on my cards - I prefer stamping to be honest so I'll probably keep it just in case I ever need to use it.

I don't have a Cuttlebug either. I have the personal Cricut and a Big Shot.
