I was just lucky I already had a cable that would work so I could use it...Because I definately wouldnt have bought one because I have the software with the cable included coming.
Does just a regular usb cord work? I know I have a few of those.
Hi Kathy! You are up late. What time is where you are? It is almost midnight here so I should talk!!!
Its almost 1 I was waiting foe my DD to get home from Babysitting and she got in at 12:30 I was talking to Molly on the other thread and Gale off an on here I was jsut going to shut down and go to bed.

I have one that has various tips on it I bought it when My DD lost hers for her digital camera but The I had to put the part on that works onthe back of the cricut its like a printer port. SO if you have a cable that is USB with your printer and has the same shaped plug on the back you could use it
btw who is my "application publisher"?? The error message says "Contact your application publisher for instructions about obtaining the appropriate version of the .NET framework".
after you load the 3.0 version if you need the other part you can get an update at Microsofts web site if you need it that is where the comupter is looking for it I'm sure
What type of computer do you have? Because it is not a Mac Software? On line for the full version it says XP or Vista
Both time when I downloaded it I was asked if I wanted to download a needed microsoft something or other (sorry I am no help I know) and I just clicked yes.

No, I didn't have any time to actually hook it up to the computer today and tomorrow is going to another busy day. My dh is in the Air force and being deployed on Tuesday so we are frantically getting all his stuff ready and me ready too I guess.
I did however last week rearrange my craft room so that is sit right by my computer! So I am ready!! Now if someone could find me some time!
I'm on dialup. It takes about 10 minutes per mb and the download from the MS site says it is 22.x mb so it would be over 2 hours. The worst part is that it bogs up my connection so I can't do any surfing while it's downloading. So I have to do it during a time when I'm able to be online, yet I'm not trying to look at any websites.
When I try to open the software it shows the exact version but the only version I could find at the MS site was 2.0. The version it gives on the error message is 2.0.50727 so I have no idea if the one on the MS site will even work.

The same thing happened to me the first time I installed it. I just uninstalled it and downloaded it again. The second time I made sure all my other windows were closed. It worked the second time.

Tell your husband and family thanks for serving our country! Is he going anywhere near the war or can you say?
They are on Ebay right now.......I know how a lot of stampers hate that place, but, if you can get it for less, why not? It's not like it's a Stampin' Up! demo thing!!! ;)
I would be really careful that the person you purchase from on ebay is an authorized seller. If they aren't then the warranty will not be valid.
Okay I played with the trial software tonight...Now it only letts you use the cart for the machine you have so thus I used George.
The hardest part was figuring out how you want to load the letters and things so you can weld them ,but alos how not to link them together alot of playing and deleteing everything i did went into this but this is eventually what I designed and cut.
Thanks for sharing Kathy. I am hoping to play with the trial later today. Then I'm sure I will be pushed off that very small space on the fence that I am sitting on. Another thing I said I didn't need/want. Oh well. I have already been imagining the possibilities.

Bump,Bump, Bump...I do think it gives the small bug some of the features of the E bug, I just like that you can mix the carts. I played with adding stuff from other carts and was able to make the MM scallopedcircle into an Oval and Put a J from George inside of it. I know being able to play with all the features of all the carts is going to make me want more carts...Thats for sure:rolleyes:
Sorry! I posted, then it hit me, maybe I should check. So I did and her website said the 17th. I think that is the date that Kim thinks the software will be to her. I think the Paperdolls date was the 1st if that gives you any gauge. Yea! I am so excited I can't handle it.
I dont know but I got a shipping notice yesterday that my order shipped

If you have a cart selected. At the top of the whole screen, click on preferences and then click on My Cartridge. Do this with all the carts you own. Then on the list of carts in the upper left box, you can show only the carts you marked as yours.
As much as I like to be enabled and be an enabler to others, it helped me to not look at other carts too much while playing with the program.
On the other hand, it does really help you see if something you think will work, does work.
Another quick note: The program will not allow the baby bug to cut smaller than 1". There is still a reason to get the eBug.

Did you try that because I was able to make the letters and shapes smaller than an inch in size I didnt try cutting it but I was able to make the #1 about to 1/4 of an inch. The sign feature on george does cut the letters as small as a quarter inch so I know the bug is capable of it.

It wouldn't let me on the screen. I will try it again.
OK, it won't let me default enter the letters that way. It will let me resize and make it smaller. I didn't try and cut it, I am not near my Cricut right now.
I still need the eBug. I need larger stuff too.;)
How is it that every time I type the word bug in my posts I always first, accidentally, type in the word but??? I just posted on another cricut thread saying how I am totally in love with my big but!! Good thing I read it before I hit post!!! Yes, I have a nice tooshie but it doesn't compare to my bug!!
I got my carts today from CX!! I am so excited!!! When I came home from work I had a big package at my front door. I got Makin the Grade, Zoobaloo, & Animal Kingdom. I also purchased the Silent Setter. It was only $4.00! Anyway, I feel like a kid at Christmas! I can't wait to start using my new stuff...It won't be till mid next week b4 I can as I am studying for a final exam that I have to take next Monday. I am one of those older students who went back to school to finish my degree. I am taking College Algebra right now..I am so sick of it!! So wish me luck..after next Wednesday I am going to be taking time off work till after Christmas. I can't wait to be home with my bug....
Good for you for going back to school! Sounds like you have a great reward waiting for you when you're done with your exam!
I can't wait to try out the trial software tomorrow. DH is even excited to check it out. He loves that I am getting all my old (waiting to be done) layouts finished, so I can do some for our now 16 month old. He doesn't have one page done.
Here are the three I did this morning. Love it when the kids play without hurting each other.
I am so glad I got Basecamp. That one has come in handy. I even stamped on a couple of them. That is a big step for me. The baseball bat and background were stamped with the "sanded" BG and the shaped on the Nascar one were stamped with a retired shapes set. I even used my brayer to make the Nascar logo.
Great pages!!!! You did a great job on them!!!! I didn't realize that you'd made the Nascar logo - very cool! I love my basecamp cart too, it's sooo versatile.
I'm on a pc-it's less than a year old and my OS is XP. For some reason the auto update didn't work. I don't have time to dowload the software again tonight-that took a few hours because I couldn't do it all at once. I think they're making it a big pain in the wazoo so I'll just give up and buy the software. LOL.
This is exactly why I'm not downloading the trial software yet. I'm way to computer illiterate to figure it out on my own, LOL! ;) My comp is about 6 or so years old, but I do have XP. It's a decent system, but I don't know any of it's particulars, lol. I'm just going to watch and learn from all of you who have the DS, LOL! ;) But to use it, I'd have to leave my craft room in the basement and haul my bug and carts upstairs. That doesn't sound like fun.

How long is he being deployed for? Do you have family/friends close that can help out while he's away?
Wow, it took me awhile to catch up to you all! ;) I've missed a lot in the past couple of days, lol! We're taking ds to see Santa this afternoon (at dh's kids Christmas party from his union). I'll be able to go downstairs in my craft room later this afternoon/early evening to work on more Christmas projects. It seems like the more I complete, the more I need to start - how is that possible!?! lol
Have a great afternoon ladies, and have fun with your DS! ;)
Hey girls!! My Cricut Elf package is going in the mail today!! So are all my other packages.
Oh fun I cant wait...Idid get onething made for my Elf package, but I am baking Sugar cookies we are going to decorate this afternoon. the Ds's are helping they want to eat the extra dough. Takes for ever when they cut the cookies out they overlap them or put them to far apart...but they are having fun. MY 4 yr old wants to know why a sun cookie cutter isnt for Christmas and Winter after all we have a Star...
Yes, it will cut like it looks on the screen. Yes, you will have to switch cartridges. The software will tell you when you need to make the switch. No the paper doesn't have to be reloaded because you will switch them without turning off the machine. Even though Provo Craft has said in the past to not "hot swap" the cartridges, they have said that it is okay to do with the software.
Thank you! Can't wait to try it when I get a cord!
Need some Paper Doll assistance. I finally got to try it for the first time today (and only one of the handful times on the new ebug, can you believe it?!). I noticed that on the accessories like the unicorn that you can't do a shadow blackout. Or can you and I am missing it? Also, the pictures show the adorable unicorn with several different colors on it. Has everyone been cutting out several unicorns in all the different colors and then cutting the image into smaller pieces and glueing it together to achieve the color combination wanted? It seems a little wasteful on the paper. Just wanted to make sure that was the only way that I could have several colors on an accessory.
good afternoon ladies I hope everyone is chirping today. I don't know who started this thread but it was a fabulous idea. I need just a little help. I had subscribed to the cricut chirp & now aol has somehow blocked it. Can some one give me the addy the exact way it comes from cricut. Also if any one can copy this months chirp & pm it to me I would be in your debt. thanks so much. Just bought some more cartridges I think I am addicted. Also who is Kim you are always talking about that you purchase from. thanks have a pleasant & chirpy day:-D
I just thought of something while playing with the trial program. If you had the full version, you could stretch the scalloped circle to make an oval without the hole you get on other carts.
How exactly does this work along with your cricut? Did you have to buy some special cable or something to attach to you computer? Thanks

I'm still on the fence. That's only because I haven't even had a chance to think about downloading the trial today. It has been a really busy day. My oldest DS had basketball from 11-1 and then my mom stopped over this afternoon to give my older DD her birthday present. She will be 9 on Monday. My mom just left so now I am trying to make dinner and catch up on here at the same time. I will probably wait until tomorrow to play. We are supposed to get freezing rain again. We are under a winter storm watch from tonight through tomorrow night. I think I will be homebound again. Oh well, at least I have an excuse to sit in front of the computer.
I finally successfully downloaded the trial version of the DSS. I have been trying for two days now!! I got it up and running on my laptop in The Pink Loft and it is soooo cool!! I don't know if I can wait to buy this. Who has it in stock? I will be able to do so many neat things with this. The welding feature alone is worth it! I'm so super excited!!!

I am just running the trial program right now. I used my printer USB cable to attach my laptop to my Cricut. In the Mini Monograms cartridge there is a scallop circle. There is a scallop oval on one of the other cartridges, but when you cut it out on the Cricut it makes a small hole in the top of the shape.
With the new Design Studio software you can stretch the characters. You can make them wider or taller than the standard input. So you can stretch the scallop circle to make it taller to look like an oval without the hole in the top.
I really like the stretching capability since the standard square is not always what you want either. Now you can make it a rectangle.
I wasn't able to cut out the oval, as I only have the trial version right now. You can only cut out with the cartridge that came with your Cricut.
I hope that answered your question.
