Okay I guess to correct my statement you CAN do just about anything with this machine. HOWEVER, the cricut website does say not to or rather that you can't. It also sounds like you would have to make sure not to cut anything to big b/c you could go over the mat. Doesn't sound worth it to me. I am sure I would cause more trouble than good! I am a big chicken though when it comes to going out on a limb, afraid I would break something. So I just go by the book. Hence why I have watched most of the videos. Yes, I am more than a bit nerdy.

Quick question - I don't know if this had been mentioned before...

Is Provo going to sell Accent Essentials? Is that one of the ones that came with the Expressions Cricut or is it a "retired" cartridge

Not to enable anyone who may be wanting to use their bug before they are "allowed" to......but......go get a box about the same size, wrap it in the same paper and place it under the tree. Then on Christmas Eve, rewrap your Bug and place it back under the tree. He will never know.

You could make the tree the old fashioned way, with sissors (gasp-I know) and then use the Cricut to make ornaments or garland to spell out words.

If you have Zooballoo you could cut the tall grass and hang it upside down to form the tree in pieces. It looks good in my head, but not sure how it would actually work without a ton of work.

I totally agree with you. I wouldn't risk it. I am a "by the book" person, too. It drives my family crazy. I have seen on Cricut.com where people have done this with the smaller mat. I, myself, have never tried it. The best part about the big bug is that I have all that room to put other scraps of paper!

Either it is a Freudian slip or it is b/c we use the word but so much in sentences, but it is also could be something else!

YEAH!!! NEW STUFF!!!!
Now to start my next wish list. It already has the eBug on it. I could use some letters smaller than 1". I also need the computer program. I need that meld feature. Those will have to wait till tax time though. Along with any new carts that make the list. Considering two weeks ago I had nothing....a baby bug and 6 carts is not too bad right now.
I got my carts today from CX!! I am so excited!!! When I came home from work I had a big package at my front door. I got Makin the Grade, Zoobaloo, & Animal Kingdom. I also purchased the Silent Setter. It was only $4.00! Anyway, I feel like a kid at Christmas! I can't wait to start using my new stuff...It won't be till mid next week b4 I can as I am studying for a final exam that I have to take next Monday. I am one of those older students who went back to school to finish my degree. I am taking College Algebra right now..I am so sick of it!! So wish me luck..after next Wednesday I am going to be taking time off work till after Christmas. I can't wait to be home with my bug....

I'm glad your carts made it. Good luck on your exam. It will feel good when the exam is done to play, knowing you don't have anything else you "have" to do.

Okay, being new to the cricut thing, who should my favorite authorized retailer be? I usually shop on-line. I have a big HONKIN' wish list on the circut web site, which offers 20% off all orders. But I know I can get them cheaper on line. Any suggestions as to an excellent on-line supplier? TIA!

Thanks so much! I know my DH will be glad when this class is over for me. Of course, after this on to Stats. I have been told it is not as taxing as the Coll. Alg. I am so hoping...

Anyway, have fun w/your carts too! I can't wait to see what we create..

Ooh, this is a little tempting because there are some awesome websites out there with great prices, but it would be my luck that the 1 of the 8 they're offering that I really want would be out of stock and I'd be stuck with something I'm not crazy about.

Need more cartridges - heavens no. Want more - for sure. I'll have to go look at the fine detail of the buy 2 get 1 free offer and see if online purchases are OK...

Have a great one...

That's a lot of Christmas trees. That's when the quantity feature comes in handy.

Welcome! I have heard that some people have used the spray adhesive on their mats. I have also read that it will void the warranty so I haven't tried it. I tried chipboard the night I got my ebug, but wasn't very successful. The paper layer on the top kept ripping so I gave up. I haven't had a chance (or need) to try regular chipboard.

I have read on the cricut MB that some people do use them in the ebug. You have to turn the mat sideways (from how it goes in the little bug) so that all of the rollers can grab it. You would probably want to cut in landscape mode if you are using the small mat because there is only 6 inches to feed through. I also read that to make it fit you have to trim down one of leading edges (the margin that you feed into the baby bug first). Clear as mud? I am having a hard time getting it into words.

Exactly! I like using the bigger mat for that reason. I don't really think they are that much more expensive. Here they are only $2 more per pkg. $1 more per mat for a mat twice the size. A lot of people on the cricut MB complain about the 12x12 costing so much more, but I am sticking to the bigger mats.

Be careful. I have read not so great things on the cricut MB about this site. I mostly have heard that shipments take FOREVER. Some people had even stated they were waiting almost a month later. I don't have any personal experience, but wanted to pass this along since most of us are having a hard time waiting for orders we placed less than 2 weeks ago.

Too bad I don't NEED any more cartridges.

Thanks for the info. The free rebate is from a list of 8. YOu have to number the choices from 1-8 and they send as close to your first choice as possible (based on availability). Shipping and handling is $14.95. Still a great deal if you don't already own all of them. The ones to choose from were Tags,Bags, Boxes and More, Stamped, My Community, All Mixed Up, Paper Pups, Going Places, Printing 101 and cursive 101.

I did get it for Christmas- but haven't been permitted to have it yet- this might just be the opportunity to get DH to let me have it!
