Default MIX86 Faux Marble (9/19/14)

Challenge Title: Faux Marble
Hostess: Biggan (Birgit Edblom)
Keyword: MIX86

Hope you all have had a lovely summer, have relaxed and spend time with your loved ones! Fall is here with lovely colors and soon Christmas is here !

My challenge for you this week is to create "Faux Marble", I think its an easy way to create a background paper with texture even if its flat!

Ive done a simple instruction!
You need only watercolor paper, water and any type of ink, like ink spray inks, watercolors, acrylic etc.

Step 1
Spray the watercolor paper with water on both sides.
Step 2
Wrinkle the wet paper and then flatten it out, wrinkle it more if you want more texture
Step3
Spray or color it in any way while it still wet
Step4
When the paper is dry, add some darker color the the wrinkles with a blending tool and glue the paper on a cardstock or a heavier paper to give it more stability.
Step5
Use it as a background or for a die or both!

We hope you find these challenges inspiring and bring out your creativity! I hope you find this challenge easy and FUN!

This sounds so interesting, Birgit - I hope I get time to try it this afternoon.

Fun and terrific technique, Bridget. I used a regular household iron to help flatten my watercolor paper when I was done. Thanks for the MIX challenge.

Our internet died so I'm a little late. Strangely, it's working now even though the tech hasn't been here yet.

Here's mine. It's been pouring rain most of the day so hard to get a photo that shows the sparkle from the Stickles. So happy with how this turned out - I've bought paper that looked like this! And I've crumpled and inked regular paper for distressing, but never thought to try it with wet watercolour paper before. Thanks for such a fun challenge.

Birgit, this was fun to do! Thank you! I have never crumpled up paper to then add watercolor paint afterward!

I still have more of this fun paper to use up!
