Gayla, are you coming with any of your ladies from up north? Just thought I would check.
Well, I am representing that crew, but I don't think Gayla and Nancy are going to make it this time. I am still ok with 16 kits. Whew!
Chris - we took your way through PA past DC - worked like a charm! Also helped us miss most of the rain that day.

So, I just googled directions. Google says 3:44 to get there and a way I've never gone before but I think its because you are north or Raleigh. I think I am going to try them...if it doesn't work I'll try 85 and 40.
Andi--I might be taking you up on a place to stay. I will play it by ear if it is okay with you? Bring a bag and see if I feel like staying.
The zoo is 2 hours aways :( Very sad.
My card is definately designed!

Alright folks, I just added up the level of stamper attending the shoe box swap. On a level of 1 being inexperienced, to 10 very good stamper the average is 7.25!
Doing a direction search on Google shows the house close to Cross Creek Rd, but we are between Cross Creek and Southerland Pond (which you can't see from the road really). So you will be looking for the big white house on the hill with a long white fence between the bridge for the creek/river and Cross Creek Rd. It is the only thing on the West side of the road.
All sheets were washed and made for guests in the event you want to come Friday night. 4 bunk beds, hide-a-bed, one queen, and two couches available, as well as three queen air matresses.

I am looking for a tutorial I've viewed recently. It is using a cuttlebug, sizzix or provo craft embossing/texture folders and spellbinder or nestie dies. It cut the designs out of the nestie/spellbinders then put the embossing/texture folders with the nestie/spell... through & it left an empty/unembossed space on the paper. I think it was a youtube tut, but I can't find it anywhere. I'm probably just not using the right words to search for it. If any of you know who's it is or have a link to it, PLEASE pass it on.
Thanks so much

I miss going to Hobby Lobby. That was my favorite "chain" store for crafting. They don't have them much on the East Coast. A lot of folks here like Jo Ann Fabrics section of papercrafting items. I have been a stampin up addict for 16 years now.

The ladies on SCS are the absolute bomb. Several have posted sites that are just great. I have found, through one of the great ladies on SCS, the one I was looking for.
If anyone would like the link, just pm me & I'll send it to you.
Thanks again to all those who have responded.

Never fear, hobby lobby is coming. There is at least one in NY. Seems like they must be expanding...

There are a few in NC - closest is probably Fayetteville. Quite a long ways though.
There's also one in Burlington, but I'm not sure which may be closer. Our store opened just during the spring or summer last year. It is nice and stays well stocked.

Meant to ask, how is the snow situation in NC? Hopefully all will be running well again by next weekend.

They ar calling for temps in the mid-40's next week. They called schools in many systems in the area, but the roads were in decent condition when DH came home form the 911 center tonight. They might get slick tonight since it is below 25F at 6pm. But I think the lows for the rest of the week are to be in the mid 20's. I also think it is to be sunny most days as well so that will help clear the roads up. I'm really looking forward to seeing all you ladies on Saturday so I'm not going to allow the weather to hold us off. LOL

Just saw the news and now they are calling for something like 38F with 50% chance of precip on Saturday. Sorry for the change - I was not asked for my permission for it to change.

ack! We're iced in still! They haven't plowed or gone down our street at all! It's one huge ice rink out there! :( No school = no trip to Michaels for me! :( Also means, no stamping at my buddy Lori's house...unless I find a way out by tommorrow morning...I did used to hike as a kid... ;):p
I'm so excited for this weekend. I hope the weather cooperates.
I so need this time away!
Donna,
We are so excited about it as well, but worried about what Mother Nature has in store for us. But I guess there'll be a decision made on Thursday or Friday.
So we have 3 days and a wake up to wait to meet eachother.:-D:-D

We are still iced in here too BUT it is raining today so hopefully that will get rid of some of the snow and ice! We have NOT seen a plow down our road YET! No school again for the kids...which my son does not mind..lol
They are calling for some MORE snow Fri/Sat so I'm not sure how this is going to affect the swap? Andi can you chime in here for us?
I've been looking forward to this for awhile now and looks like Mother Nature may RUIN things for us :(

I do not have a link but I can teach you how to do it at the get together. I will bring some stuff.
I am sure this is posted somewhere but how detailed do the cards need to be? I am a ssuming a few layers, stamped image and an embellishment or two?
Also, can I get the directions emailed again the link to the map did not work for me. I a macoming from Wilmington if anyone needs a ride.
I refuse to let the weather mess us up. So every say a large PRAYER and then stand outside and blow hard towards WVA to allow the low to come through Charlotte and give us only rain. Oh I forgot about those who may be coming from north of us or from the west of us. So here's what we need to do. Everyone go outside and blow northwest.

Lets add the two new folks in if they want to join!
Whoever made only 16 swaps you may want to bump it up a couple.
As for weather, I will plan on having the swap whether or not there is some snow. UNLESS it is blizzard conditions. I saw on the weather forcast a chance of snow/rain showers. My mother in law that lives at the house said the forcast isn't for accumulation. It doesn't look too cold though overall. I come from a place where there is REALLY bad weather, so for me snow is nothing. Everyone can make a judgement call.
I will be going down to the house on Thursday from Boston. So anyone who wants to come over on Friday is welcome.

I do have a back-up plan for more people. It would just mean slightly different colored cardstock.

And Andi, we are driving north to go home anyway, so I will definitely be there unless the roads are impassible.
