no plans here (taking care of husband (sick with cancer). I can try and make some swaps while he is sleeping. But other than that nothing planned here. Just waiting for Pigeon Forge.
Good evening ladies, I just spoke to Ellen and we felt we should throw some information your way.
I have just confirmed that the Church of God YOUTH RETREAT (Winter Fest) will be taking place the same weekend we are there. My sister goes to a Church of God and we were able to confirm this with the District Youth Pastor. What this means is that there will be close to 15,000 to 20,000 youth taking over the hotels and conference center in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. I have been to one of these retreats before and getting into a resturant has been an ordeal. The wait to eat could be hours.
Let's think is this what we want or do we want to look at another date? Let's hear some feed back.
Is the youth retreat in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge? We could choose the other. It's not like the two are in walking distance. You have to drive from Gatlinburg to Pigeon Forge and vise versa. I will go with the majority
They have hotels in both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, they are about 15 to 20 minutes apart, Sevierville, The hotels are hosting the church events duing the day so that is why the rooms are more expensive and the meeting rooms are hard to come by.

Good morning Sherri. Thanks for all of your work on this. I am for moving to February.. Can we look at Presidents day weekend where many of us will have a long holiday weekend anyway? That should be end of Feb somewhere. I definitely dont want to compete for restaurants and space with 20,000 teens. We are going to get AWAY from the mob for a weedend.
If that does not work out, I still like Feb if possible. I think we will have more space that month than March. Also, will the scrap store still have make and take for us on another weekend?
The scrapbook store will work with us I just need to let her know when we are coming. I spoke to them last evening and they were more than willing to work with us.
That should be okay with me, as long as it is not around the 20th, will be okay, hubby might get a little mad at me if it is on our anniversary. We didn't get to celebrate this last year, couldn't even have flowers since I was neutropinic from my chemo and hospital would not even let me have flowers!!!
i am open to any weekend so far, just let me know what you ladies decide. I dont think I want to be around a bunch of teens myself and your right it was a weekend to get away from the mob. LOL. So just keep me informed of which weekend.
Well ladies I am official dead tired. :-| This was the first time I was able to clean after my surgery and I am beat. Checking in real quick to say that I will contact the hotel on Tuesday (because of the holiday) and get everything written up and posted by next weekend. I have to give myself some time to get all the details ironed out. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend.
Just name the date and time and this ole girl from Murvil will be there with bells on:mrgreen:...actually most likely tie dye but...hey! I will be there!!!

I just told my husband about this may be a possible weekend. He brought up that this could also be a BUSY weekend. Alot of people getting married, coming up for a Valentines Get Away. Etc. So we may need to think about that also.???? We did go up there once during Valentines weekend. It was crowded. But anyway that is just my thoughts. Others may disagree. Good point, I will talk to the girl at the hotel and see what she thinks, she is the one who told me about the youth group out of kindness and I did research on my own but I will see what she says about that weekend and let everyone know. At least we are starting early enough to get all this out of the way. Any other ideas or comments are greatly appreciated.
Your right Sherri, we have some time to get it all together. I didnt think about it. My husband is the one that said something. LOL. But anyway I want to thank you for your hard work with this. If there is anything I could do just let me know.
How about a different weekend in March. February weather is unpredictable there and Valentine's weekend is usually VERY busy with all of the chapels and everything in the area!!

Sherri is checking. It seems March is a big convention month there due to the cheaper rates. We may just have to go with the lesser of two evils. She should know something by next week.

LONG STORY LOL. I will tell you when I have time. (GA) is the place though. sorry about your little one being sick. yukky. thats no fun. LOL on the 20yr old saying that she never gets told anything. I am super busy trying to tie up all loose ends before I leave on Thursday for Sara's surgery. Please work with her and Sherri, whatever you decide is fine with me. Good morning Ladies, left a message for the events coordinator to call me she was in meetings all day but called on her lunch to say she would check everything out and let me know today what she thought would be best. Once I know I will post the date and we will go from there. I also spoke to another events coordinator, (the hotel the church uses) and they are also going to contact me. Will know something soon.
