OK, I called several places and I think this one will meet our needs. They have a large conference room, breakfast, etc. Also, anyone who wants to just go Motel 6 or something cheap, these are all right together on the shopping strip. The group sales person is to call me on Monday. I am looking at the weekend of March 6-8. So go ahead and look at this and see what you think. I will see what kind of a group deal I can get if any and what they will charge for the conference room. I think we will just get if for the full day Saturday. Friday night and Sunday am can be fellowship times or in room smaller groups.
Please give me your feedback. I think at approx 90.00 per night per room for 2 Queens, small fridge, microwave, breakfast bar divided by 2-4 people would be very affordable. I will get a price on the day room and we will decide how much per person based on total sign up as we get closer. I doubt it would be more than 100.00 for one day. This is their slow season so we will be able to get anyone in who wants to come.
Soon Ellen we can put that we are vacation bound sister with a plan.
More information would be helpful on the sign up for the shoe box swap. Especially themes of some sort so people know what they are getting into and very detailed instructions to what a shoe box swap is. If you don't mind.

Note the new title! Also added ALL WELCOME as I do not want anyone to think we are a sorority of people who already know each other.
I have asked Softangelkisses to elaborate on the swaps for us. Keep posted for updates.
We decided on March 7? This will work out great! Right before all my the craziness of children's b-day's. I am going to put this in my husbands palm right now.

Actually, I just decided to pick one since I have to have something to work with when I talk to the hotel. I realize some wont be able to work it in and I pray for nice traveling weather, but that is out of my control.
It snowed on us the last time we went at the end of February, but it really didn't effect the main part of town, just getting to the cabins up in the mountains was a little tricky. So unless it snows alot, should cause any problems.
Can't wait to meet all of you guys and can't wait to get back to Pigeon Forge, it is truely one of my favorite places to go, and I know of several great resturants that are out of this world!!!! Oh, and if anyone didn't see earlier, they have a HUGE scrapbook store there, that well, is awesome!!!! Plus, the have a seperate clearance store that has some pretty great deals!!!
Glad you picked the weekend in March, that way I know for sure I will be able to come (health and lord willing that is).

I just now discovered this thread. Whoo-hoo! I live in this county, about 15 miles from PF.
In case the Country Inn doesn't work out, another motel you might be interested in checking out for the large room is the
Norma Dan Motel www.normadanmotel.com
It is on the strip, across from Dixie Stampede.
We have a Deaf Womens of the Word retreat there every spring, 64 women 2 years ago, 89 women last year, all coming from surrounding states. Breakfast included in room cost. Many round tables in the conf. room. It also has a small kitchen. Each room has its own fridge and coffee maker.
Very nice owner, not a typical motel chain.

I am going to have all of that up and ready to go tomorrow!

Thanks for the info. Will you be a sleep over or a day sign up?
March 7th is the date for sure? That is a Saturday. No one coming on Friday? I'd rather not share with my friends until everything is for sure. I am getting excited. It will be here before you know it.

OK, sorry!!!! Clarification **** March 6-8, Friday afternoon (or whenever you arrive) through Sunday or whenever you leave I was talking about the day room just getting the day room for Saturday. I dont want to pay for it for 3 days, unless everyone wants us to do that. I figured we could get to know each other Friday, shop, eat of course and sort of do small group get to know you kind of stuff. Saturday all day offering the room activities. Sunday kind of wind down and small groups again.

This plan sound great. I think one day for the day room unless they give you a special price for Friday evening and all day Saturday. I am going to check with my parents because they stay in Gatlinburg every year with their church group and they get the conference room for free with a guarantee of so many booked room, when you call ask them that.

Sherri
Yes, that is on my list to negotiate. Dont forget, this is their very slow season, we are in the position to negotiate because they will be empty otherwise.
WOW...you girls were on the ball this weekend weren't you?!?!?!?! March 6-8 sounds good to me...now I have to see if DF wants to keep DS or if he will want me to bring him with me.......

Well, little Lee is welcome, but you are also entitled to a weekend without two men attached to you "somewhere"
Add me to the 6x6 scrapbook page. I will have to see the themes before I do a shoebox. I am soooo excited. I haven't done a get-away in quite some time now. I guess it would have to be 2 years. Wow, how the time flies.
This sounds like so much fun. We have a timeshare between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and we usually go around that time. I will have to talk super sweet to dh and tell him we really need to go on these days! LOL!

Great, do you want me to log you as a tentative day attendee?
"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."
I was hoping to be Ellen's shadow too because I really wanted to get to know her (my mother is my shadow) and I know her and Sherri have been chatting a lot so we all need to be her shadow. That's 3 and you make 4 we can help you with DS if needed. Sara makes 5. Ellen Can you handle that?

Great! Sounds like a ball and chain gang LOL
So you all want to be signed up for the swaps? I am going to sign up for two so Sara can do one of mine. She currently has not stamping history, but I am making her a starter "set" of stuff for BD and Christmas.

Correct. You precut all of the stuff, I think I will put mine in baggies so I can be sure I have all I need and each person can just pluck one out and work on it. Mary will let us know how many need to be made. I think we should keep the groups under 20 and just make more groups if needed. Otherwise, holy cow!

I did that for the last day shoebox that I attended. It worked GREAT! Everything was in the baggie ready for them to use it. I did a baggie of extra supplies for each component just incase a mistake that couldn't be correct was made.
I like 20 to a group. Very easy to prepare. Just my 2 cents.
