My mom and I were looking at the catty this weekend and we both thought the gnomes were a little creepy. We also thought that one of them (the one sitting on the 'shroom reading, I think) looked like it had gigantic boobs! Alas, they were just gnome gnees!
I love the gnomes!! Like Debbie, I have them in my yard and have several books on them. I also collect Smithshire Gnome figurines. I've loved gnomes since I was little. My favorite is the one reading the book. I'm a major bookworm and felt like this image was custom made just for me.
Someone earlier said something about gnomes being like trolls - that's so unfair! Gnomes are good!
Here is a little gnome trivia:
Gnomes work by night in the woods or live in barns. Their main goal is to preserve nature. There are many type of gnomes but the woodland gnome is the most common. They can live to be around 400 years old. They can smell about 19 times better than a human. Their cap, which is distint to each gnome, is functional in that it protects them from falling limbs and aggressive animals. Gnome couples always have twins. And, gnomes rub noses in saying hello and goodbye to each other. Gnomes are busy workers, they like to do wordworking (they build cool homes for their families underground). They also make birdhouses. They like ceramics, metalworking, and clothmaking. (They may even like to make cards-who knows!)
These are just a few facts about gnomes - maybe now that you know more about them you won't be afraid of them!

So here's what I want to know......do you get the gnomes so you can scrap your vacation that you book with Travelosity (spelled intentionally incorrectly so this site doesn't come up when that word is googled)?

I know they are just pretend but the way they look scares me
I like the gnomes too, but not enough to buy them. If you want creepy, take a look at the new set of mice. I love housemouse, and those things in the catty are rats, not mice!

You may think I'm weird, but I can totally see using the gnomes for Christmas cards (as elves). I can totally imagine masking the one with the mushroom to have him sitting on a present, or changing the one carrying the flower to have him carrying a toy....

Okay, the gnomes are cute, but in a weird creepy way...does that make sense? I don't think I would order the set though. And those Children, yikes!! My daughter has always been freaked out by them!!
I don't like the gnomes at all, and I was a little disppointed because I love the other stamps from that artist. I love the Magic and Wonder and the Rhyme Time stamp sets from the last catalog and they're in the same style. But I really don't like the gnomes at all, they totally creep me out!
I almost cried when I saw this...I was laughing so hard.
I really would like to know how those awful Charming Children of the Corn stayed in the CATTY!!!
I LOL so hard about the comment about the girl that looked like she was waving saying yeah that was me that farted....LOL!
Yes, you definitely need help! I see your a fellow Cincinnatian...pop on over to my house for some gnome therapy. I'll have you lovin' gnomes in no time!

Clowns give me the creeps too....not sure why...repressed memory maybe?
Gnomes are okay but don't do much for me. But TROLLS on the other hand are da bomb. I still have my troll collection from when I was a kid! Wonder what troll stamps would look like? Maybe we should not go there......

And thank God this one didn't make it into the catalog ... remember the clown from a few mini cattys back? Talk about CREEPY!!!!!!!!! (Shiver!)
Ohh I remember that set, VERY CREEPY INDEED!! Everytime I saw it I thought of the Stephen King movie IT :p
The gnomes are just plain scary. They rate right up there with the scary Charming Children. I think it was some sort of error that they made it into the new catalog. That or the artist is related to Shelli.
In my opinion the gnomes are way better than the "Charming Children" set, now those are wierd!
I agree. Those creepy kids just weird me out! But I love those Gnomes.
