Wow, it's great to see how many of us are playing this year, I learned a lot from last years challenge.
1. Make sure your cards fit envelopes that can be bought ie; C6 or DL (these are the post office prefered sizes too, in Australia) it is so time consumming to have to make the envelopes as well.
2. Completely finish your card with your insert and or inside greeting
3. Make sure you sign the back of your card (I'm going to try and do all of this before I upload)
4. Limit the embellishments if you are posting your cards. I love bows buttons and bling but it can become quite expensive to post these cards.
5. The most important of all is have fun, fun, fun but don't backlog I just never cought up and didn't get Octobers or Novembers done.
Cheers
This is also my goal in 2013! I had around 60 cards to make insides and to choose who was getting what card because I made so many different ones.
Lesson learned. I get restless creating the same card so I make a lot of different ones but I am going to make 2 changes:
1) inside must be made at same time. (I am trying to do that for ALL the cards I create...I am on a DT too..and sometimes I just rush from one project to another. INSIDE must be done !)
2) I am going to put a note paper inside Christmas box and write who I am thinking that card is for right now. OF course I might change it, Will do a lot of Nov. cards that are special etc....but I can at least START a bit of a list.
3) I need a nativity stamp. I Love to make ALL kinds of Christmas cards but I would like a few more Nativity themed ones for 2013....so I am on the look out for a stamp that moves me!!!
Kind of proud of me! I made my first Christmas card today...and I made the inside...and put the name of who I think it's going to go to on a piece of paper in the box!
i'd like to play too!! i send out about 125 photo-cards a year and am on the fence about doing handmade this year. but i figure if i have them made then at least i will have the option!!
let's see... that means i need to make 12 cards a month (jan-nov) so i can get my cards out on time.
Location: Hoping to be hiding out in my crafting room!!!

Gosh, I did this several years ago and it was so helpful--and I realized it when I was struggling to get my cards done and in the mail on December 22! Ha! But, with little sleep, I was able to get them done!
I typically do all the same design for everyone on my list so I hope that's okay. Between my cards for the mail, gift card holders and gift tags, I need to do 10 items a month. So, I'd like to join, please.
Hi. I would like to join too please. I am TERRIBLE about getting any cards in the mail, and want to do better this year! So, let's start with 4 per month. Can they be tags/gift card holders too? I'm excited to get started!
Can't wait to see what you come up with, Connie. I know it will be fabulous.
I'm having so much fun getting my cards done, I'm probably going to work on my quilt one tomorrow night since my girls have a few friends coming over for a sleepover so they will be busy as I will be busy too.
I do end up sending out handmade cards every year but it is a mad dash come Nov./Dec. I'd like to motivate myself to get them done earlier this year. I'll sign up for 4 cards per month.
Do we have to make all the cards according to month challenge?? or can we we just post what ever we made? Just asking as I never been good in stick to the rule person , I always create according to my ...... mood, or my theme of a day ..... or just because papers looks good together ;)
Well, you see.... I have been horrible at putting stuff away when I came home from crops and retreats it got so bad that I could not find anything and suddenly nothing had a home or lived in its home in my craft room any more. It was easier to go quilt than to find anything in my craft room. A girlfriend came over the day after Thanksgiving and helped me clear a path and got me started reorganizing. I found 19 half finished Christmas cards and got them finished yesterday! And I found my perpetual calendar so I can update it and have it handy to know what I need to the AOCC.
August challenge is updated... We're going monochrome!!! :-D
I love Monochromatic....
I had gotten a card back in 2005 (before I was really into all this card making stuff) I loved it, it had a manly look yet it was so pretty! I gushed over everytime I chatted with the sender, she said it was M.
Always Artichoke, Sahara Sand and Old Olive
So I asked more about that M. then I got into only that kind of card ...pinks, blues and greens were the only thing I used for almost a year! Terrible I know!!!
Wish I had kept pics of some of them.
Augusts Birth Stone is the Peridot (pale green) in case anyone wants to know
the most common color for a August Wedding is shades of Yellow or Orange
I did get my 4 cards per month done but didn't get them uploaded. I am tickled pink (well, red) that I had too many. It sure does take the yug outta sending cards. haha Now its fun and I look forward to sending them.
Well now I'm confused Debbie, are you saying that, as Angie thought, that the challenges are for inspiration for our monthly cards, not an extra as I thought.?
If you are all caught up and have no problems with your creative juices it's an extra card (or more if you choose )
or if you are stuck on what you should make for a month, then it's an 'unblocker'
Please add my name for 4 per month. I hope to make more so that I have them available for a couple of craft fairs in October and November. This is my first time to sign up for Christmas.
I couldn't seem to get a grip on your ID name...then I got it! Too cute!!!
a lady that I worked with didn't have email and her dd made one for her, she said what do you want for a user name?
her mom said "I don't know, my minds a blank"
the dd took that as ' my minds a blank" was her answer!
that's cute too!
I would like to join in this challenge as I always make at least 50 Christmas cards after I make all the cards for the HYCCT each year. Val (Greywolf) suggested that I give this a shot. Just don't know how to start. I would like to make 10 a month if that counts.
10 MONTH WOW!
that will give you 110 by November! Uff Da! But you do share with HYCCT,
I'm signing up for my 4th year. The first year I wasn't too good about getting all the months completed but then the 2nd year I completed all 10 cards per month and this year I completed 8 cards per month for the full 11 months. This has been a real blessing as I enjoy working on Christmas cards. Really have enjoyed having so many different designs for the year. Thank you!
Could you please sign me up for 3 a month? I'm not good at posting what I've done, but it should at least help with the December rush next year. Also...what a wonderful way to keep the spirit of Christmas in our hearts throughout the entire year.
Not showing them is okay since there's no score keeping, getting the lovin's is what posting is for!
I'm brand new here so I'm hoping I can join the challenge. What a great idea! Here it is December 6th and I haven't even started my cards for this year. spreading it out over the months will make this time of year so much less stressful. I guess the first think I have to do is set up a gallery and then I have to figure out how to post pictures. Oh well, at least I have to the end of January for that. I'm really looking forward to this!!!
Ditto on all of what you've heard already! LOL
I have a step by step tutorial on the first post for uploading too
Well, I just addressed all of my cards and am a few short, so I need to do 10/month to make sure I have enough.
Theme: I did snowman in 2011 and ornaments in 2012. I can't decide between deer (like Dasher) for the year, or trees. I'll try to find time to play with both this month and see which speaks to me.
Just so you know, I put on the challenge for July. Seems like we have a lot of people really getting ahead! LOL I haven't even begun this month's yet..
I joined the CCC12 in Jan 12 to make 20 cards a month. Our mailing list was 200+ strong. Well, my hp computer died and my new computer is an apple. My mailing list was lost and I had to reconstruct from an old printout. Some people moved, died, and etc... so my list is just under 200 now. Joining the challenge was the best thing ever! I didn't know what to do with myself after Thanksgiving because all my cards were made! I actually got a chance to see my family. In past years I would be in my craft room making cards as cards came in. I refused to buy any.
Thank you so much Christmas Card Challenge Team! You are the BEST!
I had to baby roof my house, and since we never have company i had taken over the living room as my craft area, well DD and DS2 were coming home for Christmas and Carrie was bringing the grand-baby! No crafting at all for me all of December
wow....I better get off my slackers booty and get y'all accounted for....lots more players...YIPPEE!!! gonna be another fun year....so glad to see ya....
I was so worried about going over my internet usage again and I knew Carrie would want to Skype with her hubby while she was here with the baby... I avoided the internet most of December.
Plus I really had to work on baby proofing.. I didn't do so hot on the one at all! Man can he find things to get into. I tried hard to upload a video on my blog of his first steps! I got to see them before his mom and dad! WooWhoo
Only 2 steps, but still! Since they've been home he is now really walking!
I had no idea there were so many different sizes out there! Here is in the US the common is an A2 (fits the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cards) what isC6 & DL dimensions?
2. Completely finish your card with your insert and or inside greetingMaybe a card isn't complete till the innards are in? LOL
3. Make sure you sign the back of your card (I'm going to try and do all of this before I upload) I do not do this every year I tell myself to do it, and I have such wonderful intentions of buying one of those cool personalized stamps
4. Limit the embellishments if you are posting your cards. I love bows buttons and bling but it can become quite expensive to post these cards. Oh, and how! 5. The most important of all is have fun, fun, fun but don't backlog I just never cought up and didn't get Octobers or Novembers done.
oh boy....some more newbies to get addicted....teehee....so glad to see y'all...
Marg...great list...#2 is my personal goal for this yr...2012 was the first yr I did this and I was just so darn excited to be getting mine done that I left that for last and it was a pain....
Just to let all know, VikkiJo is healthy, just got a lot going on at home....
Serious understatement!
Water has been froze every day last month (no biggy takes 5 minutes to thaw out)
Kids came home the 21st, for 10 days
oldest Carrie
her baby MJ
youngest Andy
then my middle Child Joe who lives 30 miles from here got into a drama lovin' gf vs sister argument
then Joe's car broke down so i gave his gf a ride to work twice, my car broke down the 3rd trip.
grrr
that was Christmas Eve, fixed mine the Wednesday after,
went to town... tranny went out
grrrr
Josh (step son) gave the kids a ride to the airport new years Eve.
We got back here and the water froze again... got that going and I could hear something like water running. Sure enough the water line burst somewhere inside the floor under the bathroom
ugh!
I had no clue which breaker was for the water pump so I flipped all of them
somehow that did something to our furnace! it would not come back on when I got the breakers figured out
Well that was New Years Eve so there was no one to call
Oh have I mentioned Verizon internet is too expensive? It is not unlimited so gallery gazing and skyping with MJ kept putting me over, that's $100 more a month.
No more surgeries planned..but I have an appt for an EMG this week.
