Title: Tin Ceilings Hostess: peeps321 (Polly) Keyword:MIX317
Sometimes even the mostly unlikely places are a great source of inspiration. I have a relative who has one of those patterned, embossed ceilings in her kitchen. It made me think of those great tin ceilings in older homes or Victorian buildings. A tin ceiling is described as an architectural element, consisting of a ceiling finished with plates of tin with designs pressed into them.
Challenge: Use a tin ceiling as your inspiration. That might mean using embossed metal of some sort or foil run through your embossing machine. You can create a faux look with a mirrored paper and then wet embossed with the same color embossing powder. Draw inspiration from one of the attached photos or try one of these techniques:
Thanks for the photos, I've always been intrigued by the concept but never got round to looking them up. I do like the faux tin tile ef but might not run to enough time for it today. I just tried the tarnished foil a couple of weeks back. I'll do my best to fit something in after work, but it might be tomorrow. What a shame I have to work today with all that inspiration.
I think there's a bit of all sorts of things on this: MIX317 Flowers on the Ceiling , DOX, Brushos, acrylics, Yupo, metallic rub-ons...all scraps from my boxes, except for the tin tile panel which I started before work.
Thank you Polly for this wonderful challenge. I have to laugh because I googled tin tiles, all my ads now are for tin tiles and that is not a bad thing. Pretty inspiration.
WOW Just got back from Book Club (volunteering at elementary school)...and took a look at the gallery. You guys are knocking it out of the park!! I wasn't sure when I came up with this challenge how it would go over...I thought maybe it's too out there. I'm happy you guys are having fun with this. It's really cool to see how everyone is interpreting the theme...there's quite a variety in the gallery .;)
