 | | For this week's Tea Party we are making weird and funny cards for our own Ann (jdmommy). This was such a fun challenge that it inspired me to make two cards. This is the first one.
A while back, a fellow Tea Potter sent me some humorous sentiments in our monthly card exchange, and this challenge seemed like the perfect opportunity to use them. When I tried pairing them with some of the more surreal images in my collection, I fell in love with the combination of this sentiment and the royal monkey. Doesn't she look like she's about to say "We are not amused"?
The actual construction of the card was pretty straightforward. I cut out the monkey image and backed her with a slightly larger piece of metallic blue cardstock. Then I searched through my blue papers until I found this diamond pattern. It has a slight sparkle in real life and seemed appropriately regal.
I backed the diamond patterned paper with a slightly larger piece of the metallic blue cardstock, before adhering the whole thing to a white card base.
Lastly, I added the sentiment. It had space for a couple of embellishments, so I glued down two pearls to match the pearls on the monkey's outfit.
Ann has such a wonderful sense of humor, and her cards always make me smile. I'm glad that we have an opportunity to lift her spirits, as she has lifted ours over the years.
