This card was made for a challenge whose theme was "beach days".

I haven't used the two retired 2003/2004 Stampin' Up! (SU) stamp sets for years, but when I saw the theme, they popped immediately to mind! I started by stamping the images in black ink, then hand colored them with Copic markers. I wanted to scan them into my ScanNCut digital cutting machine so that I wouldn't have to fussy cut them by hand. But, because there are breaks in the lines forming the outside edge of the stamped images, the scanner can't find the shape unless you pencil in over the gaps to give it a continuous line to scan. This was easy to do, and the scans were perfect! I set the machine to leave a 0.04" outline order when it cut them out.

For the card base I used 110 lb white cardstock. The main background is a piece of light blue shimmer cardstock that I ran through my Big Shot inside the SU "Seaside" embossing folder. The copper shimmery cardstock was run through inside the SU "Subtle" folder.

The three hand-colored images were backed with foam tape and attached to the card front. The sentiment was from the "Summer by the Sea" set. It was stamped with black ink, then die cut using the SU "Stitched Nested Labels" dies. Because the dies were longer than the label required, after die cutting the sentiment, I slid the same die down slightly and ran only the bottom of the sentiment with it's newly positioned die through the Big Shot... do NOT run the entire sentiment piece through the machine!!! I made the dark blue mat for the sentiment piece the same way.

I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5" because of all the steps and the need to either digitally or manually cut out the stamped images.

Lovely restful card....relaxing images to enjoy the seaside. Great embossed BG to represent your water...love the soft coloring.
