I thought of his "The Nightingale" story where a Chinese emperor prefers the song of a mechanical bird to the song of the real nightingale. The nightingale is known for its powerful and beautiful song.
I don't have any nightingale images, but I know they are relatively small birds...so I used a PowerPoppy chickadee digi image and used watercolors to color it. Afraid the chickadee's chirping doesn't compare to the nightingale's song. ; )

A no line painting done from a digi! Didn't even think that was possible and what is your secret, Sallie? Do you spray it before painting it? Just amazing and the results are just gorgeous. There is a soft spot in my heart for these birds so these really tugged at it! Love the soft look of the watercolor.

Absolutely beautiful. I know your chickadees are related to the European tits, in which case they are probably not the most musical of birds, but no hardship to listen to. And your card is a delight to the eyes.
