Just Add Ink Color Challenge #332: http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/ required the use of Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Daffodile Delight, and Blushing Bride (I don't own that color, so substituted SU Pretty in Pink).
I had seen Barbara Joye's lovely card on Pinterest (https://goo.gl/5QL3Gu) that had the envelope layout, so used her card as inspiration. Her card had such lovely colors, but I felt this week's challenge colors could work, too.
The card base is Basic Black with an light pattern Pumpkin Pie designer paper from SU's retired Sweet Pea pack.
I created the "envelope" panel by cutting a Whisper White panel 5.25" x 4", then lightly penciled a mark for cutting on one of the short sides at 2.5", and 2.25" on the other. I eyeballed where they would intersect to create a roughly 110 degree angle and cut from each side to that point which was about 3.25" from the panel top. Using the scalloped edgelits, I die cut the scalloped edge along both angled edges, the used a piercing tool and template to added "dots" along the scallops. This panel was then glued on top of the orange DSP.
The floral bunch was a real head-scratcher since in my mind the three colors (yellow, orange, pink) really aren't my type of floral combo,,, but I persevered with a "fall" floral arrangement in mind (yellowed grass, orange mums, and pink asters). These were arranged using Mini Glue Dots, and in some cases Stampin' Dimensional foam dots to add depth.
The sentiment was added on a slant from the SU Petite Pears stamp set.
Overall the card wasn't difficult to make, but required some time due to all the stamping and die cutting. I like the sketch, and will definitely do this one again with a different color combo. But it was fun to come up with and I'll definitely send it to one of my friends who have a fall birthday.
