This is my card for CC597. Vicki is our hostess with a great color trio of tempting turquoise, real red and emerald envy. Dessert this week is birds.
These colors just seemed like a good trio for Christmas. So that's where I went with my creative process. I wanted a different background -something that I don't usually do. So I searched the SCS tutorials and found one for a faux Mother of Pearl. Here is the link.
I used a white pearl metallic acrylic paint. Sponged that on with some saran wrap and let it dry. I used tempting turquoise and sponged it over the paint, which acts as a resist. I was happy with how it turned out. It sort of reminded me of a snow squall. I popped this panel up for some dimension.
The Cardinals and Birdhouse dies are from CottageCutz and part of the Christmas 2016 release. I cut the birdhouse in emerald envy cardstock and then cut the background panel in emerald envy and also sponged with the same ink to give a bit of a color gradient.
My Merry Christmas sentiment is also a die from CottageCutz. And, that's my card for this week. Hope you can play along with us. Check out the other DT samples for more inspiration.

Ha, Mary! We both had red Cardinals on the brain! I love your little duo with the faux mother of pearl background. Such a perfect combination for a winter scene, and I love the sentiment die too!

Beautiful card Mary...that background is beautiful and really does resemble blowing snow! Thanks for linking to the tutorial too...I may just give that a go myself.

I love your background. And cardinals and birdhouses are some of my favorite Christmas card subjects. I think I've added another thing to my wish list...

Double dessert for you this week! Your cardinals are so pretty--I miss them! Here in the Pacific Northwest, no cardinals! :-( The die cuts you used on your card, including the pretty font for the greeting, are perfection, and I love your background. Thank for sharing the link!

The pearl background is such a beautiful compliment to the red birds!! I like cardinals and haven't seen a one in 15 years, since we've been in Washington. Even the blue jays are different than the ones we had in NJ. Weird!
You card is so lovely, Mary!! I thought of Christmas with these colors too.
