This is for Toni's fun challenge - Step Aside. I am seriously addicted to any form of step card LOL. I have been making Christmas Tags for Loll's tag event, the back panel of this is actually the tag I made the othe day. Here is the method I used to achieve the faux marble/mother of pearl type look. It is a mixture of techniques by Loll and Karen.
On an aluminium sheet I squeezed some white pva glue straight out of a bottle (nozzle no longer works). I then scrunched up some cling wrap and dabbed it in the glue, then dab on foil to remove excess, then dabbed on cardstock.
Once bone dry I used a belnding tool and sponge to apply Tumbled Glass distress ink over the entire card. Leaving a large oval area in the centre of the card I then sponged in an outward direction with Evergreen Bough distress ink. Finally I did the edges with Peackock Feathers ink. Because I had poured out too much glue, I made lots of backgrounds for my stash. I used one of these to make side and step panels for this card.
I punched out the leaves, the paper is a beautiful metallic heavy paper. Using acetate I cut a tree shape and stuck on the leaves, followed by liquid pearls and stickles (on the back tree only). The reindeer (RAK from Ina) has been gently inked around the edges with silver ink then adhered to a piece of packaging acetate. The acetate is wedged between the peak of the mountain fold - that way the reindeer doesn't look like he is falling over.
Lastly I added the gates, I did them in silver metallic cardstock as white looked a bit harsh. This will never survive mailing, so it will live on our mantlepiece this Christmas and be a reminder of all my SCS friends.
Thank you for looking.
Edit: The colour here is true, the original tag looks too blue.

Oh, Susie, this is a winter wonderland!! How gorgeous. Wish it were lifesize and I could stroll through it. It is certainly a paradise for the eyes.
