This is for Robin's terrific Free for All challenge. Our challenge is to CASE one of the first 5 cards uploaded in our Favourites Gallery. Click here to see the gorgeous dress and apron card created by Leslie Miller back in 2005.
In real life the colours of Leslies card are identical to my card......unfortunately it looks different in the photo. Instead of just casing the dress and pinnie, I gave her a body and placed her outside an old house!!
Nancy aka stiz2003 constantly inspires me with her beautiful cards and comments. It was through Nancy that I learnt of the writer, Erma Bombeck. Erma is a hoot, I used one of her quotes on this card.
...My second favourite household chore is ironing. My first being hitting my head on the top bunk until I faint.....
I laughed my head off when I first read that...still do. Now about the card. I completely covered a piece of scrap cardstock with double sided tape (the cheap 2" wide stuff from the hardware store/Aldi etc 50yards for $4). Lay the fabric over the tape then using Archival ink, stamp the dress and fussy cut.
The background is just one piece of patterned paper from a small 6.5" Kaisercraft paper pad called Base Coat. I added a window, acetate for faux glass and a little lace curtain. I made a little awning from a scrap of the same dp. I printed the quote on photocopy paper and rubbed a sponge dauber over it. The card is a 5" x 7" white pre-scored card. To make a grey border I sponged on some Pumice Stone distress ink.
I hope you join in Robin's fun challenge. The details are here

GREAT card, Susie! LOVE your "distressed" girl all in fabric. The corrugated bkgrd is neat, too. Erma Bombeck's words always made me laugh. The first book I had of hers, I bought in the late 70s, called "If Life is a Bowl of Cherries, What Am I Doing in The Pits?"

This is brilliant Susie! Tape on fabric! Never thought of that one and how wonderful it works! I LOVE that you even ruffled her skirt! What a fantastic tattered apron! Never heard of this tape but it sure must be a bit cheaper than Sookwang! Fantastic card and another new idea! Thanks for always describing your process. Thanks too for the smiles and reminder of Erma!

Susie, that quote from Erma Bombeck is a hoot! Back in the day, I read everything she had published. I love everything about this card, but especially the doll and how you dressed her. Love the lace curtain too!

Love your dressed up lady! The fabric additions to this card are amazing. Love the window treatment (with acetate 'glass' no less)! Erma B. really knew how to inject humour into the everyday. Love that quote. Great card Susie!
