 | | This is a card I made for the 2014 Holiday Card Workshop at Online Card Classes. The emphasis of this session was using watercolor on your cards.
This probably wasn't what the instructor had in mind when she demonstrated the emboss resist technique with watercolor, but this is what I came up with, and I'm very pleased with it, although it's definitely not a traditional Christmas card!
I started with a wash of pale blue over the entire piece, and just kept adding layers of greens, purples and magentas. The poinsettias were painted first with regular colors, and then shimmer watercolors over top. The frame was painted with gold shimmer watercolor, and then colored with a gold metallic Gelly Roll pen. I added a fairly heavy misting of Pssst Shimmer Spritz in Sparkle over the entire image. The really hard part was cleaning all the color off of the embossing without destroying the watercolor. Painstaking work with a TH fine tipped empty water brush and a q-tip accomplished that task fairly well.
As always, thanks for looking! |
