Made for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges 2014 - Holding It Together

We were asked to attach layers without glues or adhesives. Several weeks ago I had stamped and coloured this image. At the time I was trying to get back into the swing of challenges and I had originally made this for Lydias Mixed Media rice background technique. Then I was stumped about how to mount it onto a card so it sat floating around my desk. Sabrina to the rescue with this challenge. The tricky part was getting all the loose layers aligned for the piercings to attach the brads. Layers are the image, embossed vellum, patterned paper and cardstock. I hammered the brads flat. Without this challenge I would never of been forced to look beyond my bland mounting approach.

For what it is worth the image was made with a reinker wash on watercolour paper for the rice technique. Stamped Bloom With Hope images and coloured with Inktense pencils.

Stunning card. I have Inktense pencils--the largest package, and I've yet to use them. Thanks for the inspiration I needed to pull them out.

From the top part of the picture on my laptop, I was pretty sure this was going to be yours! It's beautiful. I spotted the rice background straight away. How on earth did your rice manage to lift ALL the colour out to leave those beautiful little white highlights. Mine weren't all that much paler than the rest of the card. I love the combination of the chevron ef with the polka dot paper, and the hammered brads look great. Thank you for playing along and Holding It Together so beautifully.
