There are 4 layers to this card. The base layer is off-white CS that I’ve run through my cuttlebug using the Fiskars Texture Plate “Fabric”. Then used “Dried Marigold” and “Vintage Photo” distress ink to give it more dimension.
The next layer is brown glitter paper. I did a lot of measuring and experimenting and finally cut out and laminated an octagon template. I used my Martha Stewart corner punch “double arches” all around to get the circle. Thanks to Gingerbeary8 (Fred She Said Chickadee Paper Angel by Gingerbeary8 at Splitcoaststampers) for the idea. The thought of punching 96 “corners” out of glitter paper was a bit daunting. The MS punch DID IT!
The next bit was EASY. I used some software to create the digital round circle writing: “Just because you have wings, doesn't mean you can fly...but if you don't try, you will never get airborne!“ I used my biggest circle scallop punch to punch out the sentiment. I forgot to distress it. Adhering it to the glitter paper was a major problem. No adhesive I used worked, because it would stick to the glitter, but the glitter would pull off its backing paper. Finally, in desperation, I used my glue gun! It fused the glitter to its base paper, to itself and it held on the sentiment.
Finally, I stamped the image of the flying pig (stamp from Rubber Hedgehog http://rubberhedgehog.com/Pig-Rubber-Stamps.htm) in white pigment ink on brown iridescent paper. Using the black magic technique, I colored in parts, noteably the ears, mouth, and hoofs and gave the eyes some black highlights. I punched it out with an SU punch and adhered it with lots of foam pop dots which you canÂ’t see in the photo) but it was either see pop-dots and glare or see piggy and glitter. I went for the latter.
Thanks for looking and a monumental THANKS to Charity for hosting this wonderful swap.
