 | | I made this card for today's sketch. The top panel has a little pocket that can hold a teabag.
I also made it for Kelly's Word of the Week challenge found on her blog here:
http://ginghamgirlsadventures.blogsp.../09/wow-5.html
This week's word is HOBNOB.
hobnob: 1. To drink sociably 2. to associate familiarly
Here is the story behind my card... I don't drink anything stronger than Dr. Pepper... so I thought about what I drink the most. I love tea. I have loved sociably drinking tea in the cyberworld of Mothermark's Tuesday Teaparties. So the teapot and teacup are in honor of my friend Cindy. That got me thinking of the rest of the definition... to associate familiarly. To me, that describes scs. I feel like I KNOW so many of you by seeing your avatars and your cards, but it is so one dimensional. In my opinion, we all HOBNOB when we look at some of the great cardmakers creations...does the Dirty Dozen come to mind?
I went a step further and read some of the etymology of HOBNOB. Its origin was probably (Have - Hob) and (Have not - Nob). It also can mean to give and take. I loved that last thought. To me, again, that is SCS. We give and take ideas that make us better crafters-cardmakers.
The faux button on the ribbon was from Lynn's TLC this week. |
