NOV09VSNA ~ FRI. NOV. 13, 2009 ~ 7 pm EST ~ WHODUNNIT ~ The CASE of the 'Bellies
Title: "The CASE of the 'Bellies"
Hostess: Shannon ~Mrs. Mac~
Keyword: NOV09VSNA
Day/Date: Friday, November 13, 2009
Time: 7:00 PM (EST)
Welcome to the start of the Main VSN event!!!!! You all look so beautiful in your ball gowns and elaborate masks!!! The glitz, the glamour and the ruffles!!! Everything is amazingly over the top tonightas it should be for a proper masquerade ball.
My challenge for you tonight is to go over the top.above and beyond.and add lots of ruffles and frills. So.pick a favorite dress...I mean card...from the SCS gallery or any blog and CASE it over the top!!! You should change at least 2 things from the original card and add lots of 'bellies. You must include ruffles by ruching your ribbon. This can be done any number of ways.sewing and gathering, staples, or just really sticky adhesive.
Here's the card by Theresa that I chose to CASE for my card.

Hi ladies, I will try to play as much as I can. There has been a death in the extended family, so I have to make a sympathy card before I make anything else. I hate making sympathy cards. :(

So sorry to hear that! Yeah, sympathy cards are not fun to make

Thanks. I should learn to make a bunch to have on hand when I am happy, because I have so much trouble being creative when I am bummed out. But when I am happy, I want to make happy cards because card making makes me so happy.
Is there a tutorial on ruching ribbon somewhere? I think you pull one thread or something?
You can sew a long stitch and then pull the threads to gather it. Or you can fold the ribbon over itself and stitch it down (or use glue dots) If you look at the cards in the links that Shannon has in the challenge, you should be able to see how it all works

I'm not sure.....I just scrunch it up and adhere it down with glue dots. I've also done it by using a running stitch down the middle of the ribbon and scrunching the ribbon up on that.
Here is my attempt. It's hard to CASE a Beate Johns card and do it justice but I really loved the ribbon rouching! Thanks for the great challenge Shannon Fabulous Rouching

Hugs and prayers your way. Making the sympathy card yourself will make it extra special for the recipient.

Yay, VSN is ON! Can't wait to play tonight...now, just need to get 2 partying girls to bed before they turn into pumpkins...or until I lose a glass slipper...or something like that!
Good evening everyone! Just walked in from work and put on a pair of jeans. Hubby put some game hens in the crock pot a few hours ago so I'll heat up some Stouffer's Brocolli Gratin and call it good!
