NOV09VSNN ~ SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14th ~ 10 pm EST ~ COSTUMES THROUGHOUT HISTORY
Title: Costumes Throughout History
Hostess: Jenny (Avery123)
Keyword: NOV09VSNN
Date: Saturday, November 14, 2009
Time: 10 pm
I LOVE history and I LOVE paper crafting so for my challenge I have combined the two!
Since this is a Masquerade ball, costumes are required. So I'm going to finish up the night with an inspiration challenge. Find a picture of a costume or type of dress for a specific period of history and base your card on that. Please include the link to your inspiration in your post and let us know what time in history it's from.
You may chose a costume from ANY period of history from ANY culture.
Also I love bling, and it is a ball, so you will also need to have something shiny or sparkly somewhere on the card to represent the disco ball at the dance! Glitter, gold or silver brads, dew drops, a charm, anything along those lines.
Don't forget to post here to enter to win a Scor-Pal!
UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. ALL VSN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EST ON SUNDAY, November 15.
2. You have 45 minutes to complete the challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword, NOV09VSNN , when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in the chat thread just in case the gallery is being testy.
I've often thought of these different dresses and how fun they'd be to wear....difficult to sit in though some of them. I suppose when your busy dancing there is no need to sit right???
< especially the last dance!!!! >

Trish, hope you had a great surprise party! Let me guess, 29?
I finished mine last night, but I've learned my lesson before about moving cards around with wet stickles on them, so I waited until today to snap a pic. I was in a Pushing Daisies mood, so I went with a 50s red polka swing dress, which then lead me to find many many dresses online that I need, so should I just send the bill to you, Jenny?

I love asian culture, so I did a kimono card. I recently had watched an ed show on the geishas. Very cool! The kimono the card is based on is in my gallery post.

I couldn't get a decent photo last night because of the light. The card I made is done with Sizzix 'Shantung' texture pad paper, and it has a silky sheen that made photo difficult. Anyway, here it is: Shantung by vanislandwoman at Splitcoaststampers
1830's wedding dress which would be used for other special occasions. Gown is made of pea-green silk taffeta.
I used Sizzix 'Shantung' Texture Pad paper to reflect the gown material and colour. The folded ribbon is inspired by the pleating at the top of the sleeves. The panel under the ribbon, inspired by the white shawl, uses a stamp from Simple Delights (SU). For my shiny, sparkly element I used a Sticky Cuts heart covered with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. The sentiment is a SU Chit Chat rub-on. The card is 5x5.
