All May's Flowers...what a great theme for this VSN. There are stamped flowers, die cut flowers, punched flowers, felt flowers, twilled flowers, tissue, crepe paper, coffee filters, egg cartons, cupcake liners.... There is even a song...Paper Roses. What type of challenge could I come up with that was a step up from what I've done in the past. Well, something I had seen a couple of weeks ago popped into my head and the floodlight went on. Now if I could only find it in the March 2010 issue of CardMaker. I decided to change it up a bit. So I went out to the web and starting looking at cards and blogs and found a flower I think anyone could do. Julie Williams has a great tutorial to help you through it PAPER ROSE. And of course, Beate Johns with her Dimensional Flowers. I made mine by distressing rather than spritzing. My first one took me a while so I won't dock you if it takes you more than 45 - 60 minutes. Just have fun and enjoy the beautiful results.
The following are other flowers you could do if you don't like the main one. Ribbon Blossom as done by Pam Bassett.
Linda Duke does a Paper Tole Flower.
My challenge to you is to make a card with at least one hand made flower. You can use Julie's tutorial for inspiration to come up with your own or follow her steps. Whether you use a technique you used before, or a new one....HAVE FUN!
1. ALL VSN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EDT ON MONDAY, May 31, 2010
2. You have 45 minutes to complete the challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword, MAY10VSNG, when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure your layout is seen.

What a gorgeous sample! I'll put my thinking cap on! Still entertaining DD! We have made banana bread and are about to paint toenails! Maybe there will be a children's challenge today and we can do it together!
Well ladies, I'm going to hit the hay for a while - I'll be back later so I can upload some more cards I've made for some of the challenges!!!!! Have fun!!!!
You did a great job, even if it was out of your comfort zone. I think that is what VSN is all about. To give us an opportunity to try things we normally wouldn't do. Sometimes we find new things that help us increase our comfort zone. Thanks for playing.
Off to spread love in the galleries and will pop in and out to see what everyone comes up with. Thanks for playing.
I think a big part of the fun at VSN is spreading love in the galleries. People seem to make more comments as we're all excited about what each other is doing. I know I appreciate all the love I get in response to my cards.

Well, I did get to the tutatorial! What fun! But you notice, I only made one!!!
Here is my RazzleRose. Thank you Robyn for getting us out of our box! I really am having so much fun! When I was taking the photo, my husband wished we had another camera to take one of me down on the ground taking a picture. And then bless his heart he is doing all meals this week-end, so had to stop to sit down at the table with him and eat!
I've given up every pretense of trying to keep up. LOL! Here's my paper flower for Robyn's challenge - a little simpler than per instructions. It's my first tissue flower, and I'll make more.

I started out with a good idea but then when I started to watercolor the rose ridges I felt I had to do the whole rose. I don't know if it turned out as good as it could but I will leave that up to the viewers. I will have to try this another day, another way.
