MAY10VSNH ~ Sat, May 29th ~ 2:00 PM ~ Relaxing in the Rain
Date & Time: May 29th @ 2:00 PM EST Keyword:MAY10VSNH Hostess: Taylor (stagccva)
There is nothing better about spring than being outside, enjoying the lovely weather, the smell of flowers, listening to the birds sing, and just basking in the sunshine. But sometimes that just can't happen - like when we get those wonderful spring showers! One of my favorite things to do when we get those showers, or just have a plain old rainy day, is curl up in a comfy chair with a good book. It's so nice to enjoy the quiet, and listen to the rain coming down outside. Of course, I'm always looking for more bookmarks, so I don't end up using receipts, scraps of paper, or folding down the corners of pages (*gasp* -- I hate it when people do that!!!!)
So that is my challenge to you: make a spring themed bookmark for your next rainy day reading date It can be any kind of bookmark you want, in any shape. If you are feeling super adventurous, make a card with a detachable bookmark that you can send to a special someone! There is a great tutorial using the Creatopia here on SCS. It adapts for those of us who don't have one, too - just cut your card at 5 1/2" x 11", and score at 4 1/4". You would perforate it at 8 1/2".
Here are a couple other tutorials for bookmarks that SCS has in its Resource section:

I thought about getting a Kindle for my birthday in July but I so love the feel of a book in my hand and I think I would miss it too much. How are you finding it compares to a "real" book?
Yes it is Traci. You can attach your giant paper clip anyway you like I guess. I generally don't put them on cards because they can get a bit too heavy, but that could be because I overload them LOL
You girls are so quick! I am printing off the tutatorial now, and see what I can come up with! I did one like this a long time ago. Thank you Taylor for the great challenge. I look forward to doing it You all are all making such fabulous cards! See ya later!
Yes, I agree with Joan, a great idea Taylor! I can't wait to make more of these. And you all had such good ideas! Ous are so different. Isn't it amazing!
Here is my Cool Bookmark. Thank you Tayor! I can't tell you all how much fun I am having. One thing. We have only one computer, so DH is like over my shoulder saying are you done yet!
And aren't they doing a great job of getting these posted in a timely manner!
How do we say thank you to them!
Fantastic challenge! I've never done one of these before, so this was great! I can see I"ll be working on these tomorrow, I'm a little behind schedule! I've managed to get all my cards done under 45 minutes, my trouble is that I've been going out and enjoying the weather between cards! LOL Here's hoping for rain tomorrow! ;)
I was so looking forward to doing this challenge Taylor, as I'd never done one of these bookmarks before and had only recently purchased the SU perferating tool (with the other mini tools) just to do this type of card.
Here is my bookmark card. Thank you for this great challenge! I've never made a bookmark card before. I'm in a bookclub, so this type of card will come in handy!
What a great challenge. I've been wanting to try those paperclip bookmarks, and I finally had a reason. I made two of them, so I guess I can find a few more books to start. Here they are, Waiting for a Rainy Day.
You can never have enough bookmarks. Usually I use those annoying magazine subscription inserts. For this challenge I made a special bookmark out of paper I really like just for me. I also made an origami bookmark but it's lost somewhere in the debris in my craft area. Next time I'll use the same instructions but make a larger one.
