I can't cut a straight line for the life of me! I always wondered why Fiskars (I think it is) doesn't come out with one. They have that whole line of border punches, wouldn't that one be the icing on the cake for them?
I know you can use your slit punch, but I want something much easier. The other day at Archiver's I bought a few packs ($2.99) of different colors of borders. They are pre-made, all different types of scalloped edges, you just attach. It was as close as I could get, and they are FUN.
I agree! Doesn't it make sense to just make a scallop border punch? Maybe a couple, in different sizes? I make scallops by punching circles and gluing them under a strip, but that takes a long time too. A punch would be so much easier!
I ordered the threading water Fiskars one through Frantic Stamper (www.franticstamper.com) just last week, and she had them in stock. It would make sense for someone to make a plain border punch though ... I cant believe that someone has NOT made one with scallops being such a big thing in stamping.
OK - now I have 2 different cutters that have cartridges that will do this. One is a Carl cutter, the other is a Cutter Bee. The Cutter Bee was super inexpensive -- the Carl, not so inexpensive. But it cuts great.
I want one that has the "bigger" scallops and no holes, kind of like the look you get if you use your slit punch. Have any of you done the slit punch with any success? I'm not good at lining stuff up so I haven't even tried.
I used my FISKARS Scallop edge scissors. I just cut along the edge so I get a straight line everytime. I also use my slit punch sometimes. I tis very easy to do as you just insert the paper as far as it will go & line up your edge. The only thing I don't like about using the Slit Punch is that you tehn can only have a strip for the scallop. Sometimes that is great for when I want the scallop a different color, but if I want it on my main card then I use my scissors.
On page 55 of the May 2008 Cardmaker magazine there is the cutest card with layered scallop borders. When you read the instructions it says they used a EK Success scallop corner rounder. Isn't there a way you can take apart a corner rounder and use it as a border? Probably a lot of work but I don't mind. Does anyone know how to take apart a punch to use it in this way?

Thanks!
my corner rounder is by EK success, it has a plastic guard/guide for when you round a corner, it slips off and you can use it to make a big scallop
Yes they do. BUT, you will need a longer cutting platform and cutting plate. I bought both at Joanns -- they're made by Sizzix. They were pretty cheap, I think it costs me about $10 for both the white platform and the cutting plate and the cutting plates come 2 to a package.
I was so proud of myself! I listened to some advice here on how to use the SU slit punch for a scallop boarder, and it worked SO NICE!!! I was doing it wrong. Once I tried it the right way. WOW! Thanks, everyone!
You all want to hear something funny? In my gmail, when the update to the thread showed up in the inbox, there was a list of links to punches off to the side: scallop punch, paper punch, corner punch, heart punch. So out of curiosity, of course, I clicked on 'scallop punch'. It brought me to a selection of recipes for scallops and punch  . Yeah, right... that's helpful!
I was wanting scalloped borders also and tried everything. Finally got a great scallop using Cricut and DS. I did a card and posted it under PJill. It's so easy and if anyone is interested I will send the pattern.
My favorite way to create an evenly spaced scallop border is with the Tonic Punch System. Using the corner rounder 2 in 1 punch and removinf the corner guides, then place it on the board for an even and beautiful scallop in seconds! I know I sound like an infomercial. But I am just in love with this system. If what I said doesn't make sense I currently have a short video and some photo samples of this punch and the other 2 in 1 punches on my blog. www.cherylhorton.typepad.com
