Default Sizzix question

I have a sizzix system and have quite a few large shape dies and I am wondering if it would hurt the dies to cut lightweight cardboard (aka chipboard) to make some of my own shapes? SU sends alot of it on the backs of the inspiration sheets bottoms of catalog boxes and it seems a shame not to be able to recylce it...Anyone else ever done die-cutting with it?

I have done this before and you should be fine. The only thing that will happen is you will need to double press each section.

I have wondered this as well, does it get stuck in the die b/c of the thickness?

Yes, It works great. I've done this with chipboard several times. Never had a problem.

I have a sidekick and have great success with the thinner cardboard like you find on the back of a notepad. I definitely don't have to put it through the machine twice 'cause it's a bit of a squeeze but I've never had any trouble...just take your time rolling it through. I've got a couple of examples in my gallery:

icecream cone from birthday set

and

flower from flowers set

It's a great way to get more use out of your sizzix and dies.

Well, I tried it on the thin carboard from SU and it came out great! I did 'miss' a tiny bit on one of the petals, but the line was there to cut out easily. Thanks everyone - I'm off to play and play and play!
